It is unusual - and a great smoker. Post a picture of yourself smoking a pipe and I'll tell you if it's heavy or not. If you are smoking and scowling I will tell you the exact weight. :friendly_wink:

I've only purchased cobs new. I've got a few briars that I've gotten from flea markets and restored.

I should treat myself to a nice new one soon.

Oh, and Tobias. You need to calm down sir. You're likely to get complaints from the adjacent rooms with all that excitement going on.

My daughter came home from church with my wife last night & asked why another girl was speaking a different language. She was British.

Aww! She looks like a good little dog. She's sitting in yer lap AND guarding ya at the same time!

I thought I didn't like little dogs when I was younger. The smallest dog I had was a 60-some-odd pound boxer named Daisy, until my last dog. My last dog was a Boston Terrier that was dumped on me by an owner that couldn't handle/control her.

Poor little girl had gone through five owners and she was only six months old. They thought she was really cute, but her hyperness and willfulness made her owners crazy.

She was dumped on me by a normally calm lady who flew into rages at the poor little dog.

I thought I might take her for a couple weeks and tame her down, calm her down, teach her basic commands, train her to walk a lead without pulling the lead or walking in front. The plan was to not get attached to Kibble (she came with the name), and find her a forever home once she had some manners. I should have known better. We fell in love with each other in no time.

I took her everywhere, even to work. I took her to a job I loved (They taught me silversmithing and lapidary work) until everyone else there brought their dogs to work, but the other dogs didn't have good manners. The boss said no more dogs at work. I asked him if maybe good dogs could still come to work. Dogs that did what ANYONE said. He said that wouldn't be fair, so I quit and found a job where Kibble was welcome.

She lived twelve and a half years, and passed on four years ago this Spring. I still mourn her, and haven't been able to get another dog yet.

I understand little dogs now, and understand why people get them. They have the hearts of lions, are very cute, and they crave our company. Little dogs rock.

It's a MM ozark mountain, they list them as a hardwood with a cherry finish. No clue what type of wood they actually use. Smokes amazing for a cheap pipe. Perfect size to for the half hour drive to and from work.

I've seen several listings for cherry wood pipes and was wondering how they fared. But a hard wood pipe sounds good and probably tastes better than a cob.

Scores of Ropps on ebay at $1.50 - up. Cherry smokes fine, thicker/non-ornate bowls survive the ravages of the wood's moisture absorbing character.

First walk to the post office and back (3/4-mile) without a cane in nine months; took the umbrella for insurance, though. Stanwell square horn featherweight x Reiner LGF.

1. it smokes as well as my 1964 Dunhill shell billiard; and
2. the old Flame Grain looks pretty handsome.

Congrats on some nice looking pipes.
Dan, is black meerschaum naturally black, stained, painted...?

My take on african meerschaum is:

1. less pourous than turkish limiting coloration from smoking;
2. not naturally white but more ivory to tan; and
3. a tendency to have color and texture variations or streaks in a natural state.

I speculate the select stuff made premium natural pipes, most or all of which were highly rusticated; variegated clay was dyed or covered in handstitched leather boots.

Cigar inventory's taking a shit kicking with all the commuting so I've started packing a pipe instead more often. 1-q in the old Kleenest Deluxe

Cheaper too and doesn't stink up your clothes / vehicle nearly as much. :thumb:

Some OGS in the Keenest Deluxe on one my final trips home from the Nissan dealership. Transfer on Wednesday to a new Dodge dealership our auto group just bought out to help setup and staff it. Play my cards right and there could be big opportunities on the horizon.
