I could use some experienced pipe builders/restorers opinions on something (please and thank you). I'm contemplating a new pipe carve, but I'd like to do something out of the ordinary. While I've always liked the bent billiard shape, I'm considering making the bowl out of Northern Michigan cherry. Does anyone have any experience with cherry pipes? Is this a worthwhile endeavor, or do cherry pipes just end up not being worth the hassle. Any and all opinions would be appreciated.

This is a good read pertaining cherry wood(s) and other hard woods.
