View Full Version : If you had the ability to: $200,000 COHIBA 50 ANIVERSARIO HUMIDORS
I just read this on Halfwheel and I keep asking myself if I had the funds would I. Honestly as nice as they may be I don't think I would. Doesn't seem like it's really worth the cost. Just my $.02.

Hell no.
And there's this: "...interestingly for a Cuban release, each cigar comes wrapped in protective cellophane"
So... let me get this straight... 'Cuban' cigars in cello?!? Obvious fakes!! :p :p :p :p

You gotta have a lot of funds for $200k to be expendable!!! I mean, I'm lucky that the Opus 20th came out around my birthday or my wife might kill me for cigars at $25 a stick. Even as a combo birthday/Christmas gift I got a sideways look. That $4,000 a stick! $4,000! I don't know that I could light $4,000 on fire. Let's say you smoked that bad boy for 3 hours, that's $1,333 an hour. If you take that rate and pretended you were getting paid that hourly at work, that's $2,666,000 a year! So, I guess my answer would be no. NO NO NO!!
I wonder how much shipping is! I'm guessing, not free.

This is swag for the 1%. Even if I was mega powerball wealthy and lit my cigars with Ben Franklins I still couldnt see the value. I mean you could buy a brand new Lamborghini Huracan for $200K!

This post inspired me to pick up this Cohiba humidor up just in time for Christmas. Luckily my NBC American Express Gold can handle that amount of charge. After reading the article I knew the only thing missing in my life was a humidor lined with cigar leaves covered in 24 carat gold. Now my life is complete! Plus a 7x60 cigar? The icing on the cake. Normally I only smoke a Gurkha in that size but now I'll add Cohiba to the rotation as well.

If I had that kind of money to throw around, I can think of a thousand better things to throw it at :)
That having been said, there's something exquisite about the fact that (a) we live in a society where such wretched excess is actually conceivable, and (b) some dumbass will actually buy it.

A little pricey for me.
But, I did send the link to my kids, in case they needed a last minute gift idea....:blockhead:

I had like a million dollars to my name - of course not.
If I had "serious cash", like made 5 mil + a year, then sure, why not? According to the earlier math, I'd still be making money while I smoked 'em
What's the point in having a billion dollars if you don't buy things "normal folks" can't really imagine owning? It's called being eccentric!

Ya know 1 for the office and one for the vacation home in Zurich.
$#!T I need 1 more for the house in Nor*Cal. Man I hope they don't sell out!
Cheers

This is what they call F U kind of money and when you have that kind of money to throw around you can buy anything you want. It's all relative and while I can afford $10 cigars all day long it's when I throw $20 at a cigar my sphincter tends to tighten up a bit. Not everybody can afford expensive cigars and to charge this kind of money makes no sense as we're talking about tobacco. I think it's more about "exclusiveness" than having a cigar worth that much because quite frankly they aren't worth that kind of coin. I've smoked $50 and $100 cigars and I'll tell you with a certainly they weren't worth it. The fact is that bragging rights are what motivate sales for cigars that cost this much. JMO

hmmm.... the cost of 50 of the Cohiba 50 Aniversario cigars vs. the cost of buying enough of just about any other CC you can name to be able to smoke one every day of the year for the next 40 years (and keeping them in a perfectly humidified and very cheap tupperdor)... This is a tough one.

No matter what I made they would not be worth it. If I made $10 mil a year, I wouldn't do it

If I could afford $200k for cigar related items, it wouldn't be on that.
You could build a helluva nice walk in humidor in your home and fill it with a lot more premium cigars than that and set up a smoking room like Michael Jordan has (look that up if you haven't seen it).

The temperature and humidity tracking and monitoring via an exclusive app for your mobile device totally makes it worth it! :p Then you can also get exclusive notifications of other releases, so you have an opportunity to drop a few more G's. :greedy_dollars: What about the travel humidor? you know, you wouldn't want to take these babies out in just any old herfador.
