The Avo Classic was the first moderately priced good stick I had (non CC), and it's still the "higher" priced smoke I turn to.
I received a Davidoff catalog with my recent order and hastily thumbed through it. I know Avo came from there and that they are a reputable company.
Who else should I consider as I work on my next cart once I've purchased, and now that I have a small stash of cheaper smokes I intend on buying some nicer ones (likely from Small Batch)?
Here are a few of my favorites:
La Aurora 1495 Series
La Gloria Cubana Serie R
Man O' War Ruination
MUWAT
Nub by Oliva
Oliva Serie V
Oliva Serie V Melanio
Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project
Room 101 Uncle Lee
San Cristobal
San Lotano Oval
Tatuaje 10TH Anniversary

Aren't the Nub series precisely that?
I'm finding I prefer a >50 ring, though ~50 is doable and what I typically have bought. The 4.0 X 38's I've been smoking make me feel like Clint along with the scruffy face.

Tatuaje Black petite lancero is pretty good. I didn't notice any strength from them.

I've always liked the Ashton vsg rott in addition to getting better with age.

Davidoff Nicaragua Toro, Debonaire Habano Robusto (at Cigar Federation), Diamond Crown #5, Diamond Crown Julius Caeser Toro.
Some are a little more than $13 but these are all ones I'd recommend trying. The Diamond Crown #5 is probably the closest to medium strength depending on who you ask.

RoMa Craft Intemperance EC/BA will fit that bill nicely. I prefer the EC to the BA, but both goodly smokes and hang around the medium mark.

Tatuaje Havana series. All cheaper than what you requested and smoke way better.
I second the Flor De Las Antillas as well.
Also Fuente Don Carlos. I know some people get a bit more feel for strength out of them, but I find them to be a solid medium-medium high.

I'll second the Oliva Vs and Anejo 46s. Lots of good recommendations in the thread really. The My Father #1 is an excellent choice as well - you can't go wrong with any from that line, honestly.
I'll throw out the Espinose Laranja and Illusione Fume d'Amor as my 2 favorite new-to-me cigars this year. Especially the Illusione, its an absolute classic IMO.
