Hey guys. I know nothing about repairing pipes, but I found these pipes on an auction site. I don't know what could have caused this damage, other than maybe taking them apart too often while they were hot.
Anyway, can you fix this, or is it not worth it. I think they'll go pretty cheap, so it may be worth it if it is do-able.
Thanks.

Yes, they are repairable. A pipe repair person can snug a nickel or silver band around the shank there and make the stem fit again. Of course it's up to you if the repair is worth it to you or if you don't mind the metal band. Norwood's Pipe Repair costs $18 for a nickel band and 21.75 for a silver one.
Edit: And you can do this yourself if you're inclined. Vermont Freehand or Lowe Pipe Repair Supply sells the bands.

Send a pic to Walker briar works, and take a look thru Rebornpipes blog.I would say yes
they are.Clean the split as much as possable with a small pick or q-tip and force glue into
the split then pad the shank sides and clamp it tight to dry.you'll need to carefully sand the
mortise afterwards and maybe a band on the outside.
