This afternoon I had a 51/2X52 Padron 3000 Natural cigar.:stogie: This cigar has been resting in my 65% rh humidor since June 15. 2010. This cigar had a dark oily wrapper with a musty pre-light aroma. After lighting this cigar I got pepper, spice, creamy coffee and that musty aged earth tobacco flavor that I absolutely crave. The construction of this cigar was excellent with no problem veins, razor sharp burn and open draw. In the past I have had problems with cutting the single cap so now I do it very carefully. In these years I have progressed into a person who absolutely love aged musty tobacco while being on a retirement income so these Padrons are a special delight to me. It does not matter what other cigars that I smoke I always come back to Padron for my refill of "aged tobacco". This is why last month I bought 2 additional boxes of these Padron 3000s. I topped off this smoke with a large cup of hot coffee and I had a wonderful afternoon.:leprechaun:

My guess after seeing the feet was that someboy crossed a Chihuahua with a Rottweiler. A ChiRottie

I have a suspicion there is some Chihuahua in there also, as well as the Aislinge Bray. Many I have seen have the feet like Jack does, only a DNA test will let us know for sure though.

Tonight I decided to go with one WNYTONY turned me onto, which I must thank you for again Tony, great sticks.

Friday Afternoon. My Father Le Bijou 1922 Grand Robusto...5.6x55. Took advantage of this Tropic Summer weather Temperature 55 F. Humidity 26 to smoke this Don Pepin Garcia cigar. Easy light, sharp burnline, smooth retrohale very flavouful. Wrapper Habano Oscuro from Garcia always nice.
Another fine cigar courtesy of my Secret Santa...thanks much Brian for this thoroughly enjoyed smoke.

Burn time. One Hour and Forty Minutes.

Yeah, I'd say the Sublime is slightly larger than the Coronas I sent you LOL. Kinda like the size that dog is going to get will be slightly larger than the size he is now !!!

I love the Corona size you sent, those Sublimes came in a 10px Monster sampler. I was hopeful that the size wouldn't impact the flavor profile much, and was quickly relieved to find out it really didn't that much, IMHO

Today was my first ever AB and it was good, despite a nasty split in the wrapper (which I'm ashamedly hiding from view), and which prompted me to stop messin' around and put the other few dozen smokes I had left in their cardboard delivery box (for about 2 yrs.) and get them into my four now pretty well stuffed humidors. Crisis averted. I hope! :hammerhead: https://www.flickr.com/gp/142023879@N07/8358p0

I don't find these to be harsh in terms of pepper, it's there but in the background in a supporting role.

I wouldn't get mad at all for a question like that my friend, but the answer is Dead only. I have nothing against Phish or their fans (as long as they are cordial) I just couldn't get into their stuff.

I know it was Tatuesday, but I couldn't resist the urge to try one of these finally.
it had a very distinct flavor profile and aroma which reminded me a lot of H&H Blackhouse pipe tobacco. Certainly a change of pace and a stick I would like to try again with some solid rest on it. Might have to grab a few more and bury them deep in the humi for a couple years.

Tuesday. Ligero By Morning, unbanded Boutique from Cigar Foundation....5.75x50. A Toro by size, my guess .
Courtesy of my Secret Santa Brian. Fired up at: 4:46 Pm on this hectic day, nice easy light, a "lighter" milder smoke than I expected.
Can't guess the wrapper or binder, fillers but quality leaf, a well constructed cigar a first class smoke.
Nice, very nice long smoke. Thanks Brian.

Burn time: One hour and Thirty Seven Minutes.

A Cigar Federation blend. With you saying it's milder than you expected is surprising because it "looks" med to med-full by how dark that wrapper is.

Been wondering the same thing. I've been on the lookout for a decent candela to try. All I usually see is garbage like 'Angry Elf' and I'm not down with $1 junkyard gars. I may not be able to tell the difference between a $7 cigar and a $30 cigar, but I sure as heck can tell the difference between $1 and a $5 cigar.

