He plays Outside Linebacker. No cheerleaders (at least that I know of) He has been dating the same girl for a little over a year now she plays volleyball and softball.
So what are his stats ? Sacks, picks, pick/6's, fumbles returned for TD ? He's in a havoc position so I hope he's raising hell !

He's usually in pass coverage so no sacks, but 1 pick so far and a few deflected passes. Double digit tackles in most of the games with 3 or 4 for a loss. I'm working on his highlight reel for the year I'll post it when I get done.

Romeo Y Juliet 1875 Bully with Diet Dr. Brown's Black Cherry.
Been a day.
Water main leaked causing a pond on the side of my house (2"-4" deep, 30'x5') that kept my sump pumping day and night (gallon every 2 minutes).
Last Friday my son-in-law's dad diverted the water (pond now gone). The Water Company was here 10 minutes after being called and set a work order for today with the understanding that if the leak was more than 25' from the middle (single lane) of the road then the cost was mine to bear.
They had a team of 6 that worked from 8am until 3pm. Could have buried a dozen bodies in the 2 large holes they dug. They repaired the main and put in something to help divert if another leak were to develop and then were most gracious in their calculation from the street!
Water quality has always been excellent, I pay only $45/Qtr (with sprinklers) and now the service is top notch. Shout out to Huntington Water! Yaay!

La Gloria Cubana Wavell ROTT.... Good.....
I lived on these (and other La Gloria) for a couple of very satisfying years. Holts had the Miami manufacture for a while after production moved to the DR, and the Wavells were $25/25. Bought 37 boxes (about 10 Wavell) just before the boom.

nothing that I smoked today but a warning. do not ask Tony (WNYTONY) if a smoke is a good one. I asked how the divine inspiration from Fuente was and he posts that he will send a couple. Well, he lied. I get a package today with 3 Fuente Casa Cuba divine inspiration and 1 Vegas Cubanas and 1 Las Calaveras. Thursday Morning cigar. Vegas Cubanas Corona...5.5x44. Smoked on front porch on this cool,64 F,Morn, this is very easy Morning, or anytime smoke from Don Pepin Garcia. Makes a nice half of a duo when joined later by a Romeo Julieta Millie Fleurs, as I intend for an Evening smoke.

Hi David,
Yes. Holts actually had separate listings for Miami and DR sticks and at the same price but I bought the 37 boxes from a local tobacconist, all Miami made. It was his entire La Gloria order that he'd just received. I bought Miami made from Holt's after I'd smoked through the 37 boxes (~9 months) for the better part of a year until they were no longer offered.
This falls under the wealth of riches is wasted on a numbskull. I still like La Gloria very much but preferred the Miami and I smoked them without a thought for posterity. The Boom hit and La Gloria prices went up faster than a lizards body temperature in the desert sun.

Natural. I had negative dealings/feelings with Danby-Palicio (when Dan Blumenthal ran the company) because they were so deeply in bed with Lew Rothman but I started smoking them after I left the business and I like both Hoyo and Punch. Tastes like this Pita is a new blend from some I had perhaps a year ago, bolder and bigger flavour. Certainly the blend has changed over time as (from their literature) they had no Nicaraguan leaf in the day. Positive change.

Yessir, I jumped in around 1995-97 and they all pretty much seemed higher than giraffe lovin'. I did go through some crap cigars back then, as everybody and their brother were rolling cigars. Just get them on the shelf and somebody will buy them! I'm just happy that it seems that most care about quality over quantity these days....

I was a retailer and he was selling for less than I could buy. Speaking to Danby (Blumenthal) was like an audience with the Pope and he was dismissive so we stopped selling their cigars except to regular customers. Always amazed me when their missionaries would act and say that Rothman was paying the same price as I was. The business completely changed with the Boom and the Internet. I don't hold grudges :).

