The double maduros are great, especially at their price point!

Agreed.

I like their original line too and they do very well kept for a few months in a 62-rh box Spanish (no cello) before smoking. Very nice leathery taste.

Grimalkin Torpedo...6.5x52 Like this shiny/oily re hued wrapper, the green/black band with those eyes looks and contrasts well with that wrapper...best of all tho, it's the excellent smoking experience of the Grimalkin that makes me wish I had a greater number

Think...Dog Rockets and Gurkhas...huge warehouse filled to the rafters with bales of them.

Well not really, but sure wouldn't mind having a few more boxes of Grimalkins.

Just finishing off a clever little Fonseca something or other that I picked up cheap on the cbid, which I started while doing some wiring on my truck - installed a proper power cord (wired directly to the battery) for my new ham radio (early xmas present). Its max power setting is 75W, and transmitters typically run at about 50% efficiency, so (doing the formulas/math/etc.) I didn't want to be pulling 15A thru my cigarette lighter socket.

The important part is, my soldering iron is an absolute piece of junk and just wasn't up to the task of soldering 14ga wire, BUT my cigar torch lighter was :)

Hi Trace,
Hope you liked that one.
I don't "get" all the all the subtle naunces when smoking, or at best I may pick up on some, but can't name them.
To date I'ts been my experience that all of the Don Pepin Garcia smokes I've had with some age on them have good.
Haven't had any that (to me) have fallen off the edge to lose taste.

Missed smoking any of the Murcielago line when fresh.
One that I found to just get better and better still with some four - five years on them was the Vegas Cubanas, wish they were still being made.
Cheers,
Bob.

Warped La Colmena...6x36 This is one great cigar, I'm not given to superlatives in relation to cigar, but dang if this isn't an exceptional smoke. I actually is a 33 RG, not uncommon to find cigars measuring a bit less than the stated ring gauge assuming that the measurement states the size when freshly rolled. In this case even to the naked eye the slimness is obvious, but it's a helluva good cigar in all respects. This too I'd gotten from Old Smokey, Steve you certainly did send me an exceptionally fine selection of top shelf smoke, many thanks.

Edit: Do wish I'd a photo or two to post here.

This afternoon I had a 6X50 Padilla Habano Toro cigar.:stogie: I got these cigars on 11-16-2015 at auction and after its allotted time in the freezer I am finally having one. I have not smoked a Padilla in more than a year and I had heard from a friend that this was a good cigar so I had to try it.:leprechaun: After lighting this cigar I got initially creamy wood with a little pepper and spice. At the mid-point some chocolate was added with a nice oily texture. The construction of this cigar was excellent with no difficult veins, excellent burn and nice free flowing draw. This cigar was on the high side of medium with lots of smoke and flavor. I topped off this smoke with a large mug of hot coffee and I am anticipating this cigar after several months of aging.:thumb:

I'm not good at reviewing cigars. The maduro wrapper was slightly oily and tiny beads formed on it during the last inches. The wrapper was tasty. The smoke flavor was medium in power and intensity. I enjoyed the 5 Vegas 'A' very much but was a little preoccupied with what I was doing, jarring up some pipe tobacco.

Found some of these in a local shop when I was in Panama City Beach for a weekend getaway and bought one.
I enjoyed it a lot. Don't know that the unique shape was worth the extra $ but it was a good smoke nonetheless.

Going to fry one of these Gurka reserve 18 tonight at work, will report back with a opinion.

Didn't smoke the Gurka because my buddy brought in a Ashton 898 and it was goooooood! Smooth mild flavor with a nice toasty, nutty finish with a creamy smoke. I'd defiantly do another one.

First cigar for me on this Pearl Harbour day Anniversary. No,hadn't started smoking cigars on that day back in '41.
Maybe this Guerrilla Warfare is an odd choice, but it's lit now, at 5.25x43 it's a bit of a contrast to the Paul Stulac Fantasma I smoked earlier, that was a hefty Box Pressed Cigar at 6x58. This un from Viva Republica is really a lightweight in the hand, but much like Roberto Duran...some lightweights are outstanding

Smoking an Espinosa Sequel Robusto

earlier a box-pressed, Nica Libre Toro (better than the current stick).

