Cigar wasn't too bad but nothing to write home about. Great construction and burn as with most padron's; but very delicate ash... I couldn't get it to hang on more than 3/4 of an inch.
Almost got ash on my pork tenderloin I was grilling...

Monday evening a Grimalkin Torpedo...6.5 x 52 do really like the wrapper shade on these, they have a silky feel too, best of all the cigar is very enjoyable.
Would like to find something else from the My Father factory that matches it. If I were able to "age or rest" any Don Pepin Cigar, it would be the Grimalkin.
However most likely they'd wind up as enjoyable as a Dutch Masters that had been left sitting on a windowsill for half a century.

Yes, it was cold last night. Secret to staying out in the cold (on a chair) is to put a blanket beneath and cut off air flow around the legs. My wife can smell anything that was or has been around burning tobacco for up to 100 days after the event (seems that way) but my outdoor smoking is voluntary and she never asked me to do it.

Yeah my Mrs has a "super snout" too! But I can usually get the smell out if I have a day or two before she gets back.
Maybe I'll give the blanket a shot. I also remember seeing something about a ceramic flower pot & candle heater post somewhere. No electricity on my balcony yet & I don't trust propane. And to be honest, I can't take bundling up to smoke. It takes the relaxation out of it for me.

Hi Brian,
As a bundler, I can relate but the reasons that I'm outside so much would be a long and boring explanation. It's outside or I don't smoke. My biggest worry is that I get so comfortable that I fall asleep and my daughters have found me that way, several times, in sub 20 degree temperatures, (with frozen drinks).

After lighting this cigar I got chocolate, leather, and spice with a great balanced delicious complex flavor. This cigar exuded that deep mustiness of aged tobacco that I love. The construction of this cigar was excellent with no difficult veins, razor sharp burn and excellent draw; dang-it I still have half a box left and I cannot think why I have waited so long.:idunno: I sat back and sipped on this cigar 2hours 15 minutes allowing the delicious wispy smoke to curl around my nose; I was in ecstasy! I topped off this smoke with a large mug of hot coffee and this has been a "Cigar Event".:yes!:

Perdomo Small Batch half Corona. Very mild and mellow cigar that has underlying hints of spice and wood. Need to burn a second to get a better opinion.
Perdomo Mini Cigarello Maduro...Stronger than the medium flavor review that Cigar Boss gave it IMHO, but mellow in flavor. Defiantly has very subtle hints of wood and spice.
Both were smoked with a good buddy just shooting the breeze and enjoying a smoke in the crisp Rocky Mountain air. Today was a good day.

Wednesday evening a La Aurora Serie Aniversario 107 Lancero ...6.9 x 40...not one hundred percent of the ring gauge, but 40rg is not far off.
This perfect size (for me) cigar was received in a Bomb from Cardinal. Can't recall ever smoking anything in the La Aurora 107 line.
Now,I've one more cigar I intend to smoke more of. Honestly I am a slow smoker. Seems I smoke slower than the average. here's a timed account
for this Aurira 107 Lancero: lit at 6:30pm...at 5:17pm five inches left to smoke...at 6:33pm there were three inches left...put it down with less than one inch left. so total smoking time one hundred sixty one minutes. Smoked on my front porch watching and listening to the rain falling in the background to some fine sounds from Miles Davis, Sidney Bechet finishing off with a nice taste of wonderfully evocativeand unique Gribouille.
NeverBend.......there you have it Pete an accurate account of my time spent smoking this cigar today.
Still can not explain how I got so much more time when smoking a much shorter 4.7x48 Quesada Resrva Privada.
The other Quesada R.P.s, tho not timed did not last nearly as long.
Have one more left to smoke...intend to note the smoking time, doubt it'll last much beyond ninety minutes.
Do not like trying to keep track of how long it takes to smoke a cigar.
Usually will be aware of the time I light up the cigar, but then lost in the smoking experience,
and often in some music, fail to notice the time when the cigar 's done.
Just want to smoke a good cigar whilst relaxing.
Only way I know to preserve the tenuous grip on the little sanity I've left.

