Sunday Morning. My fathers Vegas Cubanas Corona...5.5x44. Braved the dreaded Sunlight to smoke this Corona. While still scary bright, sunglasses did help a bit so able to enjoy the smoke. But won't come back until next time.

Followed up my Coyol in the Feb Lancero thread with this lil guy. I purchased both boxes in the same order about two years ago and successfully saved the majority of them for when I thought they’d hit their stride. I was right, as both of these are just unbelievable right now. Need to buy another box in order to rest them the same amount of time.

Always on the lookout for a cigar that pairs well with an IPA. All I’ve found that’s a good cigar is the Southern Draw Kudzu. Otherwise it’s a weak flavored mild cigar that I just wouldn’t care much for on its own. Going to have to take a look at this one. Thanks!

There’s definitely a strong citrus component to the Laranja. It’s not just a name, it really tastes a bit like orange peel! It goes great with citrusy, hoppy beer.

Today: LHC Oscuro. These are easily the best budget cigars out there right now. With about 4 months rest, it’s a boutique cigar experience akin to a La Imperiosa. Also, I love the cigar case cheaphumidors sent me. I use it all the time! I have a Divinia ready for later. Lots of college basketball to watch.

This one I smoked was ok and had at least 2yrs rest. But the one previous had a few days & I thought it was a better tasting cigar.

The Freya is a nice smoke. RG is a little large, but the few that I've had were well made and smoked well. I still have a couple that have been sitting around for a year or two.

Don't recall having smoked the La Galera but understand it too is a nice smoke.

I had a few of the Habano in lancero and they were really good. I think I had one of the maduros and it wasn't memorable. But it's definitely a well respected, budget-friendly brand. The 1936 and 80th Anniversary lines are supposed to be very good, but I haven't had either.

I haven't heard of the Freyja line until you mentioned them. They do look tasty, so I might have to see about procuring some.

Had a charming little Henry Clay on the way home from the keyboard jungle this p.m. Had a bit of a problem though. There was some snow still on top of Maybelline's (red F150) cab, left over from yesterday's storm, and it was melting. When I turned or curved right, or went downhill, water would pour in on my arm and at one point nearly doused Henry. First world problems :)

Was excited to find a new bar with a heated patio. I now have three places to smoke and have a drink in the winter. Christening it with this La Antiguedad. Forgot how spectacular these are. About 6 months on this. So much pepper, but still a bit sweet. Clove. Black licorice. Nice!

Sun Grown Brazilian Maduro wrapper, good solid construction, needed no relights and only one slight touch-up start to finish.

Tried my first Joya De Nicaragua Dark Corojo on Sunday. This one is rott, and I have it on good authority that they are very good with some rest.
That said, I liked it, and can see that some age will improve it even more. Nice solid medium body stick.

I just can't get them to burn right. Regardless of rest time or rh, after the first third the tunneling starts and the flavor turns to crap. Doesn't happen that regularly with any other brand. I've given up on them pretty much but I still have a few in my stash that I need to (attemp to) smoke.

*Yanked it out of my desk humidor on the way out of the Augean Stables and started it on the way home; just finished it. It had no band so all I know for sure is, it was a cigar :) What I'm pretty sure of is, it was from a batch of seconds that a co-worker and I probably split some time ago. At any rate it was easily as good as the other cheapies I so love.

But I was given the Metropolitans again! Damn it! But since I talked with someone at Nat Sherman and they said these were indeed the exact same cigar (don’t understand why they’d change the name) I decided to try another one. Seemed about the same. I guess the first one I tried was somehow a dud as it had no Maduro character for the first half. I decided to see how well it went with a porter:

That guy is Glynn Loop of CRA. Do t know anything about the cigar. Would guess it was a CRA recruitment cigar.

A very malt forward IPA with a muted hop presence so I found a milder smelling cigar, which happened to work nicely with it. And this smoke seemed to just last forever!

Tried this Macanudo Inspirado Red that was sent as a sample to me recently. Didn't have any age on it, but was a medium mild bodied stick with some notes of spice, cedar, and a hint of nuts. Not great but not bad, maybe some rest would have helped.

Warm enough to smoke outside, but windy enough to force me into my shitty garage. At least this M13 is spectacular. My first Ohana. Probably the best foot smoke I’ve ever smelled. I’m getting a significant amount of rosemary/pine from this cigar. A first for me.

Plumes of smoke, lots of citrus, sweet cedar and pepper. Reminds me of a Laranja but somehow better. Watching this Dookies/UNC game. Go Tarheels.

Wife and I went to St. Louis last year to see the Rangers play the Blues. We stayed at the Missouri Athletic Club. While I was checking in I noticed they had a large Humidor in the lobby. Made a comment to my wife “to bad there’s nowhere to have a cigar since the temp was in the twenties”. The very nice lady checking us in overheard my comment and said it was my lucky day. Since this was a private club I could actually smoke at the bar. Great trip.

Those Vs age well. My local shop that’s attached to a liquor store and is pretty sleepy has had the same box of the lancero sitting around ever since I first went there around 4 years ago. I’m the only one who buys them. They’re still amazing.
