Hi folks,
My Vertigo triple torch has finally died. So it's time to replace it. I was looking on amazon for a new one and keep seeing these arc lighters. Have any of you tried one and with any success?

Thanks
Chris

Is that the Atomic Lighter (As seen on TV?) I have no experience with them. Have you considered getting a cool Zippo, gutting it and getting a Thunderbird Butane insert? I think the come soft flame, single torch or double torch. Tons of cool Zippos out there.

If you get to light up inside, the Thunderbird Soft Flame is awesome. I love mine but it’s far from wind proof. If you are looking for more of the Jet style, i’ve He great luck with Robson Jetlights for like $4 at Wal-Mart. I haven’t bought one in years so I assume they still sell them.

No, not familiar with arc, but I received a Zico torch recently which I'm very happy with and last week a Lotus torch on cbid for $8 and it's working very nicely. I'll post pics if I can find this thread on Tapatalk.

Thanks guys,
I have a pipe insert in one of my zippos, I had completely forgot about the butane insert and may look into that. The Vertigo I have was like $10 bucks, and worked great until the fuel tank started to come loose. I didn't know much about the arc lighters, I wouldn't think they would be good for lighting a cigar, but thought I would ask first.

Thanks for the help!

I've had great luck with the Vertigo line and don't have any fancy lighters, mostly because I have about 10 or so and I couldn't afford it. The Vertigos are great on the golf course and hold up well in the wind. I do have a Zippo Blu that was gift and it works well, but they don't make them any more. They do make an inexpensive Xikar that's about $20 and has the lifetime warranty of Xikar - I have one and it works well.

The $8 Lotus and the Zico which was a gift but I believe runs in the low $20's and which of course is more of a table top model but lightweight and cutely ergonomic. Good luck!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180320/3081ff07039c77a67c94b2aca13d192b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180320/54c615b571a88046f55b65dcb3bdf9df.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180320/b4a533c196c360b8209c9150623fda14.jpg

Having a lighter fetish and a collection of almost 30 of them I love the Xikar Exodus Soft Flame. Been a fan for 5 years and it works like no other. I won another one on CBID for $25 just in case I lose the one I have already. Nice thing about Xikar is that it's warranted for life so if it craps out I get the Dealer to crap one out for me. Win Win!

Very carefully. ;) I do prefer the soft flame when I can just in general for all cigars but Fire is fire.

I'll second the zippo / thunderbird combination. I have both the soft flame and jet insert. Both work well with no issues so far. I also have a ronson and it also has had no issues. I do still see them in wally's and still for around $4.

I am leaning towards the Thunderbird or Z plus insert. I see mixed reviews on them not sitting in the Zippo all the way and making it impossible to close the lid. Thoughts, before I pull the trigger?

The thunderbird insert I got came with it’s own metal shell. I got it from Amazon IIRC.

Both of my Thunderbirds fit perfectly.

Thanks again for all the helpful input everyone, I decided on the Thunderbird single torch butane, got it Friday and have to say I love it. Really like how precise using a single torch is over the triple my old Vertigo was.

Congrats and enjoy! Btw, my Lotus is not so great after all. Lights when it wants to and doesn't close all the way so gas escapes. But the Zico is still goin' strong.
