Curious as to everyone’s thoughts on the future of dunhill tobaccos. I know that supposedly they are being discontinued after this year. I’ve personally bout about 40 tins over the last few months and am curious about how everyone here is taking this. Are you buying? What’s your thoughts on the future value of these tins once production ends?
Maybe 40 tins isn’t enough

I really am just playing it by ear. Can't really afford to buy up tins,
but my favorite blend,Nightcap, is available in bulk.So after taxes
I may buy up a few ounces or pounds to cellar.

I’m gonna do some bulk too Matt. I do like me some nightcap. Just not sure about whether or not to stockpile as many tin as I can. My budget is about blown but if need be I can justify another 40-50 tins

I like Dunhill blends but I'm not going to stockpile any as I have more tobacco than I will ever smoke already. I have a few quart mason jars packed full of Nightcap and EMP and that'll hold me just fine. That, and I think the blends will all be resurrected if they are discontinued.

10 Past Midnight is good but I haven't compared it side by side with Nightcap. Is there a "Match" for
Early Morning Pipe or Dunhill Flakes?

Seems I've seen an EMP match at one time or another but afaik the FDA regs might have killed it. As far as Dunhill flake though, there are dozens of Va flakes on the market that are just as good or better IMO. I'd be just as happy with FVF.

I bought a pound of Nightcap last summer and have quite a few tins of many of their blends hoarded. The oldest guy in our pipe club scoffed when I told him of the impending doom of the label; he laughed and said that someone else will pick it up and produce it under a different company. I'm not so sure myself.

I have many tins of DF, won't be buying more. I also have a good stock of Navy Rolls, but will probably buy more because it's one of my two favorite vapers. Solani 633 is the other.

Have you tried Sam Gawith, St James Flake and/or McClelland 2015?

With my last purchase I’m at about 5 pounds of tinned dunhill so that should last me a while. I also have nightcap and 965 in jars already

I'm taking the long view on this - good brands and blends have come and gone over the years, and from what I gather, some of the current ones aren't the same as they were originally anyway. But with the thousands of tobaccos to pick from, I don't think my life will change for the worse if Dunhill ceases to produce. I would miss Nightcap, which I'm pretty low on right now, but I still have foreseeable future supplies of some of my other favorites such as Pirate Kake and Penzance.
And in the micro picture, if I never bought any more pipe tobacco, I'd still never run out :)

I may pick up a few more tins of "Ye Olde Signe", which I'm quite fond of. I have enough "Early Morning Pipe, "Nightcap", and "Elizabethan Mixture" to last my lifetime. Aside from those I can't say there are any that I would truly miss.
