Buttery smooth and shockingly sweet. After an initial touch up, the burn line is perfect so far.

Rosada Gran Reserva. Can’t remember who sent this—if it looks familiar, thank you! Slowly becoming more of a Fuente fan as my palate starts to warm up to medium-body smokes. This is one of my faves so far. I especially like the soft box-press toro. Great vitola.

I was told long ago to overlook the non Cuban Cohibas. I went ahead and bought the small cigar sized Black Dots thinking a Maduro version might be ok. Not really, and not worth the slight upcharge over many other good ones. So I never bothered again until I got one in a sampler (10/$30 or so). This Red Dot is blah for the first 2/3 and terrible after that. How are they charging $13.60/ea??? I wouldn’t spend $3 knowing a Cargo is far superior at that price.

Second up, La Aurora Preferido Robusto Corojo (Gold).

Remember how shocked I was at the sweetness of the Connecticut? Well, it's got to be the fillers of this line of cigars. This Corojo has that same underlying sweetness, but with a little spice and nuttiness. The last third truley reminds me of a cuban cigar.

Again, excellent construction and burn up to the the last third when the corojo wrapped cracked a bit.

Continuing my journey through the La Aurora Pack from Light to Dark. It was close, but in direct sunlight the Cameroon was ruled lighter in shade than the Ecuador.

So, next up in the La Aurora series is the Cameroon (Platinum) Preferido Robusto. Went into this pretty excited because a couple of my favorite cigars have a Cameroon wrapper. That and with the sweetness the previous two displayed, I'm guessing it will be a good match.

Right off the bat, this cigar was very firm and had a tight cold draw. I gave it another cut, knowing how shallow I typically clip - didn't help. Ah well, it's not plugged, just a bit tight.

So disappointed to say it tasted like plastic. It had a shadow of the sweet notes mentioned previously, but really only on the palate after exhaling. I kept going hoping it would improve, but it never really did. As always, this could have been a one-off or even just me on this particular day. This Bum is bumming.

After yesterday's debacle, I'm a bit cautious going into this one. Snip the cap and the draw is good - ok, things are looking up!

This is definitely a different cigar being the first one with some spice to it of the line. Damnit thought if this thing doesnt have a bit of that off-taste "plasticy" note to it. I continued on, thinking it might be in my head from yesterday. Two thirds through and I'm done - just not enjoying it and life's too short for this.

A little rest might have helped that issue. Sometimes there’s still some ammonia left if it wasn’t completely fermented out. You might try dry boxing the rest for a couple days prior to smoking.

Brand rep at the B&M talked me into the Asylum 13. I believe I’ve had the ogre before and enjoyed it. The wrapper on this is a work of art. Taste wise, a bit one dimensional but still really tasty. Lots of pepper and chocolate. Tons of smoke output. Definitely need to see about getting a 5er of these considering the price point.

How are the Cigar City beers treating you? I've got a six pack of the Maduros chilling.So far I've "liked" all except the first one (Jai Alai). I can't say I'll be buying them again though, I just don't understand the overdoing hops with the current IPA trend. I prefer crisp IPA, but all I seem to get are bitter ones. The Guayabera has been my favorite. I'll have to look out for the maduro, I like me and amber ale.

Padilla Dominus. Having some burn issues, but it’s extremely tasty and a budget smoke so I’m not too bothered. This is the perfect midday smoke. Strong enough to let you know it’s there but won’t blow your palate out. Paired with some Thai iced coffee. So damn good.

Hey Brian, IMO no there’s nothing that would make this better at least for my tastes. There was no flavors in the profile that hinted to getting better with any amount of age. It was the first Rojas I’ve tried and definitely didn’t psych me to try any others lol.

With all new stogies I try I always check reviews afterwards to see if I agree with any of the descriptions from others who’ve tried the same smoke and with this one I followed the same protocol. The first and only review I saw was from my boy, The Katman! He’s been my go to for review ever since starting this hobby and I’m usually in agreement with him because our tastes are very similar. Not to mention he’s funny as hell and pulls no punches. He rated this a 70 outta 100. Using many of the same words I’ve written on my previous post describing his thoughts.

Ahh, this is what comes after May, looks the same but maybe once or if the Sun shows up June will be looking good.
That, above was my thinking While smoking a few hours before Sun up on Monday.
Guess I'll never learn, thinking only results in a headache.
Still, Monday was pretty much Ok.
The Cigar was not bad. Nice smooth box pressed toro 6.25x52. Very last one.

For now I just uninstalled and reinstalled Tapatalk and it seemed to have fixed it.

Since we've been together here OUR palate seem to be very similar and The Katman, IS the truth (IMO) the truth as far as reviewers go.

I'm not sure if I've had any Rojas blends. But your opinion is good for me. And for the hell of it I might try one. :)

Unfortunately, I do not have access to or information on the workings behind the scenes. Seems plausible. The least I can do is check with the IT admin and pass it on. If I get any additional information, I will let you know.
