Just warmed the far end of this Matilde Renacer Robusto...5.2x54. And smoke appeared, that's not a bad result, just may be getting the hang of this cigar stuff.
These really do produce a lot of smoke, so if you want your own fog here's one that will produce that result

Good cigar, not great. Nothing bad nor exceptional. Double maduro wrapper makes the qualities of each less distinct.

2016 Gurkha She Wolf Coronado with a little sake on a beautiful afternoon.
Supposedly one of the rarest Gurkha lines and priced accordingly, I only had three. First impression was superb but I've had good starts with this brand before that have panned and gone south, so I've been waiting for a fall-off but that hasn't come. 3/4 finished and this is easily the best cigar that I've smoked in a long, long time, perhaps ever. I will smoke another tonight and if it is as superb as this one then it will be the pinnacle of my smoking experience.
I want to write a review of this cigar but would like another opinion so I will give the last of these to someone who is willing to write a review as well. Just post in this thread if interested.

Having a nice PDR especial reserva limitada bla bla bla. I removed the band so I'm working from memory. Anyway, it's the one with the habano wrapper. Nice hardwood/leather notes, and enough smoke to declare war on the neighboring tribe. Pairing it with some cactus whiskey - Los Amantes Mezcal. Hittin the spot after a long week!

Spring has returned to central Texas and it's the kiddos 7th birthday party in a couple of hours (and 16 rug rats) so it's a haircut and a short stick. Earlier a member had one of these and felt it was ok but nothing special so I figured I'd try another. Haven't had many so I suppose it's a bit hard for me to rate, so I guess he'd be right. Not bad especially for the cost (these Daggers are 4.0 X 38) at $2.40 per shorty.

Interested to hear your feedback on these. I've had 2 exceptional 5-pks and one awful 5'er. Hope that yours was from the former.
2009 Fonseca 1907 Churchill Natural. With or without age, these range from fair to awful (depending on size and wrapper) and I still have 4 boxes (x50) of them to work through. This one is a middling-fair. Penance for poor decision but I also seem to have a natural aversion to Fonseca products after a few better smokes.

2014 La Gloria de Cubana Serie R #4 Maduro Robusto with coffee, light. Unseasonably cold but sunny.
Same weather here cold but bright Sunlight, last night however..power went out, rain wind, but not too bad, for an hour or two then extremely high winds for hours on end, roof repairs added to the never ending to do list. Smoking a Lancero and drinking more Coffee whilst trying to ignore this latest problem.
Sure glad this sort of thing doesn't send me looking for help in a bottle, rather than Coffee & Cigars.

Just lit a 601 Steel Spike ...7x50. Thus is one Churchillian Churchill Seven inches and 50 ring gauge, nice construction, fine looking wrapper, easy lightsharp burn line, just right draw, when attempting to pull smoke this far, draw can't be too hard. Liking this cigar the first of the 601 Steel line for me, received from my Secret Santa Defetis, many thanks indeed for your much appreciated generous gifts at Christmas.

2013 Graycliff Platinum Churchill with coffee light on a rainy, chilly morning.
This one is much better than the last few of the same that I've had before. It looks, burns and tastes better but the question is why the inconsistency? From the same 5-pk, why is one stick better constructed, burning and tasting than another to the degree that it's impossible not to notice?
Brands like Macanudo have retained their customer base because, whether you like them or not, they are consistently good (or bad). You know what you'll get. I've had some Hoyo lines that were pretty awful, and some that I like, but they're consistent within themselves and they carry a price nowhere near this Graycliff.
This 5-pk ranged from very good (this stick) to nearly bad and that's too inconsistent for me to purchase more.

Nah - no worries. I was working on them when I lit this up and thought it would make a nice background.
2 of them are for Cigars for Warriors and that other one is just some brotherly love or payback (some may refer to it as retaliation but that's just so negative)
Don't you worry - it's going a tad farther than your zip code

My neighbor had a co-worker who was traveling to Hispaniola, and asked him to pick me up some cigars when he was in the DR. Yesterday he brought over a variety of half a dozen sticks that his buddy purchased for me from a cigar bar with torcedors. I decided to burn them all in the next week or so, before they can fall into their "sick period". The torpedo I smoked this evening while playing outside with the kids was quite tasty. It's nice to have nice neighbors.

