Hi all. I am pretty new into pipe smoking as it has been going on and off for the past few months on the typical small smoke shop tobaccos in my small town. After a little searching and deciding to jump into a few tin tobacco samplers i've read about, it looks like in for the long run. I've got a lot to learn and looks like I have found the right place!

As far as tins, I have tried Frog Morton, Orlik Dark Kentucky Strong, MM Independence Day 2015, and SPC Deception. Of the four it looks like I'm leaning more towards the Frog Morton and the MM, although I've only had two bowls of the other two. Just finished a Dark Kentucky and it's not bad, but at this moment I would put it in third out of the four.

Welcome, David. There's a lot of technique to pipe smoking, and I'm definitely on the learning curve myself, but one piece of advice that solves a lot of newbie issues is, smoke slowly.
Pipesandcigars.com has a great selection of pipe tobaccos and the prices are reasonable, particularly for the blends you can buy in bulk. Whenever I place an order with them, I like to get an ounce of one or two blends that I haven't tried.

Pipesandcigars.com is where I grabbed my first few tins of tobacco. I am actually working with AndyCAYP on a deal to send a few samples my way to introduce a few tobaccos to me. I have noticed that when I first started smoking I was on a more fast pace which I think is what made me go off and on for a few months.

Well if you are anything close to being a new pipe smoker, I strongly recommend the Newbie pipe tobacco trade activity offered here at Cigarbum. It is a great opportunity to sample lots of good tobaccos from experienced pipe smokers.
