I was a good boy and placed a very small order. Just picked up a few ounces of a couple of blends I've been wanting to try. I spent less than $20. Man, I'm a high roller, I know.

I concur about people throwing tantrums. I'll be honest, I only ordered to get the goodie box. I certainly don't need anything, but I imagine the days of being able to celebrate ISPD with online specials will go away in a couple years, so I find it fun to participate while I can. Haddo's Delight is one of those tobaccos that is greatly benefitted by some age. I bought some a few years ago and popped it open when it arrived. I did not like it at all. I jarred it and waited about a year and tried it again. It was like a different tobacco and quite good.

Yeah, I have heard/read this quite often. Being it is my first go with this tobacco, I will probably do as you did. Pop the tin, smoke 2-3 bowls and jar the rest and see what happens down the road.

Luckily the other things I bought require no age, great right out of the tin and in my pipe! :D

If you haven't already, I suggest you jar it up and wait at least a year, then try it. I didn't like the topping either. It tasted like Cheap. and I mean CHEAP, brandy. I like brandy, but I can't stand cheap liquor. After a year or so it tastes decent.

Kept my P&C purchase light for IPSD because I had spent nearly $400 there a couple weeks before. Also, from spite because I thought their goodie box giveaway was a poorer judgement from the way they've done it in the past. Fewer freebies, given to more customers, starting on the 20th itself (midnight EST) would have been cooler. Most pipers were still at work and didn't know about the new situation on the afternoon of the 19th by the time all the boxes were gone.

As for pipe acquisition, I recently found out I live less than an hour drive from the famous J.M. Boswell pipe shop, so maybe some time this Spring I'll drop by there and consider a new pipe (and indulge in some more TAD).