Hello Pete,
Right with you on the inconsistent problem with cigars, when a small selection, say three to five are all over the place, that ends my desire to buy a box if they were from the same box. Have a few times gotten fivers from online retailers with widely varying wrapper shades and ranging from ok to mushy in feel. Am used to buying boxes most of the time, and haven't noticed a lot of consistancy problems when doing so, but wouldn't expect to see the problem there anyway. Also that is surely one of the best things about the Montecristos, that quality of construction time and time again has those who like the brand coming back for more of the same.
Bob.

Cubao #1...6.5x49. Seldom provide extensive long term aging to cigars but this one smoked just as well as the first of this set even after nearly eight weeks of rest, no noticeable loss of strength or complexity/flavour. Have one more left and doubt I'll chance pushing this prolonged aging much longer before lighting it up.

Well Alan, after all ordinary folk like us can't expect to smoke the same cigars as the one percenters,
Nor expect to light up a Seneca full flavored or an ultra H.T.F. Good Days perfecto on a regular basis.
And you don't really have to keep to the concealment of the shrubbery when smoking one of the HR cigars
Even his Excellency Sir. dog Rockets is rumoured to have occasionally smoked lesser cigars than his, custom rolled by Gurkha Camels Breath panatellas.
By the way, I'm saving my coppers in hope of one day being able to afford either a A.Orange by Montsanto or perhaps even an HT one day.

Glad you like that one, would seem to just about fit into the preferred size range, that 48 ring gauge is pretty stout for the length.
Speaking of length...in terms of time, you more'n likely smoke slower than I do.
Guess I'll have to slow down in order to catch up.
Now, that doesn't sound quite right.

I had another today and I got the same experience as yesterday, nice and spicy to start, loads of cedar, creamy coffee, and sweet caramel in the middle, and then last third or so to me becomes earthy. Having another Brohiba this evening. The usual blend on the inside - Dark Air binder, mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan on the inside, and PA (natural, not shade) wrapper. It's pretty good, but only has 41 days' rest (I'm impatient). Needs a bit more time in the cedar house.

This afternoon I had a 6X52 Cubao #2 Torpedo cigar.:stogie: "Allusred", Bob had posted smoking Cubao in the past and his comments piqued my interest. You should note that I don't remember what he said but it captured my interest.:excitement: This cigar has been resting in my 65% rh humidor since the second week of February 2016; definitely not enough rest but I could not wait. After lighting this cigar I got a creamy pepper with a wisp of wood. At the 1/3 point the cigar went from med to med-full and changed to a coffee and chocolate flavor while still being very creamy. At the very end the pepper got stronger and ended with a flare.:chicken: The construction of this cigar was very good, with one single vein that presented no problems, excellent burn and great draw.:thumb: Dang-it, this is a very complex smoke; I had no idea what was coming next, but above all-the flavor was delicious. Bob smokes some weird cigars (no pun intended) as do I, and I love this one I will definitely buy more. I topped off this smoke with a large cup of hot coffee and this has been a "Cigar Event".:fly:

Thanks for the kind and delicate diplomacy when you changed the more expected.
"Weird Bob smokes some cigars." into" Bob smokes some weird cigars."
Like your comments on the Cubao, especially since you note and name elements that I may, but only may, notice. Tho I can't put names to those changes.
Let me say that I have always enjoyed your cigar posts. Details, such as time in the humidor. RH stored at, etc must be useful to many who are uncertain in regard to how long and at what RH cigars should be stored before being enjoyed.
The Cubao is I think, a nice cigar that doesn't get much recognition. Glad you liked it.
Best regards from a fellow Coffee plus Coffee drinker.
Bob.

Smoking a couple slabs of center-cut ribs :) Cherry, oak, and pistachio shells on a bed of Kingsford briquets. I use the 3-2-1 method, that's 3 hrs in the smoker, 2 hrs in the oven, and 1 hr on the grill. But I've found it best to do more like 2.5-1.5-20 min, otherwise the ribs get overcooked.
And I'm adding to the local smoke load with a Cain Habano toro. Hope the EPA doesn't show up :)

If I drink while smoking, it's almost always scotch or bourbon, but the dozen or so times I've had wine with a cigar have all been excellent. Good reminder that I need to try that more often.
Doesn't hurt that you're smoking my favorite cigar (at least, my favorite this year). Cheers!

