I'm not sure, but the first thread may have just become too big to keep adding to. If that's the case, I like it! :stogie: So let's get cracking on "What did you smoke today II" if it turns out that the original thread is fine, a mod can always merge these posts later.

Yes it was a dark belicoso
Well that explains that. When I looked it up the size was close to the Robusto but it was a bigger ring and had the beli tip so I was a tad confused
It still was a good smoke.

Found this floating around the wineador inside a sandwich bag with a couple blocks of spanish cedar. Was gifted from OnePyroTec back in February and forgot I had it. better than I expected it to be, though I'm not against the odd infused cigar, Somewhat floral/fruity taste mixed with the spanish cedar. Actually pretty tasty stick. Thanks again.

Continuing the Oliva report...
Wrapper splits across the back of this cigar (just below the label) and near the cap. "My box", I thought, "my bad", but looking closely the veins didn't match, it was a seam. What next, using old Optimo bands for filler?

Two things to knock a cold out for me! A stiff hot toddy or a good workout where you work up a hard sweat! Even if it's just a hard cardio session! But then don't let yourself catch a chill.

2012 Padron Churchill.
Like a tasty beaujolais, served in a tin cup. Underfilled and construction is barely adequate, below the quality of the leaf and the reputation of the brand. I'm not fighting it yet but the poor flag may become a problem. La Gloria Series R is comparable in taste, smoother and less coarse (coarse isn't a bad thing) but the construction makes it a joy to smoke.

Southern Draw Firethorn...6.5x60 May have said this before, and if that's the case, it certainly deserves the resaying...the maker claims a Perfect Draw, every time...and delivers on that promise. Construction right there with the best, once lit,and lighting is easy as can be all you've to do is enjoy the fine cigar. This is the largest ring gauge of the Firethorn cigars, there are no soft spots nor the slightest hint of an uneven burn at any point. This was the last of the group George Bowman sent me.Time to hunt some more of them down. Thanks Geo.

Would venture to hazard a guess as to why, maybe, perhaps.
(Most certainly Sir Dog Rockets due to his immense responsibilities of overseeing the kingdom of GURKHA lit this "odd" cigar without first examining it properly)
Only needed to turn it over before lighting to determine the cigar's true gender.
Sadly, now too late for pix.

Love the graphics you come up with :)
2013 Obsidian Double Perfecto with Diet Pepsi and Mozart Piano COncerto #21, (Elvira Madigan).
Age has helped these become a good smoke. Filled well, if a little out of round, but it burns perfectly. Very nice in the mouth because the taper is gradual. In a nice way, it tastes like a Merlot poured over a leather belt that was on the ground overnight. Medium body, good smoke volume, smooth, consistent with a (bit) lighter snork that has a touch of spice. I either have a box of these, and if not, then I may have a single, wish I had more. Best Pinar product I've tried.

Brohiba tonight. This is from my latest batch, which had a lot of experiments in it, including this one which is a "Kentucky Puro," all contents of which coming from a grower in KY. Filler is Silver River, One Sucker (a dark air variety), and another leaf that the grower calls Dark Air, which is very similar to One Sucker, but packs a vitamin N wallop. Binder is One Sucker, ideal for the task as it has a good flavor and is strong and somewhat leathery. Wrapper is CT Broadleaf.
Flavor was pretty rough at first, with notes of hardwood and pizza box, but it has smoothed out nicely with just a little pepper. Still, I don't think I'll be including Silver River in my cigars henceforth. Burn is pretty straight and steady. Although it's a small robusto, I've been at it for about 45 minutes and it's still less than half gone. And the nic hit has me growing fangs and claws :)

First one I had was great. This one doesn't seem to want to stay lit, multiple wrapper patches and green spots. A little disappointed to be honest. Taste is pretty good but the construction on this one is frustrating. I guess that's part of the chance you take when the cigar is wrapped in tissue and then a paper sleeve, you can't really inspect it well pre-purchase.

Yes they do certainly improve in both flavor and burn when allowed to rest. 6 months or more seems best. However, between bombs, trades, mooches, and my own impatience, they rarely live that long.
I haven't rolled much lately, too many other demands on my time. Perhaps after the new year things will settle down.

