Been a relatively smoke free summer so far but things are winding down. Finished my courses and will be starting a new business venture soon, hopefully eventually stepping away to it full time. Once the diploma arrives I'll enjoy that Cohiba Steelman sent 2 years ago. For tonight it's a Nica kinda night.

Well after three weeks of complaining I finally went to see a doctor about me back.
They gave me a shot and a bunch of pills so I can be swimmy headed.But it does
seem loads better,don't tell my wife. Enough so I fired up my pipe this morning and
am headed for the porch with an A.J.Fernandez Last Call Genials Natural, compliments
of WNYTONY .Thank you Tony ! By they way my Sister in law loves Sedaris.

After Noon cigar. Vegas Cubanas Corona...5.5x44. Barely managed to finish smoking this cigar in the high dry heat of the afternoon before being driven indoors.
May...but only maybe recover from that exposure to Sunlight. Scary, way too for me.
After a couple more cups of Tim Holton may find something else to smoke.

Internet was out Saturday so here is the weekend rundown.
After dinner Sat. I went with a Maduro AJF Last Call, from WNYTONY
A really great cigar IMHO. Good draw and burn line, with an almost caramel sweetness. There was a hint of cedar along with the standard coco/coffee I find in most Maduros.

This was also a really great stick, beauty to look at, perfect draw and burn line. Not to mention an ash that just wouldn't quit! Thought it to be a fairly medium bodied cigar from my limited knowledge (not in a bad way) lots of cream and overall a really nice smoke.

1971?????? Heck, you're old enough to be my brother.....What in the cat hair is a Pisco Sour? I had something close, but it was a funky night with a funky girlie. I'm just happy she was a fair shot at best....

2016 La Palina Maduro #40, thanks to jhedrick83
Sweet with a bit of spice, but not too much. Builds to a creamy finish, tight draw to start but opened up about 1" in. Really enjoyed it, look forward to the next one. Some '76 Dead and a homemade iced coffee to accompany it.

Here're the 1971 Bands. The cigars were made using tobacco from a small region in Peru.

As I recall they're Puros, they have a *signature* red hue that's pretty distinctive.

Edit; Up date...Seem to recall the growing region was near the border with Bolivia.

If you want convincing, take a peek at the reply I sent to Sunfire in the "What do you Drive" thread a couple of days back.
Ok that's only 1973.
But there's another pix of mine that I took in 1970 at Ohio State, in the" Who's Dat?" thread. Alan S. had a name, but not the right fellow.
Soon's I can find that thread (yup really slow on locating anything using a computer) I'm going to put a another photo of mine into that thread putting a name to the subject and this ones is easy to check for the date.
Kayla, you were off by a bit, when you said too young to smoking cigars in 1971.
Started smoking cigars about half way thru 1950, was a daily cigar smoker by the end of August 1951.
So been smoking 'em for a fair while now.
Birthday coming around fifteen days from now.
Will be 83...just may be one of the Bums that's been smoking, for longest time.

You're prolly one of the more mature, if not, wiser gentleman on this site. My father made it to the ripe old age of 53 until his seventh heart attack decided he had enough. When we lived in Nawlins' (New Orleans) dad lived the full Nawlins' life. He smoked a lot of Salem cigs. If some is good, then more is more better. He passed in April of 1977. I started smoking in 1972-1973, but no cigars until 1995......

Tuesday morning Cigar. Flor de Las Antillas Robusto...5x50. Late posting this has been one screwy day, was lucky to get time to smoke this one at all. Heck lit it up even before getting some very much needed coffee brewed and drunk.

Asylum Premium Petite Corona Thanks to my friend WNYTONY
I liked this one, I was worried it was going to burn funky due to how humid it was after the afternoon thunderstorm we had. It held it's own though and gave a good draw with a perfect burn line with a nice medium body. I will be getting more of these, and will have to try their 13's soon.

I haven't had the Pet Coro before, but I scored a tenner of the Asylum Premium Toros from Cigar Bid back in July of 2015. I really enjoyed them, and if I remember correctly I sent a few out back when, and I have one more stashed away for a long term project. I hope the teacher gives me an A on the project......

I have so far liked all Oliva cigars I have tried, those being, Serie G Special G Maduro & Cam, Serie V Melanio, and even they Factory selects ( apparently Serie O seconds and quiet enjoyable IMHO )
So I had to give this one a try, it's been on my short list for a bit now. Again thanks to my friend jhedrick83

Nice picture of that cigar, don't know what sort of plant s you have there, but the sight of the two
'leaves' curling in to deliver a Vampire bite to your finger sure is freightening.

