I happened upon this fabulously rare stick while out the other day, and I felt that I must share the experience with my fellow Bums.

This stick is quite dark, almost Oscuro in color. It has a few veins visible, with a toothy feel. I was unable to detect prelight aromas or tastes. Hmmm...

First third is reminiscent of some seriously heavy body. The aromas are deep, and the tastes heavy. The tastes are protein (possibly aquatic) and a char note, the aroma is of vinegar and electronics.

Second third is where it gets the name Dark Magic. Coming over the bell in the stick, tastes are interchanging with the aromas. Now, I taste electronics (Sony? No, more like LG) and vinegar, and the aroma is definitely tuna fish. Wow, what a stick!

Final third, I get a new taste. Windex has appeared, and this is a magical stick. It has held a fantastic burn line, and tasted and smelled wonderful the whole way.

I think I will do some real massaging and TLCing of the rest of my handful of these. With a Padron band on them, I bet I could get $20ea out of them....

Trent, you have dug deep within your palate to ascertain the delicate flavors offered in a Guten Cala. 4 more and you will receive the most coveted badge of them all.

Bought a box several years ago and still have half a box left. I rarely smoke them unless it's a special occasion like when the Mariana Islands came under the control of the USA or Millard Filmores' birthday. I bought a box of the double humungous with a RG of 65X72 and so glad I did. My box came with a small tripod as well .

I found a few things by googling it, but is this a real cigar or are you guys pulling our leg?!?!?!

Don't think you can find them anymore. They have been out of production for a few years.

Yes, I agree; putting a Padron band on them would seriously devastate the value.

That's what you all say but I know it's just a ruse to try and keep demand down there by increasing your own chances of scoring a box. Shame on you!

Indeed. Although even in the best of times they are exceedingly rare. I have regular contact with the Gutencalaberg family, and even I can only score a few here and there.

I'm eagerly awaiting the newest maduro offering - it's a set of 5 specially-blended (each one different) cigars in a maduro cedar box. You smoke the whole box, with the cigars inside.
