I've been looking for a VaPer in the form of rectangular flakes. I cut my flakes into small squares, and it's a bit easier to do that with rectangular flakes. More importantly, rectangular flakes in a rectangular tin store much more compactly than coin flakes in a round tin I'm getting low on space for cellaring.
The only candidate that I've found to date is "Solani Virginia Flake With Perique". What do you folks think of it? In particular, how does its taste compare to Escudo or Dunhill DLNR?
According to one review that I saw, it's topped with honey, and has less Perique than Escudo both negatives in my book.

There is a vape thread in CB Lifestyles down the page on the main index.:shake:

Interesting, and I learned a bit about the site, but vaping isn't my thing.

Sorry about that, another senior moment! Carry on.

Damn Alan, it's back to the re-education camp for you. It's just good to know it's not just me and I'll have a classmate....;-)

I occasionally get cornfused by VA-Per vs. vaping myself :)
Anyway, Pipe Smoker, if you PM me your mailing address, I'll send you a sample of some flake I recently pressed - VA, perique, cavendish, and oriental.

VaPer flake check.
Rectangular tin check.
So another candidate tobacco thanks for the suggestion! Less expensive than the Sobrani too. One question though: are the 50g tins the small size (like Capstan and Dunhill Flake) or large (like SG FVF)?

Same size as the FVF.
Orlik has the small 50g tins, but it only has a little bit of perique.
I think you might be able to find the little 50g square tins of Rattray's Marlin Flake at smokingpipes.com

That's a very kind offer, and I thank you for it, but I'm going to pass because I'm not a cavendish fan. So many tobaccos, so little time
You press your own flakes? I'm impressed!

Thanks for suggesting some options, but
Re: "Same size [tin] as FVF."
Darn I'm looking for compact storage.
Re: "Orlik has the small 50g tins, but it only has a little bit of perique."
That would be "Golden Sliced"? Didn't much like it scarcely any Perique, and not a particularly good Virginia IMO. I have two unopened tins cellared 3/2013 maybe better now.
Re: "Rattray's Marlin Flake."
Has black cavendish darn.
I'm thinking that I'll just have to order a few tins of the Solani. Maybe I'll like it as a Virginia, even if its Perique component is lower than I prefer.
