Hell, I was just tossing the dice hoping it was you. Anyhow, thank you to whoever sent this cigar to me as I'm really enjoying it! I looked it up, and found out a bit about the brand.

Back in the early part of 2011, Mark Just of Tower Cigars announced that he had purchased Chaveta cigars, a boutique brand that is produced by Flores y Rodriguez, the parent of Pinar Del Río, who recently opened up a new Dominican factory. The original blend uses a Brazilian Bahia Maduro wrapper over Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers.

In February of 2012, Chaveta announced it would be releasing a Limited Edition of its Toro cigar with a Habano wrapper and a little Pennsylvania tobacco added to the Dominican and Nicaraguan filler combination in the normal Chaveta line. There were only 50 boxes of 20 Toros released.

Hell, I was just tossing the dice hoping it was you. Anyhow, thank you to whoever sent this cigar to me as I'm really enjoying it! I looked it up, and found out a bit about the brand.

Back in the early part of 2011, Mark Just of Tower Cigars announced that he had purchased Chaveta cigars, a boutique brand that is produced by Flores y Rodriguez, the parent of Pinar Del Río, who recently opened up a new Dominican factory. The original blend uses a Brazilian Bahia Maduro wrapper over Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers.

In February of 2012, Chaveta announced it would be releasing a Limited Edition of its Toro cigar with a Habano wrapper and a little Pennsylvania tobacco added to the Dominican and Nicaraguan filler combination in the normal Chaveta line. There were only 50 boxes of 20 Toros released.

I like them. I would agrees that flavor does pick up noticably about an inch in. It builds in strength and pepper and is cedary. Overall I like them. I've had one maduro and a few Connecticut's. The maduro was very good. I'll have to try some more. The Conny is also excellent and not as mild as most.

I used to smoke everything on mesquite (beef) until I did this with rabbit. The nastiest tasting thing ever! Now I use mostly oak with a little hickory and/or mesquite. I should try all hickory if I can find logs.

Still are! Lots of flavor, smooth. Smoke bomb all the way through. Despite a few cracks in the wrapper; burned well all the way through; nice and even. Good down to the nub! Thanks again.

I have never encouraged or offered to him prior mostly on account of his mother; she doesn't really like my cigar smoking, but tolerates it. Building my cigar smoking companions. Already introduced my SIL to cigars and also my daughter's BF.

I'm in a similar boat, though I don't have many people who would smoke with me, and all of them reside in other cities. Funny as Karmen, back when I smoked cigarettes, had bought me a few cigars and is a big part of what got me going. But she has asthma and complains about those issues and the smell. *sigh*

I've only had their Kudzu but it is most excellent and if you like hoppy beers it plays very nicely. I highly recommend it!

Now for the first time since the 1960's I've no Non Cubans at all. A by intent development.
Took two and a half years to actually get my total count down to the number aimed at, but still don't have the variety where I'd like.
Non Cubans may be coming back in near future, have heard there's a certain Don Pepin Garcia making what are said to be fairly decent smokes,
so just may have to try something from him.

Got this in the Cigar Authority Care Package so it's my first 1936 and I have to say that I'm liking everything about it. Like the 5x50 size, the box press and this is smoking really smooth and surprisingly not too strong. Let me put it this way - I'm about halfway thru and already looked up prices..... :thumb:

Finally got around to picking up some Oliva Serie V Melanios
I usually like to smoke 3 or more before making a call, but if the next 4 are as good, well I'm sold.
About as perfect a draw as you could hope for, sharp burn line. Creamy, coffee, nutty, just really good. Burnt my lips and fingers on the last 1/2 inch, but hey that's OK with me.

This afternoon I had a 6X52 Don Kiki Red Label Limited Reserve Toro Premium cigar.:stogie: This cigar has been resting in my 65% rh humidor since 9-2-2012. After lighting this stick I got a little pepper, a delicious smooth caramel and creamy butter flavor; Wow! This was good.:santagrin: The construction of this cigar was very good with even burn, excellent draw and lots of delicious smoke.:thumb: I topped off this cigar with a large cup of hot coffee resulting in a wonderful afternoon.:leprechaun:

What did you think of that one?

Only had one so far, so a bit hard to make a fair judgement. That said, I really enjoyed it a lot. It was what I would consider to be medium bodied, with a great flavor profile. A little before the first 1/4 ended I began picking up a nice peppery tingle just behind the creamy chocolate and coffee notes. It never got spicy, but it played well off the other flavors nicely, which slowly turned earthy and leathery, maybe even a hint of almonds. As far as the cigar itself, it had a great draw, and perfect burn line. I suspect that some time resting would really make them shine, but IMHO it's good ROTT.

In all fairness. I originally got that suggestion from Sir Lancerolot long long ago in a forum far far away. I haven't had one in a while but I really dig them. Especially for the price. Glad you enjoyed it!
