Looking back a little while was always die hard on leaving bands on as I smoked, now I don't get into that so much. Especially with real wide bands, your losing good smoke by not removing bands. Not to mention trying to take it off once you do notice it's getting in the way.

What's a habit you've changed over the years?

I no longer bite the cap off, use a knife, golf tee or some other crude method to cut my cigars.

The first time I used a V-cutter (an inexpensive one) it ruined a couple of cigar heads. For that reason, I swore off v-cutters altogether, attributing it to bad design. Fast forward to about a year ago when my B&M owner/manager showed me his Xikar V-cutter. He said he carried it with him all the time and the paint was almost completely worn off of it. So I bought one and love it; it's the only cutter that I use. Gave one to my brother and he loves it too.

I used to light before I cut.

Wait, I still do that ...

Except perfectos. I light those with one match unless it's windy.

I stopped buying Rocky Patels

So did I. I only bought the Vintage '92 (and only the perfectos seconds at that) at all regularly, and my home-rolled Sumatra blend fills that flavor niche better for me. I bought a bunch of Edge Maduro lanceros once, and they were downright smokeable. But again my home rolled maduro blend fills that niche, even though I don't do lanceros. Yet ...

I stopped using the devil site to fill my humidors.

Cigarer sent me my first RP that I smoked if you don't count the infused one they did with DE. It was a Vintage 1992 Churchill (I think) with some time in the humi. It was pretty dang spanky if I say so myself. Does anyone else seem to think that cigars taste better when they've been resting in someone else's humi and sent to you? I know mine are being stored properly, but I swear they taste better from others. Anyhow Cigarer, I'm still licking my chops looking at that AF Anejo 888 you sent me along with the others.....

Can't remember what size it was, and yes with some time on them I thought they were a solid smoke! I try to not go to gimmicky with cigars but if they are good what the heck? Ha, I'm surprised to hear that 888 made it this long!

I have a friend who adamantly insists that his favorite smokes are OPCs - Other People's Cigars.

He hasn't changed that habit, and it doesn't look likely that he's ever going to ...

I gotcha'. Well I'm cursed with no one to smoke with, but I'll get over it.....

Patience is a virtue..... I still have the AF Anejo Shark that @Cocker Dude sent me over 3 years ago. I was saving it for a special occasion, but it just made me realize how boring my life is. Nothing special in three years and counting......😑

Boring is good sometimes, but I'm also cursed with nobody to smoke with as well. My rabbit maybe but I don't foresee him sticking around too long on the patio LOL

LOL! He's kind of an "OPW" guy, too. But the three of us smokers did pool our money and buy equal shares in a "church stash!"

Tehe, well at least you have a steady member! Sounds like you have a great chance for a life member.....;)

Stopped saying that "most non-Cubans don't age well." I am now convinced that most do. My collection got to the point where it was just way more than I'd be able to smoke over my remaining lifetime, so I've mostly stopped buying much beyond the occasional single from a B&M, or 5'er from a duty-free shop. Consequently, 99% of what I have has >5years on it. 90% are wunderbar and the rest are excellent. That said, the vast majority of what I have is premium, or super-premium, or Cuban. Not sure that makes a difference; it's just what I happen to have, no dog rockets, or yardgars.

I also quit saying that "an un-aged Opus isn't worth smoking." Several years ago a friend adamantly declared that he greatly preferred "fresh" Opus for their strength. I've since become able to appreciate both speeds.

I don't have "years"yet but I've found myself shifting gears from quantity to quality. Instead of trying to get the most cigars for my money at the Devils site, I've started buying fewer better quality singles at the B&M's and at other online shops.
