Hahaha I did NOT toss it almost immediately, it takes a pretty bad cigar for me to give up on. But it did stain my fingers brown which usually indicates that the maduro wrapper has been artificially stained to look darker which is a pretty common practice. It was not something I would seek out again but it was still a smokable cigar.

Have still only had a couple Southern Draw's, but thought both were excellent, and have really been getting more into the extreme rg's of Lanceros and 60rg smokes somewhat recently and have enjoyed them a lot, much more than I had always expected.

I throughly enjoyed that one Kayla. Perhaps my taste has changed in the 3 years since I first tried them, or they benefit a LOT, from sleeping a few years, or a combination of both. I will circle back around and try them out again.

Alec Bradley Superstition Torpedo

Very tasty. First half was a bit disappointing with a constantly uneven burn, and wanting to go out.

Second half was fine though with perfect draw,burn and construction

Lots of smoke volume

A solid medium

Extremely easy draw, actually too easy. Even really pacing myself it burned very quickly.

Tons of smoke volume and a decent taste though.

My Father Vegas Cubana Corona 55x44.
Smoked this Pepin Garcia made Gem late this Monday afternoon. As usual an easy light sharp burn all the way to the nub. Had time late this Afternoon to just relax and enjoy the cigar. Burn time was One Hour and Fifty Eight Minutes,pretty decent for a corona could've gotten another 10~ 12 minutes if I wasn't still rushing the smokes, as if the temps were a lot lower.

At Ease (Marines)

Special made in Esteli Nicaragua for a 1 day event at the shop in about 2015, of Kayla (cheaphumidors), a very nice, generous lady.

There was Air Force, Marines and Navy.

Gave one of the Marines to a Marine Vietnam veteran here who smokes cigarillos often and thought he would appreciate it on a couple levels.

He isnt planning to smoke it, rather keep it as a neat piece of memorabilia like I'm doing with the Navy one, and had a big smile when I gave it to him and even showed it off to his kids and introduced me as the person who gave it to him.

Made sure to tell her that she made an old combat Marine very happy.

Now on to the one I smoked:

My two cents. Diesel core lines are great. Over the last two years they have branched out into some limited releases that were lack luster for their price point. That being said if you can get your hands on some Grinds or Rage those fly under the radar but knock it out of the park and the Diesel sideshow box is worth a try.

Perla del Mar Perla G Maduro

Extremely tasty as usual, and lots or smooth, rich, flavorful smoke, especially for being at least 5 years old, and likely older. The bomber didn't really know there age.

Maduros seem to age the best to me and become mellow and smooth but remain very flavorful.

A solid medium and nice 1 hour at least smoke

Very tasty and great smoke volume, plus quite smooth, in the first half. In the second half it became too strong for my liking unfortunately. The strength jumped up quickly from a medium to a very full suddenly in the second half.

What are your options on the Man-o-War and Ave Maria?

On a side note, when I first began smoking (in Canada) I was exposed to Cuban heritage brands that had names like Partagas, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta - Spanish and elegant sounding. Then, when I began looking at American market cigars I was thrown for a loop. Rocky Patel, Man - O - War, My Father to name a few.

CI is in my backyard so its my go to B&M. Man O' War is smoking great. The Ave Maria line is by far my most smoked cigar but the last year or so its been finkity. The wrapper seems way more fragile than in the past. It really needs a few months rest compared to past years. The Ave Maria Dark Night is like the middle ground between the Man O War and the classic Ave Maria. Classic Man O War, Ave maria, and Ave Maria Dark night are worth a try. The Argentum, and Diviana arae a close second in the Ave maria line. The reconquista is good but I have not seen one in the B&M lately. The imaculata is a decent CT wrapped ave but nothing special. Then the Lion heart and the Holy grail are my least smoked but worth a look but I would go with their other lines first.

The Ruination is a staple on the local B&M shelf but less popular. Personally I like torpedos and think that is the way to go. If you ever get a chance to try them in in salamon now those are stellar. I dont see those around very often but when get them in it makes my day.

I'm a sucker for the Torpedo, piramide, or Belicoso vitolas for some reason, and the Torpedo is actually the cheaper of the 2, so was already leaning that way

All this talk of Ruination made this an easy selection to start the weekend. The 10th Anniversary is my pick if you are going Ruination. I think on paper its listed as a fairly large RG but being box pressed I feel it sits nice in the hand and mouth.