It was a time of change for almost everybody in every line of business. Then when we got things together, along came Y2K. We didn't know if we would be affected, so we tried to cover our azz in every way possible. I was helping my mom and brother with their gift marketing business in the World Trade Center in Dallas. We just put in a new fancy bar code scanning system and was praying it would hold up. It did. A lot of people got rich off the Y2K scare, that's for sure!....

Hi David,
After I left Marble Arch (1992) I worked as a database consultant for Estee Lauder before/after Y2K. An IT manager who didn't know (or learn) the Canadian payroll system let the guy who developed it go despite my strong objections. Estee gave him a 2 year severance (very nice package, full salary and benefits but this was before they'd gone public). The company emerged unscathed except for Canadian payroll that went haywire and was couldn't be used. :)
Estee rehired him as a consultant at double what he had been paid (no benefits) so he was making 3x because of their mistake. He lasted far longer than that manager.
I think more people were able to get work than got rich other than some software companies that wrote applications intended to read custom software (like the Canadian payroll) to find Y2K vulnerabilities but the 3 packages that I encountered were useless. I wrote a utility in 2 days that highlighted most of our potentially vulnerable areas and we addressed them but I can't say that it actually helped.
Y2K was basically much ado about nothing (except for those Canadians who had to be mailed checks from the NYC office of Estee) :) :) Glad that you had no issues.

The three Rum & cokes, think it was only three,a few hours earlier followed by some sleep combined helped, it seems, to let me really enjoy time spend with the lovely and lively Matilde.

Late Saturday Morning cigar. Lonsdale ? a 6x 44 or 45? Very softly box pressed. No soft spots nor hard spots. No gnarly veins, but almost a sandpaper wrapper. Burn line just a bit wavy, whitish gray ash, bit flaky. Plenty of smoke, some spice or pepper on retro. Not sure it was a Losndale, after al, might 've been a corona. That may've been a Sumatra wrapper. No cello, no band.
Burn time: An hour and Seven Minutes.
Sorry no pix...this one is/was a mystery as far as brand/maker.

Sunday Afternoon. San Cristobal Seleccion Del Sol Fireplug...4.5x50. This excellent cigar from Don Pepin Garcia is a nice 'match up' with a Cuban RASS, much as the Vegas Cubanas, also from Don Pepin Garcia, works well with the Cuban Romeo y Julieta Millie Fleurs.
Smoked this Fireplug while reading Haruki Murakami's "After Dark"
.Having only yesterday read "Faithless" by Kjell Ola Dahl and that read once I'd read Deon Meyer's novel " Fever."
So, in short order it's been South African, Norwegian and now Japanese authors, pretty neat the way these three can be enjoyed one right after the other.
Much like some good cigars.

Together with some freshly ground Starbucks Breakfast Blend and some '76 Dead at the Cap. Theatre made for an enjoyable after dinner treat.

We've had maybe 35-40 kids mostly in groups. Doesn't compare to when we were kids. We'd fill up a couple of pillow sacks back when. When we had three or four people tell us it was getting a bit late, it was off to one of our houses and then then the fun part started, as we'd all get together and do the candy trades among us. This afternoon I had a 51/2X52 La Aroma De Cuba Belicoso cigar.:stogie: This cigar has been resting in my 65% rh humidor since August 2012. After lighting this cigar I got cocoa, spice and a delicious creamy nuttiness. When I first tried this cigar in 2012 I thought that it was good, but I had another one in June of this year and again this afternoon and I have a new appreciation of this stick:banana:. The construction of this cigar was excellent with no problem veins, razor sharp burn and excellent draw. I sipped on this cigar and enjoyed the wispy smoke with all of its delightful flavors. I have been steadily depleting my humidors to make room for my expected cigar purchases before the end of the year and this is one cigar that I will buy again. I topped off this smoke with a large cup of hot coffee and I had a wonderful afternoon.:santa:

