Managed to burn an Oliva Special G today at lunch time

Thursday Afternoon. San Cristobal Revelation Mystic...5.6x48. Despite an extensive amount of aging this cigar smoked well, easy light, no need to relight or touch up, burn line slightly wavy a few times but self correcting. Even after all the added aging that Spice/pepper was right there once lit.Did expect this cigar to burn longer than it did. Like the Sumatra wrapper. No pix yet got the five pack at 11.50 AM, lit this one at 2:51 Pm.

I know. I gave Willy a speech about it, but he said the numbers show people don't like them. Admittedly the lonsdale do have some burn issues, but the biggest reason is usually over humidification of the wrapper. If you dry box them for a day they burn just fine, but we'll see what they come up with. At least the Toro won't get much of a change from what he told me.

These were dry ROTT, so I put them in a humidor for the last few weeks and now the wrappers are starting to split, etc. Don't know the solution; they are good cigars to smoke and worth the hassle. Maybe Villiger needs to change the way they handle these cigars so that they arrive not so dry.

Villiger's such as their Expot lines are "dry' so it's likely, I think that the Villiger Selecto is intended to be smoked sans humidification.

Workin on Maybelline's (Red '11 F150) front brakes today. Worked on them last week too but have in the meantime learned the full ramifications of putting new pads on badly worn rotors :) I should've done the rotors too, but was expedient (lazy). After spending a week listening to it make terrible grinding noises, I'm now doing the whole job: pads (again), rotors, and caliper guide pins.

The passenger side went just fine, but on the driver's side, I'm having trouble getting the old rotor off. I guess it realizes that once it separates from the hub, it will be quite a while before it gets reincarnated into something useful again, and probably will never be anthing nearly as interesting as truck brakes. So naturally it's putting up a fight.

What does this have to do with what I smoked today? Well, I put some liquid wrench on it and whille it's working its magic, I'm having a Pepin Cuban Classic, one of my favorite sticks this side of commie island :)

Smoked a 2 or 3 year old Gran Habano, Vintage 2002 last evening. Everyone knows what these (and every other cigar I smoke) look like so IMO posting pics is a waste of bandwidth.

A Missouri Meerscham, Missouri Pride pipe is a whopping 4 bucks.
Not all pipe tobacco is flavored. IMO 99% of the flavored stuff sucks (although the remaining 1% is really nice)
An ounce of G&H Sweet Rum Twist is about 4 1/2 bucks. That's 10 to 20 smokes: a nice strong, cigary smoke :) Hard to find in stock tho :(
A nice one you CAN find in stock is Dunhill Nightcap. A tin is about 10 bucks. That's about 20 smokes worth...
So you see, I don't see how you can afford NOT to pick up a pipe... :poke:

My cigar last night was a cigar from "The Cigar Factory" in New Orleans. It was okay but it had some off-tones and a bit of a rough edge to it. A friend of mine knew I like cigars and brought back a sampler of three of their cigars.

It was alright, nothing spectacular. The draw was a bit loose and it didn't produce a whole lot of smoke. I got a 5er so I am going to rest the remainder and see if that helps

That’s the sweet spot! Just bought a box of the torpedo, which is a great vitola of that smoke. It will nap for at least 8 months.

As for me this evening, an act I rarely do: buy and smoke the same day. This La Gran Oferta at $8.75 (!!!) was way too good of a deal for me to overlook and way too tasty looking to not light it up immediately. It’s heavenly. It tastes like a Le Bijou made with a habano wrapper. Damn.

Couldn’t agree more. A couple years rest on those and for me they’ll compete with any Small Batched cigar on the market! Just an exceptionally good cigar given enough time to marinate

You won’t be disappointed! This one got a little bitter towards the end, but that’s likely because I smoked it right off the shelf. Im going to see if I can snag a 5er and rest them. Pepin and his son are undoubtedly my favorite blenders.

I rolled some cigars over the weekend - pic in "Pix of your stix" thread. Yesterday was rolling day; today was wrapping day. Yesteday, I thought I'd try smoking one of the freshly-rolled, unwrapped, still slightly damp sticks. Wasn't very good. But curiousity needs to be satisfied!

My all time favourite Sun Grown from Don Pepin Garcia, and sadly the last but one from the forty I have managed to stretch out for more than a year. Well aged when I got them and still smoking just fine, but nothing lasts forever.Now all I have to hand are a single Havana and the very last one of the Seleccion Del Sol Fireplugs.

I put these down almost two years ago in a jar humidor with boveda and a cedar plank. Was going through my humidor burping routine and figured "why not?"

Color me surprised- I'm early into as I post this but it has a hint of that allspice/clove thing going on and I'm really enjoying it.
