Prelight: Sporting a shaggy foot (Get it? Shaggy…like a dog, or rather a wolf.) the cigar is a milk chocolate color, with only a few extremely small veins on the wrapper, which has a sweet, floral smell to it. The aroma of the foot reminds me of chocolate chip cookies and milk. The cigar is very dense and has no soft spots. While clipping the cap, I ran into some resistance due to a fairly large stem in the middle of the filler. The cold draw is pretty loose, and has a sweet, woody flavor.

1/3: Before I get to the wrapper, the shag foot (which was very easy to toast and light) has a strong pepper flavor to it. Once I get to the Sumatra wrapper, not only does the loose draw get better, I begin to get a leathery flavor as well. Nuts are also noticeable in the profile. As the first third continues, the leather increases and I start to detect some sweet cream also.

2/3: The onset of the second third is creamy leather, with some slight wood and pepper. The ash lasts nearly to the halfway point and the burn line is perfect. After the ash falls, the profile changes and cedar is upfront while I get a creamy leather on the finish.

3/3: The final third sees a reverse of the aforementioned profile: creamy leather is upfront and cedar is in the finish. However, soon cedar takes over the entire flavor profile. That is, until the final inch and a half. I begin to taste some bitter-sweet grass on the finish, but once there is only an inch left, the burn becomes hot and I have to put it down.

Overall: Another good cigar by Tatuaje. While I wouldn’t call it “nub worthy”, due to the nub being hot and bitter, it was an enjoyable cigar. There was some good evolution and the construction was really good. I would have preferred a little tighter draw, but that can be subjective. If you like Tatuajes, or Nicaraguan cigars in general, this is a must-try.
