Syrian Latakia.....

Anybody have any experience with the Syrian Latakia? I picked up a dose of this Ashton Artisan's Blend with it in the blend. I've been letting it marinate for a year now as I've been trying to finish up a lot of my odds and ends before opening more new tins. Can you notice the difference between it and that from Cyprus?......

I have very limited experience with it, but it seems to be milder than Cyprian. Not as in your face.

The one I have smoked the most is Frog Morton Across the Pond. It is a very nice blend.

It has a richer, almost earthy note to it in contrast to the actinic note that I get from Cyprian Latakia, at least IMO. I actually like them both, but for different reasons.

Two blends to compare would be SG's Commonwealth and McClellands 3 Oaks Syrian. Commonwealth is 50% steamed Cyprian so you'll get a good idea of the flavor, but even if you don't care for it do yourself a favor and get the 3 Oaks. Jesus H. Christ it's amazing. I love it....think I'll order some right now and stock up haha
