Prelight: Another smooth, silky, oily wrapper from Perdomo, that is floral and woody in aroma. There is nary a vein on this stick. The foot is about as dense as they get and is extremely floral. I punch the cigar and get a great pull, which has a faint chocolate and woody taste to it.

1/3: Wood and black pepper kick off this cigar, with the wood fading quick. There is a bit of a creaminess behind the pepper, which helps mellow it out. An earthiness also gets added to the mix, mellowing the pepper even more. The ash is only lasting about ½” at a time, which is disappointing, but the flavors are great!

2/3: The second third starts out an amalgam of earth, wood and just a pinch of coffee, but soon the wood fades and earthy coffee is predominant, with just a slight sweetness to it. I am loving this cigar. The burn has stayed straight and the profile is right up my alley.

3/3: There seems to be a bit of grass coming into play with the earth and coffee, but it disappears as quickly as it came (that’s what she said). The cigar ends all earth and coffee.

Overall: An excellent example of the quality Perdomo can put out. Out of five cigars I reviewed, only one irked me, the rest wooed me. I’m torn between the Champagne and ESV as frontrunners. Fortunately, there are samplers available with both of them. Pick one up!