Hope everyone had a good Monday!
Big Nor'easter dumped 5" of rain and knocked out electric on Sunday night (~90 homes in my area). Of course my grandaughter was here through Halloween :) so Monday was without power and ~60 degrees indoors.
We were BS'd and given the run-around by PSEG (power company) until I asked my attorney friend to give them a call after they (again) changed their estimated time to restore service to 11pm Tuesday and that would have left my neighborhood dark for Halloween and without power for 2 days on a relatively minor outage.
Don't know what my friend said but suddenly they found the complaints from our neighborhood that they'd previously denied were made and 4 hours later the juice was flowing. My friend was told (off the record) that no extra crews or overtime was used on this outage. This company took over after LIPA took 15 days (14 for us) to restore power after Superstorm Sandy 5 years ago (almost to the day).
Previously wrote how GOOD my water company is. Storm caused their repair in the street to crater that could have broken an axle if a car hit it so I called them. 20 seconds after I hung up a tractor loaded with sand drove up with another truck and they repaired the hole. Huntington Water anticipated, checked and repaired. More Kudos and I wish they did power too! :)
I sat outside during part of the storm trying to get the Rocky Patels Broadleaf to act like cigars but they didn't. High moisture doesn't do well with strong cigars so I smoked some Macs and 5-Vegas Gold that did fine.
Currently a 5-Vegas Archetype (toro) with coffee light. My granddaughter had a blast for Halloween :).

Hello David,
Yup the times have certainly changed. Recent Halloweens I've seen parents often outnumbering the kids, hovering over them with the cell phones, etc. Groups of kids when on their own often were of older, bigger kids, high school and oder.
This year, nary a child during the afternoon, the few that did come trick or treating were not around until about Eight Twenty, and the last, really small boy, all on his own, no one else within two blocks distance, showed up at Nine Thirty. and that was it Seven kids in all.
Dang, kids are missing the magic that was Halloween past.

Hi Bob,
I grew up in a housing project where shopping bags with handles were prized so that you could carry the 3-4 that you filled up. Not so today. Yesterday my neighbors kids came at 4:30 and not a single kid after that. Neighborhood my be aging but is seems that there's more interest in partying by young adults rather than Trick-or-Treating.
Unusual that any kid was by himself so late these days. Wish it sounded responsible these days.

Good Morning, Pete.
Found myself thinking about that last youngster today, and realize just how odd his showing up alone so late at night was.
He couldn't have been more than about five, six years old, relaxed as if it was the middle of the day, tho it was about three quarters of an hour since any one else had been around,I wasn't expecting any more Trick or treaters. He was holding, with both hands one of those decorated "gift" bags in front of his chest. When I asked him if he liked Chocolate, he said yes and a couple of handfuls of the candy bars nearly filled that bag, asked he wanted some M&M's, again a yes and the addition of those small packages did fill that bag. He said a thank you and off he went. Later last night and even more so today I've realized how odd so young a kid out alone that late at night was.
Cheers.

Hi Bob,
At that age it would have been unusual even back in the day when kids routinely went out alone or better in groups. Parents accompanying their kids is a good policy and even those inclined to let them go in a group now have peer pressure to tag along. Parents going with the kids is sheltering and affirming while them not being there might be good for their self-confidence but even 10-12 yo kids should go in a group.
Kids will, if asked, want as much candy as they can get and I hope that this was an intrepid kid who slipped out to make his rounds rather than a kid whose parents were asleep at the wheel or worse, who just didn't care or worse still, was hungry. Glad you filled his bag that I suspect brightened his day. Not an older sibling or friend with him, your tale shook me a bit and I'll think of this child and wish him good fortunes with a some sadness.
Pete

What did you think of it Pete?
Sancho Panza Triple Anejo Gordo. Smoking another with Spring Water.
Hi Brian,
Smoked some ROTT but a little better with a couple of months in the humidifier. They're less than the sum of their parts; good nose (before light), construction and draw with decent flavours but they're not well defined, only modest amount of smoke, a bit medicinal and rough retro. They don't get to the finish line like the Punch Pita that is a close comparison in weight and flavours but the latter's a superior stick.

