Ring Gauge (Reputation):
What is Ring Gauge?
Cigar Bum uses a system known a Ring Gauge or "RG". Very simply, it’s a "ready-reference" for how a member is perceived by his community. The system allows you to give another member "point" credit for the quality of their posts and their overall activity and contributions to the forum.
How do you give Ring Gauge?
To give RG, click on the "Star" icon (Add to this user's Ring Gauge) in the relevant post. You'll be directed what to do on the new page. The system limits you to the number of times you can use RG within a given time period.
RG is commonly referred to as “a Bump”.
How much Ring Gauge can I give out?
The amount (# of points) of Ring Gauge you can give out will depend on your own Reputation Power. You can see the power amount in your Settings.
Reputation Power is determined by several factors:
Members receive 1 point of reputation-altering power for every:
A. 180 days past his join date.
B. 500 posts.
C. 50 points of reputation (Ring Gauge).
Note:
*All new members begin with 10 reputation points and 1 reputation-altering power point.
*A member must have 50 posts before his reputation “hits” count on others.
*A member can give 10 reputation hits during a 24 hr. period.
*A member must spread reputation to 10 other members before giving it to the same member again.
Where can I see what Ring Gauge I have received?
You can view the reputation that you have received in your Settings as well as your User Profile- in a folder named Ring Gauge. Here you’ll find who gave you RG and your total RG points.
Your total reputation will also be under your username in your posts.
What do I do if I notice that someone gave me Ring Gauge points?
There aren’t any specific rules for responding to an RG "bump", but members often send a “thanks” by PM or on the member’s Visitor Message board.
If you like someone’s post, want to thank them for a post, or want to let someone know, using RG, that you appreciate the things they’re contributing to the forum, go ahead and take advantage of these features.

Otherwise, I would be happy to answer any of your questions."
