Prelight: This cigar is a bit beat up with some small tears in the wrapper, but the wrapper is smooth with nearly no veins and is quite pungent to the nose, with hints of wood. The foot has a nice woody, chocolate scent to it, but feels a little under-filled. The draw after a v-cut is pretty loose and tastes more like cardboard than anything else. I don’t have high hopes for this cigar.

1/3: The cigar starts out with mild flavors of pepper and cream with just a bit of wood. There is also a nuttiness to the profile. As the third progresses, the flavors stay mild but the ratios change; cedar becomes a more prominent flavor and cream rescinds. The ash and burn is impeccable.

2/3: The flavors and strength increase in the second third, but stay mostly the same as woody, creamy, and nutty. But, near the end of the second third, there is an herbal flavor that increases, creating quite a nice experience. I am really impressed by the flavors considering where the bar was set during the cold draw. There is also a decent amount of smoke coming from each pull although the draw still seems loose.

3/3: A grassiness comes into play in the final third, soon overtaking the cedar and cream I’ve come to enjoy. I also notice fleeting hints of chocolate from time to time. As I get to the nub, however, the burn becomes hot, bitter and too grassy to enjoy any longer.
Overall: Surprisingly enjoyable. The prelight made me think that this cigar would be on par with many Gurkhas, as the cold draw was tasteless and it smelled almost rancid. The flaws in the wrapper shows its age (as this cigar was purchased off a BOTL, and I have no idea how long he had it), but they did not affect the burn at all. The flavors were quite enjoyable and were matched by perfect burn and gorgeously dense ash. Definitely a nice cigar I wouldn’t mind relishing in again.
