Crowned Heads Paniolo tonight from Dijit
Very nice and I was expecting to like the smaller vitola but I think I like the Waltz better
I like the waltz better as well but the paniolo is good when I know I don't have time for a waltz.

Posting this late as I had this one last night. It is my first smoke by My Father and was given to me by a fellow BOTL that I have a class with at college.
I introduced him to pipe smoking by taking him about a dozen samples of different pipe tobaccos. He brought me this to class and said it was one of his favorites and wanted me to try one.
It is a really good smoke. Smooth and creamy with just a little pepper and sweetness. I like it a lot.

My Father Cedros Deluxe Cervantes...6.5x44...this was smoked Sunday afternoon,late posting in this thread.
While smoking this cigar I was comparing it to the My Father # 4 Lancero that I'd smoked a few days earlier,
while they share excellent construction,sharp burn line,etc for me the Cervantes is the better of the two,
in that the flavours while the same in both sizes,are in the Cervantes more pronounced,
most likely to the larger ring gauge,the Lancero is a ...7.5x38. Only my take on these cigars,
so tho expressed in this thread, have meaning only to me and are best ignored.

Few of these give a good and consistent smoke and they finish poorly. I have almost 2 boxes left so I'll put (most of) them in the dry humidor and a few nekkid (Spanish) to see if that helps.