Hello Pete,
Smoked, or tried to smoke a My father Cervantes Cedro Deluxe...5.6x44 Lit at about 5;50 pm today, little dry, papery, musty taste for the first couple of puffs, the went along pretty evenly until about the last two inches, gave up Oliva Habano Connecticut Shade with about an inch and three quarters left, couldn't keep it going, more smoldering than burning. The Griffin's Robusto. Last of the chicory coffee, mixed with New Mexico Pinon (Thanks Chico), about 50% of each coffee and it works, benefits from both. Colder this am than it's been in a week.
Not really sure how old, these old sticks are, but they're old. Been trying to fix their shortcomings with age but that's a fool's errand. Speaking of fools, shortcomings and errands, the years have evaporated my shortcomings and I do have urgent errands but I delay to write this post.
The Griffin's was like a pre-boom Graycliff, a hyped, over priced, private label offering. Taste is indistinguishable from cheap H. Kelner bundles that are, at least, honest in price, and you won't have to spend decades 'ageing' them to see if they get any better, cuz they don't.
Here is my full review of The Griffin's Robusto:
I think I still have one more left. Perhaps I'll take off the label and give it to someone as a blind test (yes I know the review is blank - just as it should be).

2013 CAO Black Churchill with Diet Pepsi, air cooled. Hope to see my granddaughter tomorrow. I'm going to take her to the dollar store and give her $2. She can buy two items, or I'll put $2 in her piggy bank for each dollar that she doesn't spend. Thus I hope to teach her that money doesn't grow on trees, at the Dollar Tree.

Know that the Griffins are rather well liked by some, but your take on them mirrors mine.
Those I smoked, a couple of years ago were the #500 found nothing memorable about them.
Maybe they're just a variety of mild whose flavour changes are too subtle for me to note.

2012 Pueblo Dominicano Toro. My son supplied the coffee this am. Kaiden, (granddaughter), is here through Christmas (yipee!).
Braved the cold this weekend with a friend who blind smoked a couple of sticks.
I gave him:
2012 Pueblo Dominicano Toro
2013 Pueblo Dominicano Torpedo
I smoked, with bands on:
201? Pueblo Dominicano kindly supplied by Bryan (@BryGuySC)
2009 Montecristo Media Noche Torpedo
My buddy mainly smokes Cubans. The two Pueblos I gave him smoke with differences. He liked both but preferred the 2013, that's bolder and creamier and he nailed it as a Nicaraguan but he didn't try to guess the brand. The 2012 reminded him of a Juan Lopez (Cuban) but the size was wrong and the construction not as good. He'd never smoked a Pueblo before but the snork, that he liked a lot, was so similar that he nearly put them together.
The Media Noche has a fine wrapper that gave me some problems but it gets a pass because of the cold and breeze. The Pueblos held up well against the elements.

Ok, I know you expect us to be guessing how far you'll have to walk before someone will buy you lunch.
Might be a fair distance since it's only the top hatted American bankers who smoke cigars.
Right, took a bit to puzzle it out.
You are expecting someone to pony up for the chow in hopes the Bank (yours) will loan him seed money.
Figuring that you"ll be at your stately bankers pace.....40 puffs = 19 feet...
you should be putting the feed bag on after twenty feet, that's my guess.

I've smoked many, many La Aroma De Cuba's and never once had an issue, I have to guess that it's a fluke...
However, I have found that they seem to be at their best when at about 63-64rh.
Yup that's my take as well, tho don't know what temp/humidity at the BM it was kept at before I got it.
I too kept my smokes right around 63-65rh, without problems.
Thanks for the reply.
Bob.

Decided to give this another go, Gispert casino III. Was disappointed with it again. Thinking I might try my hand at infusing the remaining 3. Maybe I can make something to enjoy out of them. Just to decide what to infuse with...

H R Toro #52 ... 6x52 Late Wednesday evening smoke this one from a sampler, has been hanging out in my humidor too long.
But that resting time has not hurt the cigar, if anything may've made it a wee bit better.
The HR cigars I've smoked are the best cigars in 2015, don't think that will change, given how little's left of the year.
