Russ typically puts together a special selection of goodies (pipes, tools, tobacco, cleaners, etc.) and gives it away to the first XXX-so many customers who spend a minimum of $100 on IPSD. It is ALWAYS worth the effort to land one :)

I pulled up my order and it wasn't there on my pad, plus I was having some kind of connection problems with their site. So, when I got home to finish the order they were sold out of the bonus bags. Look... I've got TAD as bad as anyone, but I perused P&C for 45 minutes, and my meager self control kicked in. Bulk prices just not that great, nothing that appealing.

I'll be saving my money for SP.com's next C&D bulk sale.... and probably blow at least 100 bucks in the blink of an eye. In fact I already know which 4 blends I'll be getting a pound of for certain :facelick:

Got some good stuff today, but not in time to get the P&C goodies. Frankly the goodies are ideal for newbies anyway, so I won't feel any regret. I have been on the scene long enough that I know what I like and I know what my cellar needs. I'm over-burdened with trendy pipe tools. If P&C decides to honor the pipe holiday at 12am in the actual day I'd spend hundreds. I do not like that they consider the day before as perfectly viable. EST is EST. Don't pander to other time zones. You cheapen the offer. Dude, your close neighbors in PA hate you when you do this.

Being a relative noob to the pipe world, how long has this IPSD been going on? This year was the first I've heard of it. Is it just a day for retailer/e-tailer specials, or is there more to it?

2008, if I remember correctly. It started in Europe as an online movement and grew to really be appreciated worldwide. Of course, it was meant on one side to be a way for smokers to enjoy this fine pursuit together (in person or online) but on the other side I think it was also meant as an activist movement to remind normal folks that pipe smoking is still a thing and it's not nearly as harmful as the powers that be would lead you to believe. Since then it's been co-opted as a sales day by the retailers.

Speaking of IPSD, my order from SmokingPipes arrived: four tins of Bengal Slices, two tins of SG Lakeland Dark, and five tins of SG Cabbie's Mixture. I didn't win a prize pack. :(

If you look closely, the Cojimar cigarillos are; Mango ? :updown: Now, I like mango, but not sure about in a cigar. They look very sticky and gooey on the tips. The smell is what it might be like under a mango tree... after the fruit has dropped and fermented on the ground for a few months in the the tropical heat and humidity with the fruit flies buzzing around. :puke:
