Getting ready to buy my second box in the next couple months and Its gonna be Oliva V.
For now I am leaning towards the #4 because I like smaller sizes, but the lanceros that I smoked weren't as good as the Churchill that I had.
I have had a couple other sizes smaller than the Churchill and none hit me like that Churchill. But, I have liked everything enough to plan to get them for my next box.
So what is your favorite Vitola of Oliva V (not Melanio)?
PS Read Cardinal mention his Beloved Oliva V's, so I especially want to hear from him.
Thanks

I find the whole line to be decent when it come's to Vs. Around here the old timers swear the churchill the absolute best. While it was fantastic I tend to lean towards a torpedo or belicoso. I wish they made a V in a salomon. Now that would be delightful.

I tend to go for the belicoso or double robusto. That '11 Churchill that I had a while back was awesome, too
Love all the Oliva vitolas; my go to are the Lancero and Double Robosto. All time favorite is the Figurado.

I've smoked the lancero, torpedo, belicoso, double robusto, No. 4, and a diadema or two, but I've never had the churchill. My favorite is the double robusto, just by inches though. They're all recognizable to me as Vs - in fact, I actually got one right in a blind review pass last year (the torpedo, even though I'd never had that vitola previously).
I've done a couple boxes of the robusto and one of the No. 4, but I'd happily buy a box of any. The 36ct box of lanceros is a bit much for me though. I will say I smoked one of the No. 4s within 4-6 weeks of receiving the box and it wasn't very good, but fast forward 6-8 months and they're right up there with the robusto and any of my favorite small cigars. I'll buy another box of those when I get close to finishing my current one.
Soooooo, the moral of the story is buy any of them and also now I want to try one of those churchills. I think I actually have one floating around the humi.

They actually do make this 6x60. I've never seen one outside of photos though, and the size isn't really up my alley. A couple of the big internet stores show them in stock though.

I'm with Tim on this one, years ago they were one of my favorite sticks and still are today.

I may have to seek some out. I tend to shop B&M mostly and have not run across this.

I prefer the Belicoso and Double Robusto
Love the lanceros with some looooong nap time. Both the burn and the taste improve immensely with time with them IMO. #4 would be a great size too. I don't really care for the big vitola these days.

I'm a big fan of the #4. That will most likely be my next NC box.

That Oliva V #4 has gotten my intention and a fiver may well find it's way to me in the near future.

That was the first Oliva V I smoked. Easy on the palate with milk chocolate & creamy latte. A nice long smoke.

Always solid, always realiable. Year after year the Olivas deliver quality, delicious tobacco.
fastnbulbous It depends on what you prefer. Theyve made close to 25 different vitola for Oliva V over the years, most of those being one-of, single store releases. Personally, Im a big fan of smaller ring gauges, lonsdales and corona gordas being some of my favorites but in Oliva V the lancero is my least preferred. It just lacks depth and complexity. The perfecto is dynamic but only for a brief moment. Of those readily available, Id support Tims recommendation for the Dbl Rob. and would have no issues if someone passed me a churchill by the fire pit.

Having had the good luck to've smoked a couple of the Oliva Serie V No.4's through the courtesy of Cardinal I'll have to amend my prior statement that I'd like to grab "a fiver of these Oliva's." To.... can see a box of them as a future purchase.

Had one of the 4's shortly after they arrived. I agree with Cardinal that it was not what i was hoping for. So now they are sitting in my humidor waiting. Just pulled out the second for my "to smoke" humidor. Probably in the next month, at most.
Was also back in the Lehigh Valley to visit family in June and stopped by the 191 CI and picked up an Oliva V Churchill. Smoked within a week on Fathers Day and it was all that I remembered. Definitely one of my favorites. Hopefully the 4's will turn into something similar.
