This is the first Lancero that I have smoked in a long, long time. The smoke is very different from that of a robusto or a toro; it is more intense yet less voluminous. I was tempted to puff it more to get more smoke, but when I did it burned hotter. You taste more of the wrapper. This one was good, but not great; it burned unevenly but the flavor was good. It was enjoyable but I prefer cigars with a larger ring gauge.

I have my 83 year old grandma spending a couple of days with us and just had to make my smoked burgers while it's a warm 47* out (42* with wind chill). Why not smoke a stick while I'm out so I grabbed a Hoyo de Monterrey that Usafvet509 recently sent. Wow! Another great smoke! I've pulled the band to set aside...

I've been wondering about that too.
In addition to redesigning or updating the band the maker has changed, the blend is said to be close to the original.
Sizes and names of the sizes are all changed also.
Have only smoked the older ones, and they've had some age on them, expect it's unlikely if smoked side by side they would be that much alike.
Perhaps much the same or maybe the new one is better.
Edit/update. The new Murcielago Toro is the same size as the original Murcielago Toro Grande.

This one has mainly hispanic leaves for the innards, a KY dark air wrapper, and a CT Broadleaf binder, also from KY. It's very nice but is slightly tougher to draw than it should be, but not too bad.

Gurkha Double Maduro. Perfect draw, perfect burn, and nice dense ash. I love it when I can hear it drop off and hit the ashtray. Every one so far has been well worth the <$2 they go for on cbid.

Yeah, I went there. Not sure about other Gurkhas but these get a thumbs up.

I like the old one better. Not sure if it's from the age that was already on the old one, the blend changes, or both. Maybe a long nap will help them.
Murcielag Toro Grande...6.5x54 the older version would perhaps have been the best choice for a side by side comparison . Smoked the last of the Toro Grandes I had this past Tuesday. If one were to compare one of the newest iteration to one blended by Don Pepin Garcia it would not only be matching an aged cigar against a younger one, but cigars produced from varying crops, different countries maybe. Then leaving aside variations in the storage and making.
We'd still have to consider that the new cigars are said to be an" attempt" to replicate the original blend.I've oinly a very few of the Old"" DPG made Murcielago Churchills left, but thinking to get some of the newer Murcielagos, in the nearest size to see how well they match up for me.Not an altogether bad Idea that your post has inspired.
ThanksDustin, for your take on the Murcielagos.

Haven't smoked much lately as it's been cold, I've been busy, and my smoking tent was crushed by the snow last weekend. Making up for it tonite w/ a nice Brohiba. This one has mainly hispanic leaves for the innards, a KY dark air wrapper, and a CT Broadleaf binder, also from KY. It's very nice but is slightly tougher to draw than it should be, but not too bad.

Darn shame that Snow damage to the heater and all the rest, but at least you have some grand Brohibas to smoke while waiting for the snow to melt and the chance to get the tent repairs done.

Late posting Fridays smokes. Late Morning a E. P. Carrillo Regalias Real...5.6x46 along with two cups of hot coffee.

The afternoon's cigar an Liga Undercrown Flying Pig Maduro...four and one eight inches in length and sixty ring gauge.
The first of these I have smoked, quite impressed by the quality of this cigar.
It burned longer than I'd expected given the rather short size,74 Minutes of very enjoyable smoking time.
This cigar has had an extra sixteen months of rest before being lit.
A much, very much appreciated gift from my Secret Santa Defetis.
Quite sure you have set the hook with this superb smoke, and I'll have to find more of them.
Thanks again Joel for a memorable over the top Secret Santa experience

Finally! I don't mind the cold but my house is right on a hill in an open field. Anything above 2 mph winds around me and that means about 10 to 12 at my house. Today is the first decent day with a mix of calm and warmth in a few weeks. Making the most of it with a b&m purchase a few months ago. First one of these for me and so far so good, little lighter draw than I have had in the last few sticks but I like it.

Paul Stulac Fantasma Box Pressed...6x58 Last one I have, now Paul Stulac has only the one Lonsdale in any of his blends, and it's my first choice, perhaps for the most part due to the cigar size. Wish he'd either bring back the Panatellas he made in the past and/or make a corona in each of his lines.
The box Press of this Fantasma lets you (me) forget about the large ring gauge, somewhat while enjoying the smoke. Good way to see out January.

