The Xikar XV is the V cutter to which all other V cutter's are compared. I imagine if you ask most people what the best quality V-cutter to buy they would say Xikar.

While I've found I prefer a standard straight cut, I do occasionally enjoy a V-Cut and I'm happy to have the right tool for that job! I was honestly surprised when I received the cutter and noticed the reverse V on the blade. From what I can tell this is the key to getting clean cut's and why the Xikar is the best out there. One nice feature of this cutter is that one side is concave which allows the cutter to act as a cigar rest, keeping the cigar from rolling away and up off the table.

My one complaint about the XV is that the metal on metal action during the cut is a bit grating, I wish it was smoother. That's not to say that the cutter catches or doesn't slide well, it does. What I mean is that the rails joining the two halves could be polished a bit more so you don't notice that you're sliding two pieces of metal across one another.

Xikar will give you a free "leather" case which I highly recommend getting by filling out a form on their website.
If you want to try a V cut or have been using a V cut and just want the right tool, do yourself a favor and pick up the Xikar XV...it's the best in its class.