Guess there may well be some sort of Bermuda Onion Triangle time ~space warp twixt here and your location.
Can't recall exactly when I last smoked a La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor but it was very nice indeed.
However...
I'm certain that when I did smoke one of those aside from a little nub end all the rest was...ash.

Friday Afternoon cigar. H R Sublimes...6.5x54. Smoked the last one of these Non Havava Hiroshi Robiana gems a while back. But today pulled out the one I'd I hid from myself for "someday." That day came round bit sooner than I expected. If unlike His Excellency Sir. Dog Rockets you have to light your cigar yourself, the closed foot on the Sublimes makes that perfectly even light so nearly effotless, and I believe a closed foot allows the blender's nuanced
to really shine. Sure have thoroughly enjoyed smoking every Sublime I've had. Did have a pic or two of these, Photobucket's holding those for ransom.
Burn time was, Two Hours and Six Minutes.

No pics today but got to meet up with Brimy and Hardheaded at Buffalo Cigars for a few smokes this evening. Brian was in town dropping off his boy at college and pm'd me this time and the stars aligned so that all 3 of us could make it.

Great meeting you two and while it certainly wasn't the epic DogRockets Orgy - it was a nice threeway, great music, the Yankees lost and we got in a little practice for next year's slutfest, right ?

What did you think of it? I have a pair of each of their lines sitting.You have everything sitting ! Good solid smoke but didn't wow me. I liked the Icon/now Trademark much more than this one. Burned great and smoked well but not big on flavor.

I just picked a couple up earlier this week and couldn't wait to try it. So far it is pretty good. The burn has been incredible for practically no rest. I might grab a couple more and let them sit for a few months.

3 years has mellowed them out quite a bit. I think these are meant to be smoked fresh. Its still a great stick but I liked them better last year.

Trying another LADC Mi Amor.

Haven't had a taste for these since I smoked a Churchill early on and it damn near killed me. Funny how the body/brain remembers things things that made it sick in the past. I once puked on lima beans as a kid - haven't been able to eat the wretched things since...
So far so good with this robusto though, creamy sweet and tasty so far... reminds me of some of the Havanas I've had.
Ya, this is good. If it doesn't go south on me, I could see getting a box of these...

Tuesday-Wednesday. Vegas Cubanas Corona...5.5x44. Don't really smoke so slowly that one cigar takes two days. Lit just before Midnight, then had to put it down after Twenty Minutes, took a while before I was able pick it up again relight and finish smoking the cigar, burned well, but I've no idea how long. Right now, Three AM, think its time to try one of these again, plenty of time left before Sun up.

What did you think of the Illusione? Not always the prettiest thing in the world but I love them. Great budget smoke too. Small Batch always has them and I think you can get them about $4 a stick now after a promo code. Superior Cigars used to have them for like $150 for a cab of 50 but I only see the Connecticuts on there now.

Sorry about that, I like them. Andy sent me one when I first joined and Tony did as well with his MAW bomb, so I was very excited when you hit me with them too. I didn't know you could get them from small batch, so I will be checking that out very soon.
Not trying to sound like a kiss butt, but so far every stick all three of you have sent for me to try I have liked. With most being on my re order asap list.:stogie:

Very,very early Friday Morning. Pedro Martin...4.5. Clad in light brown cello this cigar received in Bomb from the Shadow (AKA Alan S) was an extremely nice Hour and Twenty Minute smoke.Enjoyed at the very beginning of this day, thanks Alan S. tracker of hidden gems.

What did you think of the Relic?
Had one or two some months back and thought that they needed a nice long nap to possibly become something more.

I have no idea how long this one was down as it was gifted to me but it was good - something I would definitely try again. After sampling some of the AJ combo sticks he's been doing with Hoyo and H Upmann it was good to get back to a solid AJ Fernandez cigar.

Saturday Afternoon Cigar. Flor de Crossier Coloniales...5.125x44. This was a very nice cigar Bombed to me by Alan S.
Good looking, first rate construction, solid, not hard with just the right amount of give, feels just right in the hand, easy light.
Near razor sharp burn, no need of relighting or touching up, good smoke production relatively solid ash, super smooth retrohale start to finish.
Alan S. certainly has a knack for finding cigars that match up with some of the very best & most flavourful cigars as this one from San Jose.
