Greetings all, I'm new to cigars and the forum. I've finally figured out how to update my profile info so, that's done. I'm interested in learning what I can about this great new hobby and have a small collection started already.4480

Very new, most of what you see there was gifted to me by my boss. The Acid Route 10 is what remains of a five pack won on Beat the Dealer, The Nub's I bought from Cigar bid and the rest were gifts.
Bruck here I was hoping we could be friends. Go Green!

Uh, I'm just gonna go find a cash machine.

Welcome, Tom! Looks like you are off to a good start. By all means, please ask questions when they come to you. There are tons of awesome members here who love to help out! So far, what cigars have you liked?

Welcome to the forums, Tom! My wife hails from Jackson, right down the road from you. Nice part of the state, imo.

Tobias Lutz I actually grew up about 15 minutes south of Jackson and still drive through daily on my commute.
jhedrick83 My first "real" cigar was an Alec Bradley White Gold Churchill, the cigar itself was quite mild and pleasant in my opinion I just thought it was a bit to lengthy. I guess I would say that the Acid Route 10's were alright, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay for them and I won't be buying anymore. The Nub Cafe's are a bit too sweet in the mouth but they have actually been the easiest for me to pick out flavors from, but I'm new so hopefully that will come with time.

That's okay, I have a nephew who wants to go there. Last time I was in I told him my favorite MSU joke:
Why do State grads keep their diplomas on the dashboard?
So they can park in handicap spots :)

Welcome to the group. Mind the crazies. They are mostly harmless, but sometimes prone to blowing up mail recepticles.

Hey Tom, we are glad your here. Great bunch of bums here. What are you using to keep your Rh (relative humidity) steady?

Right now I'm using 69% Boveda packs. That seemed like the easiest way to get started.

Bovedas are a great choice. I use a few of the 62's in my humidor and am recharging some in a Tupperware container as we speak. They still need about a week until they are fully charged.

Those packs both give off and absorb humidity as needed to reach the rh% listed on them. You can recharge ones that have started getting a little stiff and dry by placing them in an airtight container with another humidity source, such as a small shotglass of distilled water for a few weeks.

Some people keep a set in containers like that, swap them out with ones that have gotten too dry, and repeat as needed to keep everything humidified nicely. If you are using tupperware type storage you might not run into that issue for a while. I have had the same packs in mine for 6 months to a year and none of them have needed to be recharged yet.

Thanks for the info. I bought a four pack from Amazon and am currently using two in my humidor. I vacuum sealed the other two, so maybe I can start a rotation as the two I'm using start to dry out. I can recharge them while using the other two.
