Latest flakes and rope projects from the Bruck laboratory:

From top to bottom:

Flake batch 31: "Tobias Surprise." Mix of VA: bright, red, and lemon. KY burley, KY MD 609, Imzir, cigar scrap cavendish, Latakia, and about an ounce of Tobias' Surprise. Cased w/ DW.

Flake batch 32: Navy plug/chaw. Mostly VA: bright, red, and lemon; small amounts of burley, MD 609, prilep, and imzir. Cased w/ DW and rum/vanilla.

Rope batch 3: Attempt to simulate Gawith Brown #4. Outer leaves: KY Dark Air; inner leaves: KY VA Bright and KY CT Broadleaf, plus some cigar scraps for filler.

Actually the entire brick of Tobias Surprise is on its way to Tobias right now, but don't tell him! :) He earned it - he's sent me bales of raw materials!

I will step up and take one for the team and try out the rope. ( just to make sure its safe, of course).

Trying some of the poop-bacco right now. It's way premature as it is not settled into the right moisture level (way too wet still) and these twists need quite a bit of "rest" to develop their flavors. But how can you look at that thing and not think, I've got to slice off a hunk of that and smoke it right now??? :)

Flavor's not too bad as it is; pretty much like unadorned tobacco at this point, and quite strong/spicy. & a little tough to keep lit.

It makes pretty good chew, in case the orderlies don't allow you to have matches. Just had some while shoveling out from the DC blizzard - nice brown spit stains on the virgin white snow :)