May I ask the size of that cigar, and how you liked it?
Looks as if it would have paired well with the Heineken.
Think we well have a few more of these rainy Joisey days this week.
So time to enjoy before Winter starts to bite.

It almost blew my mind when she said that - I thought she was being sarcastic at first. She was about 20 years older than me, but if I wasn't married I would have asked for her number
Glad you liked the 107. I've tried a bunch of different vitolas in the line and they're all fine, but the lancero is the only one that stands out. Even the similarly small RG corona just doesn't match up in my mind, but I am in love with the lanceros.

2013 Obsidian Box-Pressed Toro with Cafe au Lait (Cafe du Monde chicory coffee). Magnificent day, sunny and 73 degrees. Yum!
Looking to re-order this coffee, $6.70 for a 15 ounce tin, quite reasonable, but shipping on 5 tins adds about $3/tin. I'll figure it out.
Edit: Noticed that I was the last to post, so I just added the edit.
I'm holding off on purchasing any coffee due to some unforeseen generosity :)
Speaking of generosity, Joya de Nicaragua Antano Machito (~4-1/2 x 42-rg). Lovely little corona, thanks c.ortiz108!

Rott...well within three hours...ready to be smoked.
Warped...Flor Del Valle...4.5 x 48...nice band, nice wrapper, good smelling cigar, neither too firm nor too lose.
Easy light, burn line just a bit wavy but quickly self corrected, required no touch-up/relights.
When they burn this well you know the construction is excellent, box date July-2015. Impressively smooth on retrohale.
Once lit, not set down, total smoking time just over two hours. Not that much shorter (time) than the 4.75x54 Quesada Reserva Privada

This was the Criollo. I liked it. It was a bit tangy, burned very well and had good construction all of the way to the end. All in all, pretty good for the price. I wouldn't probably go out of my way for it, but A pretty good budget cigar. It was enjoyable.

Cuban Reject Natural Cigarillo. Tasty and mild. Lite hint of spice and just a mellow smoke in general.
Romeo y Jullietta desperado (cone shape cigarillo). Mild but tasty, hints of spice, earth and wood make this a winner but the fact that it's slow burning makes it a new favorite.
Braniff Chico Maduro #3 cigarillo. For a long thin stick it packs a bunch of spicy goodness and is very mild and pleasing to me. Defiantly would be a good morning coffee (if I drank coffee) cigar.

I rather enjoyed the re-release of the El Centurion and just smoked the newer version, the H2CT. Easily as good as the other one but a kick milder. I would definitely smoke both of these again and think they would age very nicely, with some of the rough youth smoothed out a bit after a couple of years.

Video cameras, cell phones, pictures, pictures and more pictures.I'm sure all but the really young kids would've had a lot more fun if allowed to roam the streets in groups free of the constant oversight and coaching.
Good smoke, yup a good one.

I rather enjoyed the re-release of the El Centurion and just smoked the newer version, the H2CT. Easily as good as the other one but a kick milder. I would definitely smoke both of these again and think they would age very nicely, with some of the rough youth smoothed out a bit after a couple of years.
Smoked one of those the other night. I have to say that I liked the OR better.

Well along side a few of the cigarillos I had yesterday I broke out a Perdomo Lot 23 and had that after a hot bowl of pho. Not bad but I'm having some issues with my small humi (waiting for it to season properly) so the stick was dry. I don't think I can give a unbiased opinion right now. It was mild that has some mild wood and earth flavor and a toasty aftertaste but again it was pretty dry and the first one I have smoked so I will have to re address it when my second one has been in my humi a couple months.

Having a Brohiba, bro :)
This one has a CT broadleaf wrapper, one-sucker binder, and some hispanic leaves in the filler. It was born just under 2 months ago. I normally let them rest a bit longer than that, but I've either smoked or given/traded away all my older ones.
Flavor is okay, started out a little citrusy/metallic, but that has morphed into a more regular tobacco theme. Draw is good, but it's currently burning at about a 45 degree angle. I should hire better rollers :)

I like them. I didn't expect much, but purchased them for when I am working in the John Deere on the farm brush hogging, planting etc. The draw was a little tight at first, but they're loosing up. They do burn fairly fast. All in all, they're medium bodied and I'm tickeled to death to get these for a $1.60 a stick....