First cigars in a week today. The combo of tax season and a cold held me down last week. Had a Quesada Oktoberfest and a Nub Dub while sipping on some wine slushies. DogRockets knows how to party!

Yeah it is a really nice pairing. I used to alway have bourbon with my cigar but am liking wine lately. Great way to spend a sunny afternoon.
I love having a good cigar with wine.
I really like that Root 1 as well. Great wine for the $$!
With my crazy few weeks of work and crazy weather here, no cigars for me...
Weather should be turning better this coming week, here come the cigars!!!

Bob.
Thanks Bob for your kind words.:) In reference to the detail info about my smoke; I started that several years ago out of "dire need". I like to buy some of my cigars from small farms and is processed in Florida. These are very limited quantities and I found that the same cigar varies from production year to another and I needed to identify what I was getting from the cigar. As an example say that I purchase cigar xyz in 2015 that I liked and a sample of xyz again in 2016. These cigars are never exactly the same from year to year. Lets say that I enjoyed 2015 xyz better than the 2016 xyz then I could contact the vendor and request any more of the 2015 xyz that I preferred.:thumb: By documenting my cigar I can make comparisons. Anyone who reads the forum knows that you truly love your cigars, some are good, some are not so good and others exceed your expectations. All I can honestly say is that I love to read your posts; thanks for being here!

Hiroshi Robiana is one helluva good blender, I think there will be great cigars coming from him once the embargo is gone, hey if he does this well with Nicaraguan leaf, once he's blending his Cuban and Nicaraguan we should be getting some really special cigars. I do indeed like the smokes coming from Don Pepin Garcia's My Fathers Cigars, but Robiana has my attention with those HR cigars.
Knew that one was "outside" your usual size range, but figured if you lit it, you'd like it.

Los Calaveras 2014 Ediccion Limitada LC754...7x54. Wrapper: A very enjoyable smoke thatEcuado Habano Oscuro wrapper is a winner my pick was to be a El Centrion H-2k which WNYTony sent me, but I noticed a crack at the foot of the Loc Calaveras, my guess is that as any any soldier is meant to it tried to escape from captivity. Despite the damage this cigar smoked without any problems and lasted for an hour and thirty four minutes, another fine cigar from Don Pepin Garcia.

El Centurion H-2K-CT Premium Blend...5.5x48. That is what I read from the two bands on this Box Pressed cigar from Don Pepin Garcia.
Once lit it burned effortlessly for an impressive two hours with no need for a touch-up let alone a relight.
Tho it has been some time since I last smoked an El Centurion this one lets you know that it is really a new blend, one that it's a pleasure to smoke.

The cigar was from you! I was in such a fluster when I picked it all out it slipped my mind!
My palm sander kicked the bucket in the middle of a project and I was faced with the challenge of buying a new one. Nothing like a cigar and beer to get the decision making gears rolling!
It was a solid stick for sure. I have not had the natural, so I'm not sure how the maduro and natural stack up...

Update:
Somehow Forgot to include the photo in the original post.
Now that it is here, looking at the distortion in the image which makes the foot of the H-2-K look broader than the head...a sort of pyramid shape.
I'm reminded of the way the Box Press did change while smoking, as the cigar warmed up the cigar "softened" somewhat the edges lost some of the sharpness and the cigar felt rounder. Something box pressed smokes tend to do unless they have very sharp sides and' or are loosely rolled,
neither of which was the case with this El Centron h2K connecticut.
Anyone else notice this when smoking box pressed cigars?

Sahlens in Virginia? I thought they were a Buffalo local brand. Good dogs.

Yes, they're actually extruded in Rochester, NY, but Mrs. Bruck, who's from Buffalo, grew up on them. Her family, who lives in Detroit area now, has to grab some whenever they're back in western NY, but we get them locally in NoVA from Wegman's, an upscale grocery store/deli.

Warped Flor Del Valle Las Brumas...4.5x48. Smoking break on front porch bit of peaceful time in the dark, close to a solid hour from this cigar, now tempted to repeat the process since there's not much light pollution on this non windy night, nice watching the stars at this quiet time.

Panacea Corojo 560 from Flatbed Cigar Co. This came in a 5er that were sold as seconds. Can't find a thing wrong with them. Smoke great and taste great.