Super Moon Morning. San Cristobal Del Sol Fireplug...4.5x50. Haven't smoked one of these for several weeks, trying to space out the few left.
Would really be very hard put to think of any other cigar that smoked as well as this one. It may be the extended age, sure a darn good cigar.
Had forgotten about the Super Moon, Blue Moon Blood Moon, so only saw it at six AM today, 31 Jan.
Low in the sky but looking really large, very bright, sorry I missed most of the show.
Still, glad to have caught at least the end of the show before heading to sleep.

Burn time. One Hour and Twenty Eight Minutes.

Wednesday Afternoon Smoke. Vegas Cubanas Corona...5.5x44 . One of my all time favourites from Don Pepin Garcia. But...
the San Cristobal Del Sol Fireplug I'd smoked about nine hours earlier, before getting some shut eye time,
was so much richer/deeper flavoured there's no comparisum.
Both very good, but poles apart.
Burn time: An Hour and Fifteen Minutes.

Ha! The wrapper wasn’t only huge it was thick like wallpaper and peeled off about the same. Very subtle cigar I’d say med/full. Unlike any AJ collaboration I’ve tried. Creamy milk chocolate and some fruitiness, which like i said is so abnormal to me with an AJ cigar. The retro is extremely smooth with a very pleasant texture to the smoke.

Monday's Cigar. Vegas Cubanas Corona...5.5x44 . Would have called this an afternoon smoke (my time) but since it was rather dark out, have to say Nighttime Pepin.
Nice cigar, would have liked to have had some Knob Creek, good stuff that, but need to leave some in the bottle for the next snow time.

Burn time. One Hour and Eighteen Minutes.

Tuesday Evening. Cao Fuma En Corda...6x58. One BIG cigar. Cut easy light. Really nice retrohale start to nub. For me a Medium/Full. Clouds of smoke.Sharp burn line no need for a relight or touch up. Just right draw, ash holds for over an inch and a half. Some pepper, like that. Quite flavourful fine smoke courtesy of my Secret Santa. Thanks much Brian. Forgot to mention this was a long even burning cigar for sure. And since Brian sent me a pair the plan is to wait for a nice warm day, if Spring does come along.
Burn time. Two Hours and Forty Nine Minutes.

Thursday Afternoon cigar.. Vegas Cubanas Corona...5.5x44 . About time, a day without rain, if I'm not mistaken it rained a lot this week. Both Mondays, both Tuesdays and both Wednesdays. Bloody rain sure makes for a long week. Dry indoor messes with my sinuses and that affects the retrohaling. Thinking about enjoying another of these Vegas Cubanas on the front porch while listening to the night. Only a few left from last box, so expect the third smoke will be something other than one more of these Pepins.

Well, since it's the 60th birthday of brother droy1958 today I tried to find a cigar that would be worthy of such an occasion.
Although I didn't have any 60 year old cigars - I did pull one that is 20 years old that was sent to me by Regiampiero my Secret Santa
I figure 20 yeas old in cigar years has to be close to 60 years old in David years, so I lit this up

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180210/34e600ef2e521e27c90f8593225026eb.jpg

JDN Clasico churchill. Let me tell you - even after 20 years the construction and burn are spot on and this stick is sooooo smoooth. If I ever wondered how sticks will hold up after time I now have that answer. A testament to proper storage and care - no doubt. Thanks so much Reg - this was an excellent smoke and the perfect one to light up for old David's birthday !