Cigarillos:
Dutch Delite Natural
Dutch Delite European blend: (TBA)
Romeo & Julietta (Btw still my favorite so far). More I smoke them the more I taste vanilla and spice.
Cuban Reject Natural. Overall not bad and mild but slowly slipping down the list. The Maduro are good but I need to get some and season them because the wrapper unravels about mid stick.
Acid: mild fragrance out of the package. Slight overtones of coco and light wood. I have 4-5more to form a better opinion but so far not terrible.

Tuesday Morning, no Tatuajes about...ahhh...but...a
Southern Draw Firethorn Toro...6x52.
This is exactly what a good cigar should be.
Light it,enjoy the time spent smoking it. Perfect Draw...that this cigar has in spades.
Top notch construction, even burn.
Once lit nothing to do but sit back, relax and enjoy an excellent cigar.
Some cigar makers churn out sixteen thousand twenty seven (or more) brands, sizes of cigars.
With the smoker having a very faint chance, at best, of finding one worth the match to light it.
It's very nice to find someone who does only a few things, but does them as close to perfection as possible.
When it comes to Cigars...Southern Draw delivers that experience.
Thanks Geo Bowman for this fine cigar.
Should have a photo...will do so next time.

Nice smoke Jeremy. Thanks!
Keep stroking....keep stroking until you're red in the face and plum tired... ;)

Your failures sound delicious!
Lol
Usually they are OK. I've only had one I dumped as I let the mash temp get away from me and created a sickly sweet oatmeal stout. The one major issue I've had seems to be oxidation from time to time. Those start out fine but end up with a bit of a weird twang.
This one isn't bad, though it's just not what I was after. But then when you change up your equipment or methods you have to assume challenges may come. Learning lessons for sure!
As it is this one is just a unique beer. Still good.

Sh!t.....another one on "the list"....

Bruck, no sir, you're not alone. I have had a couple of G2's, and enjoyed both. The new G2 maduro has me thinking about a 5er
I may be nuts, or maybe half nuts since they weigh 80 pounds and I'm 160 pounds, but didn't he have something to do with Cohiba's?...

Finally smoking the famed Tat Black Petit Lancero! Paired with some Knob Creek neat!
Draw started out a bit tight, trimmed off a bit more and it seems to be opening up. Otherwise pretty enjoyable thus far!
On a side note, I forgot how much bite the Knob Creek has lol

I really like them. They had an odd diamond shaped one that was even better. No sure why but it was.

Well my mother in law has been down since Friday and she went home today. So this calls for some celebration.

GeoBowman very kindly sent me some of the Kudzu, Firethorn and Quick Draw.
All look great, I've only smoked the Firetorn...intending to fire up the other two From Southern Draw with a day or two between each.
Have no reason to think the Kudzu and the Quick Draw won't be of the same top quality.
Fine blending, first rate construction (they must really have highly skilled rollers) and ready to smoke as soon as you get then.
Everything, to me, a good cigar should be.
Makes not one damn bit of sense to me for someone to sell a cigar that is not ready to be enjoyed when purchased.
One could buy/try a cigar, find it to be just, just ok at best...then never light one of that line again.
Thus leaving the maker with one less person who would be a steady customer.
It's my intention try to have some cigars from Southern Draw to hand from now on.

Finished about a half hour ago a Flor Del Valle Las Brumas...4.5x48 only the third of these I've smoked, a "shot in the dark" purchase that's turned out nicely ... lenght, ring gauge (size) offer a nice change from other cigar sizes.

Met one o the owners to Solid Rock Brewing and was handed the Kudzu. Great smoke! And great group of guys there. I was offered all the yeast I could ever want!
They even asked if I'd bring some homebrew. I asked for specifics (it was an open house and needed a head count), but didn't get a reply in time.

Surviving a fearsome ordeal always justification for a celebration.
Just joking here.
As I'm sure you are.
Having a fine cigar to hand is cause enougt to celebrate by lighting it up.
