Finally got the cabinet humidor done for our living room. Man will these hold a bunch of cigars! The drawers are HUGE at 17"x 16"x 3 1/2". I figure each drawer can hold 240 5x50 cigars. As you can see, we have plenty of room now to re-grow our collection. lol.
Cabinet is 23" x 20" x 28 1/2" Formaldehyde-free wood product. So happy to finally have it home!

Wow, very nice, big enough to keep a sack of potatoes in lol;sorry as another Idahoan, figured I would get it out of the way. Does the door just flush close or is there an inset to help seal it?

It is very beautiful and worthy of showing off in a house.

Thanks. The door closes up tight against a seal. Dual magnets top and bottom as well as the style of hinges keep it pulled in tight against the seal. Not a leak anywhere. :)

Yeah, those were the 5x56 I had. It will hold 20 across of the 5x50 robusto size..3 rows of 20 = 60 per layer and it will hold 4 layers of 50RG also, for a count of 240 per drawer. 480 in the 2 drawers plus all the storage below.

Yeah, we're up where the Snake & Clearwater rivers meet. About 100 miles south of Couer d'Alene/Spokane area. Beautiful all around us and the weather has been crazy good lately. My Wife wanted to go for a motorcycle ride for Valentines day, which in February around here is usually a ridiculous idea, but it was a really nice day so we took a little ride over to Enterprise, OR for lunch via Rattlesnake Canyon.

Well, that is a fine specimen of craftsmanship. Do you build them for retail, or just for yourself and friends?

When can you have it here and what might you recommend for humidification? Oh and are the cigars optional?lol

I was going to ask where you got this too...I did not realize this was Forrest lol. That is AWESOME. Any chance you are going to sell them?

Good to see you on here. Btw...I love my drawers. But for the next one I want to go with something exotic

Just DO it lol. Get in touch with local woodworkers in your area. There's usually someone who would welcome you into their shop for a small project.

I'm breaking down and buying a new miter saw this spring. At that point all I'd really need to do a good job would be a planer, so I'm really not too far off from having the tools. There's also a lack of time issue. We're looking to sell our house in a couple of years, and I've got a two page list of repairs on our house to do in that span.

As my wife would tell you, my small projects last forever, and the big ones are even worse. I still have to finish the dining room table and benches I built for our 2012 Thanksgiving dinner, that's got to happen before she'll let me start a new woodworking project.

LOL I can TOTALLY understand that. That's why the title of this says ..FINALLY. Took me a long long time to get this done for us. I'd squeak a little time in on Sundays when I could to work on it.

Forrest, how do you season a humidor with that much cubic volume? Where do you place the Heartfelt beads and in what kind of container? Do you include an instruction manual on how to properly season the cabinet? How do you charge two pounds of Heartfelt beads? How long will it take to ship?

I like the sponges with distilled water on plates method to season pretty much any humidor. Some use bowls of water too.
For the beads I put them in a shallow cigar box in the bottom of the humidor. They make little tubes too if you wanted to add them to drawers if needed.
I hadn't thought of doing a manual, but I suppose it wouldn't take much to print up a sheet to go with them.
If going the Heartfelt route, they have a great tutorial/FAQ here: http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/faq.asp
I think we've got it worked out with helpers to turn these out in 3 weeks. We'll have a better grip on that as things progress with these.

After a week of seasoning, we moved our cigars into their new home.
My Wife has her drawer:
428

And I have my drawer:
429

Plenty of room to grow as the drawers are nowhere near capacity and the entire bottom is still empty lol, but we'll fill it up eventually. :)

R1100RS I really see this guy in my future just curious about the shipping cost? I know on the site it shows that shipping will be added at the end but do you have an approximate cost of shipping to IL? PP adds in $30 but just wanted to know if it would be more, time to start pinching my pennies.

Yes, it will be more than $30. I'll have packing supplies for the cabinets here this week, and a quick estimate to Springfield IL as an example looks to be about $80. Once we've got everything on site and have things nailed down a bit, I'll post a thread in an appropriate sub-forum for sales info on them.

This is why I've liked to use Heartfelt humidity beads the last few years. I've got about 1 1/2lbs of 65% beads in the cabinet and it holds steady. 468
