HOw was it?

I smoked one before the event and it was great. This particular stick tunneled a bit. First Protocol/La Zona stogie that I felt had sub par construction. I will have to smoke some more but I feel it was just a dud and the rest will be great.

This Torpedo was the only Maduro I've had but I've had the Sun Grown in Epicure, Churchill and Robusto and while none of them got an amazing out of me I'd do the Sun Grown over the Maduro. I thought they were pretty good and I'd smoke again but not search any out - other Perdomo that I'd rather smoke.


Pulled out this Flor de Ybor City which I read is a short filled Fuente. Not bad, no Eye of the Shark but closer to that than a Curly Head !

I was most excited by this glass tubo LFD. Got a lot of age to it and it’s honestly one of the most balanced and nuanced cigars I’ve ever smoked. Hate to say “cubanesque” but it’s just that. Pepper, sweet cedar, some cream and anise. God damn. Thanks, Santa.

They're not supposed to be strong (at least not the garibaldi), they're more of a sweet and lightly smoky all day cigar. There are other Toscanos that pack more of a punch, but also come with a ton more smoke which I'm not big on.

It most definitely is. I've got it contained to my one room so it's wife approved too.

Over the last 5 ~ 6 months have smoked, aside from some Cuban cigars only Alhambra & Tabacalera cigars. This Cohiba (Black?) a Toro I think, about 50 ring gauge. A slow burning cigar estimated about an hour and thirty minutes, expected a strong cigar but even after having smoked only mild/mild medium cigars recently would place this one at the medium level. Burned evenly, no need to touch up or relight. Can't recall having smoked one of these in the past and doubt I'll do so in the future. Yeah,it was Ok but that's about it. No pix, smoked in the car on a cold night.

Edit: Temp was about 20 degrees F. outside the car...cold & windy while walking on the boardwalk...perhaps that influenced / blunted my appreciation of the cigar.

Nope not wrong to say.... if you don't like it why waste time or money when there are better options out there. I have had1-2 nothing great I might smoke another but would never buy 1. If I did smoke another I am probably mowing the yard and it's a yardgar

Do tell how you’ve achieved such! In our old house the garage was attached and she’d get pissed because the smell would still come in.

We’re just renting here, but we’ve talked about a bar/game room/brewery kitchen and I’ve figured I’d do what I could to have it separated so I could smoke in there.

I put 2 ceiling vents in my office that run to an inline fan in the attic. It pulls air out of the room as I smoke, it's on the larger side, and it pulls (replenishes) from the gap under the door so no smoke leaks out. I run the fan while smoking and for about an hour after (timer switch), and also run an air ionizer for about an hour after I'm done to help clean the smoke smell out of the air and it also comes on a few times during the day on a timer. Works pretty well overall. There is some residual smell in the room on carpet and window curtains but it doesn't escape and the wife's ok with that.

Sunday's first smoke Mr. Brownstone Smack 6x52 Maduro. Little uneven burn line when first lit, self corrected. Larger than my usual choice ring gauge , but not a bad smoke, lots of smoke, good draw. Burn time right at an hour and a half.

The Brits swear by these and I’ve always been curious so I bought one for the outrageous price of $1.50 out of curiosity. It definitely doesn’t taste like your average machine made cigar. It’s a good maduro and I could see myself enjoying a couple with a hot coffee. I just love the packaging.

Undercrown’s Sungrown. I found it be to fantastically smooth, and it paired well with a stout:

We take the breasts, cut a pocket in them, stuff that with a cream cheese/jalepno mix, wrap it in bacon and grill it just under or right on medium rare. I am not sure how anything can taste bad with that combo, but if you overcook duck it's awful no matter what you do. On the grill it's not for anyone that likes their meat well don that's for sure, and probably why it gets a bad wrap.

Sounds pretty dadgum good to me! I’ve just heard it said water fowl has a muddy taste. But then I’ve heard people not liking venison and hog as it’s gamey, which I disagree with. There is a .gov website that is setup so that you can report the band, get the information on where it was banded, who banded it, and the date. They then send you a certificate of achievement actually as the bands are pretty rare and they appreciate you reporting it. I posted because it doesn't happen that often and when it does it's a pretty cool thing.

The one I had was the pygmy in that picture. I picked it up a local shop but they are online at most of the places that sell Roma Craft.

It also is some secret as the filler and the binder on every site I read is listed as unknown. The wrapper is Cameroon and it does have a bit of spicieness but it's not overpowering like a Pepin of sorts. It was really good with a great even burn.

The Brits swear by these and I’ve always been curious so I bought one for the outrageous price of $1.50 out of curiosity. It definitely doesn’t taste like your average machine made cigar. It’s a good maduro and I could see myself enjoying a couple with a hot coffee. I just love the packaging.

Yes, it is a federal program for sure. The entire duck season and all that goes along with it is a Federal deal, the states have to decide how to use/enforce it. So in other words the Federal level says you are allowed 60 total days of duck hunting in your state. The NY DEC then tries to figure out how to break up those days into seasons. While the state may do the banding it's all ultimately part of the federal program for the overall picture of all the flyways.

The geese are a real problem here as well, they destroy planted fields in a few days.

It was! You can actually buy them on the Privada website without a subscription. $11 isn’t too horrid of a price. Definitely worth it IMO.

I followed that up with this monster from AlanS. Easily the sweetest and most chocolate forward cigar I’ve smoked. Really intense and awesome. I’m surprised with the lack of strength, though I’m not complaining. Just expected more by the looks of the packaging and blend. A “wow” cigar for sure. Thank you and merry Christmas!

Last night I smoked another cigar I picked up while in Vegas and must say this thing was excellent and seemed to last forever! I paired well with my version of a British mild and my smoked grain/jalapeño BBQ beer. Well worth a stop in his shop if you are down Freemont St (he has another shop or two as well I believe):

Today, while smoking my first spiral cut ham, I’m trying out the Rose of Sharon. While it claims to pair well with a rosé (I don’t drink those or whites), I figured I’d see how it did with my Smokin’ Hot Blonde jalapeño beer:

My choice for COTY, La Promesa. This wasn’t even in the top 10 for CA, which is weird because they actually seem to favor My Father. Anyway, this is a superb smoke with tons of pepper, nuts and baking spice. And it performs flawlessly, like all My Father cigars. I’ve got my fantasy dues going out this weekend along with some other surprises. Happy New Year, bums.

Truthfully, I’m honored to smoke this cigar. A Fuente Anejo from (I think) 2012? Will need josh lucky 13 to confirm his chicken scratch ;)

Few NC cigars age well after 7 years, but this bad boy is phenomenal. It’s still got a lot of kick to it. Tons of dark roast coffee, anise and sweet black licorice. A true gem! Thanks brother!