I found a stash of 15 Montecisto and 10 La Gloria de Cubana Series R along with some decent samplers. Put them all in the 62-rh box and blew a kiss to Good Fortune because I usually forget where I put the lesser stuff.

A.Fuente Hemingway Short Story...4x42~49 Been a while since I've smoked on of these, always a well constructed and pleasing smoke when you sit back relax and just enjoy the cigar, a nice cup of hot coffee only makes it that bit nicer, smoked indoors tonight while trying to catch up a bit on reading.

Found that I'd posted this (above) yesterday, at 1:05 AM in the wrong thread.

Smoking right now a Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Corona...5.5x44 This is the second of a pair sent to me by Old Smokey.
Very well constructed, evenly burning, about at halfway point now.
Like this size I do and wish a few other blends that I enjoy smoking had a corona this size in their line up.
Thanks Steve for another fine smoke.

This afternoon I had a 5X54 Sons of Anarchy Black Crown Robusto cigar.:stogie: This cigar has been resting in my 65% rh humidor since 6-30-2015. I was in one of my fuzzy moods and bidded ridiculously low on these cigars and never expected to win; I cannot remember my bid but it was low.:idunno: A week later I got an email that I had won and I said to myself "OK what are you going to do now". After lighting this cigar I got wood, leather, spice with a little sweetness which was consistent throughout the entire cigar. This cigar was not complex, but had this great tobacco flavor; it produced lots of delicious smoke, with a great burn and excellent draw. I absolutely loved the smell of the tobacco; I lefted the room for a short time and came back in and the smell of this stick was ecstasy.:chicken: This is not a stick that I would smoke often, but every now and then it would be a delight. I topped off this smoke with a large mug of hot coffee and had a relaxing afternoon.

2009 La Gloria de Cubana (~7" x 47-rg) with Dr. Brown's Diet Black Cherry. Seasonally warm day.

These were a JR custom size, sold in boxes of 50, Spanish (no cello). Short story is that the box was fallen upon and cracked so I've been bouncing the remaining few sticks in different humis depending on proximity to use.

Miami made La Gloria de Cubana (mid 1990s and before) were amongst my favored smokes for several years. I found their Dominicans production to be less consistent but generally (quite) good. These JR LGdC, Dominican made, are more similar to the Miami quality.

I don't know what this is. I got it at my local BM for $8 and change. It looked beautiful, oil wrapper, firmly packed, nice roll with closed foot and pigtails cap. I'm smoking it now and I'd guess it was Nicaraguan.

Had a CI "Nicaraguan 90+ Second", robust last night while walking the dog. For the $$, they have been pretty darn good. I have a handful left, I may try a coffee infusion with a couple...

Tonight, I had a CAO Black, Bengal (Toro) while out with the dog.

One in each hand Sir DogRockets?
I've figure he's smoking two at a time on account of he needs room for the Skinny Monsters coming out. Momma told him the basement and two bedrooms full of cigars have to go before any more purchasing. Go Jeremy go!

It was pretty good and I'll definitely grab more next time there. I bought 3 cigars with either no label or hand written label at the recommendation of the proprietor, one of which he told me he rolled. This was at Rocky's Cigars in Syracuse. I hadn't between there in probably 15 yrs and remember them as having limited choices...but things have changed. They just moved to the top of the list for local places.

My first of these...L'Altier La Mission. A very mottled rustic wrapper, but so far pretty tasty.

Taking advantage of the awesome weather with this and a local cab sauv. Thanks WNYTONY

Perfect ! Hope you liked it Kevin
I got out and played 18 today. 84 wasn't bad for not playing and the shape the course was in.
Smoked a Roberto Duran Tainos on the course and just finished up a Santiago Kandy Kane courtesy of Hardheaded

It was pretty good, but not like wow and bigger than I usually smoke so not something I'd seek out. Got a little bite to it on that final inch.
