Prelight: Julieta must like them thick, as this robusto sports a girthy 54RG. Much like the Vintage, there is a plethora of packaging, with an oversized band, foot band and a sheath that feels almost like wax paper. The artwork is cool and eye-catching though. The wrapper is light in color and is extremely smooth to the touch, with only a couple small veins. The scent is faint and woody. The foot is dense, and although woody, has a bit more aroma to it than the wrapper leaf. It’s a very uniform and refined looking cigar. The cold draw is (surprise, surprise) woody and the pull is right where I like it.

1/3: The cigar starts out very mildly, with notes of oak and pepper. Soon, some creaminess enters the picture as the pepper fades. The ash is dense, light grey, and lasts just over an inch at a time; the burn is near-perfect.

2/3: There is no peppery spice in the second third. The flavors are still mild, and comprising mostly of cream and oak. As I near the final third, there are hints of cardamom and traces of coffee.

3/3: The final third starts as simple as the rest of the cigar – cream, oak, and a little coffee. But there is some complexity in the final third, as I pick up some dry hay, which evolves to sweet grass. Chocolate adds to the coffee and the oak increases. The nub is absolutely amazing.

Overall: The construction of this cigar is perfect. The flavors are good at the beginning, then become simply awesome by the end. At first, my attention waned as the lack of complexity bored me, but as I reached the final inch, I lamented that this cigar was coming to an end. Combine those factors with the low MSRP of this cigar, it is a must try for all the Puffers out there. It is a mild cigar (not medium as websites suggest) so don’t expect a flavor bomb. But, it is subtle, delicious, and easy to smoke.