Sounds like I may not want to get my hopes up. That, or your mother in law is the exception to the rule!

Another "new to me" cigar, courtesy of WNYTONY. 7-20-4 Lancero...7.5x38. After having several cups of good hot coffee and knowing I'd have time to sit back and enjoy hanging out with this Lady in her Brazilian wrapper, of course had to have some music...so what other than.

Astrid Gilberto,so unique, despite all the times this song has been recorded over the intervening years, nothing comes close to Astrid's original "The Girl From Ipanema."

Thanks much TONY.

Forgot that these need to be delicately cut (55 ring and box pressed) but they're a very nice Ecuadorian CT wrapper. Need to tend to it as the wrapper seamed a bit.

It had a great cedar note from start to finish, with hints of dark roast coffee and a bit nutty. There were a few spots in the 2nd third that went bitter, but that mellowed out and didn't last long. It had a nearly perfect draw and burn line throughout, solid medium body IMHO.
Enjoyed a nice Oliva MB III after dinner tonight. This one wasn't going to win any beauty pageants, aside from that no complaints. This one is continuing to rise to the top of my favorite Oliva sticks list.

Hi Chris,
Well described and dovetails to my experience with the "A" lines.
5-Vegas Double Nickle with coffee light sitting on the front porch in < 40 degrees. Front porch cuts the wind that's pretty lively today.
Drier (in a Chardonnay way) than other 5-Vegas Gold sizes, moderately sweet with nicely defined citrus over cedar and sneaky strong. As noted previously these develop wrapper tears near the cap (ring / box pressed) when cut or smoked. One of my favorite Ecuadorian CT and I think this is the taste profile that the new Macanudo Cafe blend wants to be although it still has more depth.

Great heads-up for me.:hail: I had tried a 6X50 Generoso Toro Vegas Cubanas and I found it to be delicious with its spice, wood etc... Since it is an expensive cigar for my budget I had planned to eventually try several more before buying a box.:stogie: I had remembered that this cigar had flawless construction and the flavor was complex; I enjoyed it down to the nub. Dang-it Bob you smoke some very interesting cigars!
Hey Moe,
Know it's taken me way too long to reply, been trying of late to catch up on some neglected stuff, bit less time here. Back when the Vegas were still in (original) production I smoked at least two ~ four boxes of the Generoso size. Think Don Pepin Garcia had the blend 'spot on' in the Generoso size. Must admit that the Vegas Cubanas were my number one choice at the time. Believe they were first DPG made cigars I smoked, and he had me hooked right then and there. As I recall those were to me at that time as close to the "Cuban" cigars I'd found. La Glora Cubano one my top two going way back.
pre embargo.
Cheers, Bob.

That Perfecto sure looks like one those that explode with a cloud soot right at about the mid point.
Bet it was you that gave him it, and lit it, so nicely , hung around so's not to miss the bang.

Just finished last Smoke Wed Night~First Thurs Morning . Matilde Renacer...5.2x54.Started on front porch, about half reduced to ash, came inside to finish reading Devils Peak, while listening to some Grateful Dead. Very enjoyable cigar, tho it didn't have that purple ash Alan S. coaxed from his cigar, good book ... and great music.
Burn time. Hour and Thirty Five Minutes.

Also, can't go wrong with the Dead as your music selection!

I have been slowly depleting my humidors of cigars so that I can replace these with cigars that I really love.:stogie: Your post was a reminder for me of a cigar that I had really loved, but forgot. I have to admit that before I had tried the Generoso, (recommended by a friend) I had never heard of this blend from DPG or even seen any other posts about it.:ask: This cigar is definitely on my buy list and as I said before you definitely "smoke some interesting cigars".