Friday 09 February. Oliva box Pressed 2006 M B 3...5x50. Started on front porch after a few minutes of the cold moved indoors. Because of the Box Press this cigar appears a lot wider, maybe 52 or 53 Ring Gauge. Easy light, draw a tiny bit tight to start but after a couple of minutes the cigar warms up and the draw opens up. Flavour changes seem to me to flow along, and I don't sense any quick spikes, that's ok. This cigar courtesy of Ciro's response to a MAW. Perhaps the Box Pressed made it somewhat more of an Apples & Oranges choice, but I cant ratethe M B 3 ahead of the Oliva V or Melanos. Nice smoke for sure. Thanks Ciro.

late, late Saturday Night. M. O. W. Ruination Belicoso...5.7x56. Got busy lost track of time for this one. From Ciro. Large, good cigar. Would estimate smoking time at an Hour and Twenty Minutes to an Hour and Thirty Five Minutes. Had to relight twice because I'd put the cigar down twice
Don't often "rest" a cigar in an ash tray once lit, seldom need to touch up or relight for that reason.
Thanks once again Ciro for a fine selection of fine smokes in that MAW.

Not from here but one of those cigar blogs. I don't want to publicly throw him under the bus, it is all subjective after all, plus anyway, I never taste the notes anyone describes but I'll pm it to you. Edit: Just read 3 more reviews, and all which were more restrained and in line with my experience plus also fitting of an Avo, imho. I even at least detected one writer's mention of "burnt toast". lol. I also have a DC Maximus and Julius Caesar to try and so shall see where they land. Further edit: The original review showed a label-less cigar so I got confused (and am now embarrassed) as it was for a different line, the DC Black Diamond. Case closed. Sorry guys and gals. Now gotta find one of those. Could it still be just as good? We'll see.

Hi y'all, I've been out of pocket for a couple weeks & haven't had a chance to check in. Was in Cancun on vacay last week and in FL on business the week before that. Back home now and enjoying a lovely Undercrown in my last couple hours of freedom before heading back to the old grind.

You may ask, Bruck, while in Mexico, did you procure any, oops, wrong subforum for that, but the answer is no, they were all counterfeit. In fact, I didn't smoke many cigars in Mexico at all, as the wind blew incessantly off the Caribbean, which made for less than optimal herfing conditions.

We'll see.

I understand. There are few, actually one, reviewers that I listen to. Most seem to be in the manufacturers (if professional) pockets as opposed to giving a honest review of the stick (IMO). I've not had the Diamond Crown or Black Diamond (looking forward to trying one), but have had the other two! The Maximus is a nice maduro and the Julius Ceaser is a VERY nice cigar. Hope you enjoy them when you get around to smoking them.

I'd not complain if these Sun Grown sweeties were the only cigars available,
least ways not as long I had them to smoke as often as desired. Like these Pepins I do.

Started off with this cigarillo I rolled but found it was rolled way too tight and so the draw wasn’t there. Looked good for a hand roll but then looks aren’t everything they say...

So I grabbed something else I rolled some time back. Smokin’ just fine.

Thank you everyone for the concern regarding Jack, we took him to the Vet Monday morning. He had started having heavy/fast breathing (more so then usual for a puppy his age & size) Sunday night. By Monday morning he "seemed" much better so we were thinking it was possibly an allergic reaction to something. The Vet checked him out, no fever, no wet sound breathing, nice pink gums, etc... But we showed him a video of the breathing episode Sunday night. He said he really didn't think it was much to worry about, but if we wanted to make 100% sure he would do some x-rays. We didn't even think twice and asked him to please rule out anything major. So long story short, our little Jack has a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and part of his intestine has pushed up into his chest on the right side compressing his lung. We are going to see a Surgeon next Tuesday, and find out what we need to do. We are trying to keep him as relaxed as possible to keep him from getting out of breath, as well as doing a LOT of praying. My wife and I are pretty devastated as I am sure you all can understand. Not having children, this is like a child to us ( I know those of you who love them as we do understand what I mean) So any prayers would be appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear that! Good job pressing for those Xrays, sometimes you just have to go with your gut instinct. I am keeping my fingers crossed for poor little Jack. Hopefully surgery can be done laparoscopically with minimal down time, I know how hard it is to keep a pup on "bed rest."
