I just ordered several pounds of straight varietal tobaccos for blending from Pipe & Leaf. PipeandLeaf.com: Pipes, Tobaccos, Accessories - Pipe & Leaf (http://www.pipeandleaf.com/)
All of the ones I ordered are Cornell & Diehl products; Pipe & Leaf has spectacular pricing on these blending tobaccos, a good 30% cheaper than some of the competition.
If you are into blending tobaccos, where do you purchase them? What companies do you think produces the best blending tobaccos?

I'm partial to McClelland blenders, but the selection is not as much as I'd like.
C&D tobacco tends to taste funny to me. It dries out my mouth.
I really need to get some more blending tobacco! Interested in posting your thoughts on what you have?

I'm not much the blender (yet), but I've picked up some straight Burley, Latakia, Perique and some Nicotiana Rustica courtesy of Bruck for when I want to give it a try. I did try to make some blends last year and most were terrible......

Haven't tried McC blending tobaccos, but my experience in general is the opposite. I have liked McC blends I've tried, and they are quality, but something about them, perhaps the PG content in their bulks, irritate my mouth. C&D don't do that, although they can be a little bit "rough" sort of like a cigar can be due to a lack of additives.
If you ever want to trade C&D blends for McC, I've got a pound of McClelland I won't be smoking =)
As for the C&D blending baccy, I have had the ribbon cut burley, virginia flake (closer to a cube cut than a flake), ribbon cut perique, and latakia. all have been quality, but my skill in blending is pretty poor!

If Bryan doesn't want to trade, I will. I just bought a bunch of C&D blending tobaccos.

I don't have enough blending tobacco to blend, much less trade!
I certainly don't call "dibs" on any proposed blending trades.

:) Nicotiana Rustica doesn't have a lot of flavor by itself, but if you ever have a blend that's missing the "I need to have the room spin and turn green and empty my intestines right now" component, it'll do the trick.

I get most of my leaves from wholeleaftobacco.com, leafonly.com, and Larry the Tobacco Butcher in KY. From the first two I get Hispanic leaves for cigar rolling, and from Larry I get cigar leaves and pipe tobacco components.

Hey, we all need that every now and then. Say, when the wifey runs in and tells you she scored two tickets for the opera tonight.....