Just an added thought, letting any of the Paul Stulac cigars spend months or a year in your humidor you'll not be running a risk of them having lost fl;avour, nor will they burn any less well.

Would like to wish all on Cigarbum a happy Bandicoot Day, know it's still a couple of months away, but since I might miss then I'm doing so in advance.

Alan, It was a fantastic smoke full of great flavors. The only issue I had with it was a bit of a wonky burn in the middle and it kept trying to go out on me. It is ROTT so I'm hoping the others will improve with some rest.

Nica Rustica...6x52. This Toro sized cigar seems to be just a bit shy of the Giant Sequoia, maybe a full grown Oak. Smoking time was two hours and twenty four Ninutes
sitting on the front porch watching the rain falling and the daylight fading away. felt like just little more smoking time from this cigar and it'll be Spring. Don't think I'd say this was a Mild cigar, first time in a long while that right from the start there was that kick. Drew Estate could well have named it Bruce Lee. Whatever the name this Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapped cigar is no lightweight, the pleasure of a first time to enjoy a Nica Rustica is due the generosity of Defetis the sender of fine cigar.
Thanks Joel...and best wishes for a fast recovery and return to full mobility.

Everything I've seen said a winter release of 1,000 boxes each year. Huber made the for cold weather smoking so I think they are here to stay and not limited, other than the 1,000 boxes per year. Was lucky enough to snag a box off the devil site at a good price so I'm set for a little bit.

This was actually another of yours from the NST. It was a nice change from some of the fuller flavored stuff I've had lately. Not to say that it lacked flavor, maybe just a little smoother than some of the others. Had a small wrapper issue toward the end but I've read that the Cameroon's can be a little picky about that. All in all, I enjoyed it and will add them to the list of cigars to smoke more of.

Decided to burn my last CAO Gold I've been holding on to. Had it not been for the sampler packs that CI had coupling them with my favorite Avo Classic I'd not have known about these.

Room 101 Master Collection Two Roxxo...4x48.
This early morning cigar's shorter than it's name, but with some good hot coffee provided a start to this day.
Figure to find something to smoke in case there's some sport event on TV today.

Sunday afternoon smoke. Cabaiquan Corona Extra...5.6x48. First one of these I've smoked in a while,as always nice to find a cigar smoking as well as you recall it doing in the past. In the case of this excellent Connecticut wrapped cigar the consistent quality comes as no surprise, Don Pepin Garcia's blending skill and the the quality production of the cigars from the My Father factory assure a good smoking cigar, as this one received from Tim (Cardinal) delivered in spades, thanks much Tim, really enjoyed this one.

Pulled this Punch Signature to try while I drink some habanero strong ale I brewed that just doesn't have the heat I was looking for having never used it.

Upon lighting this stick I thought, "Oh boy!" It has a note to it showing it has some authority and strength, though the flavor wasn't overbearing. So I looked it up, which I usually do prior to choosing, and see it is indeed a full stick, though I figured it to be more of a Med-Full as it plays a bit more nicely than the few other fulls I've lit. And so I'm wondering if I'll need a nap soon!

Usafvet509 sent this to me not long ago. Thanks Trent!

Having a lovely Brohiba this evening. This one's viscera consist of mainly Hispanic leaves, bound w/ KY Dark Air, and wearing "Aged CT Broadleaf," also from KY. The latter is ugly and wrinkly but tasty. Pairing w/ Johnny Walker Black which is smooth and tasty.

Flor del Valle las Brumas...4.5x48. Every time I light one of these up I'm thinking of/ impressed by the wrapper as well as how well they smoke.
This is the time to enjoy a good cigar, along with a couple of cups of good coffee, two habits that for go quite smoothly hand in hand, each complementing the other.

Everything I've seen said a winter release of 1,000 boxes each year. Huber made the for cold weather smoking so I think they are here to stay and not limited, other than the 1,000 boxes per year. Was lucky enough to snag a box off the devil site at a good price so I'm set for a little bit.

I had a Daniel Marshall torpedo (not the gold flake covered one, mind you) and it was really, really tasty!

I noticed it had a very thick wrapper, it looked like two or three leaves!