Just finished smoking a Paul Stulac White Burning Light Toro...6x56...on a coolish Autumn Morning,Coffee(s) and a good cigar...almost ready for the day, almost. NeverBend.
~~~~~~~
You are so very right, it's far too hot to enjoy smoking on the front porch. But I'm about to light one of two remaining Davidoff long Panatellas.
The last of, ten, I think in a white tin with the date on the bottom of *10 A 8 08* can't recall how long it's been since the others were smoked.
Just want to get a smoke in now.
Then once it has cooled down somewhat,this evening will smoked the last Los Calaveras lC46 I have.
Didn't intend to smoke this one until 03 October,but just learned a very dear friend of more than 45 years died on September 3rd,it must be smoked tonight.
Doubt there's much chance of finding another for the October date, but if I'm still above ground, will think of something else.
This Davidoff, I've just lit, is rather dry, not a lot of smoke production, but, so far not as bad as feared...mild not a lot of flavour, but it's a very small ring guage, not burning at all fast...and that is good. Only a very short way into this cigar, and the amount of smoke has just about doubled.Not bad for what must be a rather Mild
cigar.Still more smoke production with no more than a quarter smoked...not at all bad from a cigar I expected would prove to be unsmoke able.
Edit ~ Update ~
NeverBend.
And I even got the wife to join me on the balcony this evening. Looks like the camera focused more on her than on the stick. Probably not a bad thing.
Last night I had an Ashton Aged Maduro (first for me) and a Cain Maduro Nub. Two pretty good maduros in their own way.
The Ashton had a nice natural chocolaty goodness to it. The Cain, while much stronger and takes a man like me to smoke, was sweeter than I remember it being.
Overall a good night outside with the wife.
Since my beer brewing day only uses a bittering addition with a 70 min boil I decided to set an alarm to check for a boil (it begins around 150-160* I'd guess) so as to add my hops and start my timer that a cigar was in order as it's been a while now. And though I wanted to try the Titan sent to me I wasn't sure how it would play with an ESB so I chose to try a Corona Cigar Co stick I recently got.
http://i58.tinypic.com/2a4wdaq.jpg
The first 5 mins was rough but it has mellowed a bit to be an ok smoke for $4 (shipping is included in the price). It's a bit meh, but might make a fair yard gar if there's space in an order to fill I guess.
It seems to play well enough with my ESB, which is nice.
Hello Brian,
You got me there. Much as I like The Paul Stulacs...sure do wish he had a Corona in one of his lines.
Right now I've more My Fathers cigars than Stulacs...A few of the My Fathers in smaller (44 -46) ring gauge.
Been trying for months to smoke up the larger ring gauge cigars while replacing them with more of the 42-44-46 ring sizes.
Larger sizes still out number the smaller ones, due in large part because I tend to smoke the smaller ones up faster.
Wish I could come up with photos as often as you, and ones as good.
Looking forwards to more of those photos.
Cheers,
Bob.
You can't go wrong with a My Father or DPG IN MY BOOK!
I bought a bundle of 10 of the DPG Cuban Classic and have NOT been disappointed! Will definitely have in my regular rotation. I always have some My Father in my humi! Typically Le Bijou Petite Robusto or Robusto; love that cigar.
I typically enjoy anything from 46 - 54 on a regular.
Stulac has me intrigued! I was gifted one (I forget which) and enjoyed it and have been dying to try the "No Dress Code." The shear # of NC's out there make having a variety easy. But how do you decide what to buy!!!!! I think I have a decent "variety" from bombs, secret Santa and some purchases. But I definitely have favorites, like everybody else.
Good luck dwindling down the stash.
And thanks for the compliment on the pics! iPhone & photobucket! :)
YESSIR!!
I had a natural a few years back, but smoked in less than favorable conditions (in the car & I think a much higher rH; I too keep mine between 62 & 65 now that I know better). This Maduro was awesome once I cut it & got the draw to open up!! I will get some more when available (stock & funds)!!!
I'm right there with you! The only MOW that I haven't had is the Virtue (wasn't crazy about the "milder" cigars, but have come to appreciate them)!
Also looking to try the Mayimbe! Supposed to be one of, if not his best blend!
2012 Pueblo Dominicano Torpedo. Dr. Brown's Diet Blackberry.
I was stoking the flame in my fire pit, thought I had it caught, when my new neighbors came over with their new puppy. The pup's a Neopolitan Mastiff so my expectations are for a horse like animal to be living next door.
I'm facing away from the fire, speaking to my new neighbor, unaware that his six year old daughter has crossed into my property behind me and is poking the fire with a stick, and her father's watching her do it, without saying anything. She pushed some logs and it cratered, I wheeled and took her by the hand, gently pulling her away and Dad said nothing. OK, at least I now know that I have to watch out for the kids (because Dad isn't) and possibly watch out for Dad too.
Tried a Padron '64 Maduro with some Glenmorangie LaSanta due to Billy Boulevard's (youtube PuroMaduro) recommendation.
1) I think Padron '64 Maduros are the perfect canvas for any interesting libation pairing.
2) I think Glenmorangie LaSanta would work with a host of cigars.
3) My default pairing for Padron '64 is Lagavulin 16. With LaSanta - it works. But 1+1=2. The best pairings work out to 1+1=3. Can't go wrong with either of the participants but they don't play off each other to achieve nirvana. Idiot-proof pairing though...
Close to finishing a 2012 CAO Churchill (natural). Several soft spots appeared after lighting but it's burned well. Light medicinal taste (touch sweet) but not as bad as that sounds. I have a couple of sticks remaining but won't go out of my way to acquire more. Long burning, had to re-light after interruptions but it handled that without degradation in taste. Similarities to Romeo Y Julieta but not as good.
Next up will be a 2012 Pueblo Dominicano Torpedo. Smells like a winner. Iced Dr. Brown's Diet Raspberry. Just me and the pond trying to get my sanity back after a tough day.
I've a hunch that you do like the Pueblo Dominicano cigars.
I'm not at all certain cigars can allow me to recover my sanity, bit too late for that, but they do allow for reflection and relaxation and with some good music make it a little easier to cope with the daily insanity that's all too pervasive today.
A question for you Pete, what would you say is the best *real* Sumatra (wrapper) cigar out there now?
Hi Bob,
My doctor has always been befuddled by the fact that my BP is higher when I've been in a non-smoking period (has happened a few times).
I'm the wrong person to ask about current cigars because I fell off a cliff in my knowledge of the business in 1992 (and earlier for cigars). I've had a few Sumatra wrapped sticks, at least a couple of Hoyo de Monterrey (ok) but the one that impressed me most (that I remember) was a La Gloria de Cubana. Can't even say when I last had a Sumatra wrapped cigar nor whether it was genuine. I took their word for it.
Yes, the Pueblo Dominicano (with a little age) really agree with my chemistry. The one that I'm smoking now has at least an hour left on it and it's a bit more sweet caramel than normal. The snork, as always, is lovely and I'm relaxed. You're a very slow smoker and would get the best of of these.
So for me, the consistency of the Pueblos are reliably relaxing and I too can never recover my sanity, but they harmoniously tie things together so that they seem less ludicrous and daunting. That's why the lower BP and serene smile. Some other sticks do this for me as, or more consistently, (Cuban Bolivars and Cuban Romeo Churchill Tubos), but like the song says, Love the one your with.
Regards,
Pete
