Oliva Connecticut Reserve Lonsdale

Extremely tasty and flavorful with a hint of spice. More full flavored than most Connecticuts I have had. Definitely a medium-full or full

Perfect draw and construction. Burn was uneven, but not badly

It is! My wife got me pushed down that hill a while back. I quickly went from extract kits to all grain batches of self made recipes. I enjoy math, science, cooking and beer, so it’s a great combo. I mostly brew Belgian styles but I make a bit of everything except IPAs and sours.
Awesome! I used to brew myself a long time ago, when craft beer was just starting to pick up favor.

I’ve got it worked out that I can typically do a Belgian brew day in 5.5 hours (longer step mash) and any other style in about 4 with clean up happening later. So every 2-4 weeks On a day when my son isn’t here, I get out of bed about 7 am and get things started. I have a little corner carved out in my garage that I brew in and I sit there and catch up on work (calls, emails, accounting, etc) while brewing. Get brewing done by 12-2 pm and then get to my office for more work.

Sounds great! With all the kids, the cleanup BEFORE I started brewing put me off. Just never got back to it. Now, I just find it easier to buy what I want. Plenty of options.

Hmmm. I think in that time you could catch up on some CigarBum. :poke: :kickshin:

You know, there's been days I have considered being a Trappist Monk... Especially if Nature is going to shame me like that. There's actually a Trappist Monastery near Bardstown Kentucky that one of my friends spent a couple months staying/working. Pretty sure they don't brew there though.

A nice Short Story with coffee earlier today. Yesterday we did Friendsgiving at my buddys place and I had an EPC Encore and a Davidoff Primero. I made sauce for lasagna and my buddy made a thanksgiving shepherds pie- an idea we came up with years ago talking about thxgiving leftovers. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles on repeat in the background- it was a great day!

Brick House Toro Maduro

Extremely tasty as usual, and very flavorful and smooth, about a medium-full even with what appears to be pretty good age based on the cellophane in the second picture.

Draw and construction were perfect, burn was pretty uneven until the 2nd third when it straightened itself out.

Very tasty and smooth,* and very flavorful.
First My Father of all the ones i have had recently after not smoking any for a few years that I actually enjoyed.
Used to love them,* but for some reason,* recently the flavor profile just hasn't done it for me. No idea why...
Perfect draw,burn and construction and a very attractive looking cigar with only 1 vein and invisible seams.* Very smooth feel and appearance.

Would definitely get more of these.

Man O' War Damnation Toro

Excellent taste and perfect draw and strength for a first smoke of the day.

1st third was a solid medium, then picked up to a medium-full for the rest.

Burn was stubbornly off, but not to bad so eventually just let it go.

Construction was good with the exception of the wrapper being very thin and a little fragile and just holding it a couple small spots came off.

Taste-wise, I have had a number of these in different sizes and all have been enjoyable (although I prefer the maduros), but this one was a little bit bitter and the flavor just didn't do it for me this time.

Could be an "off" cigar, or could have been me as I have some mild cold/flu symptoms today.

Man O' War Damnation Toro

Excellent taste and perfect draw and strength for a first smoke of the day.

1st third was a solid medium, then picked up to a medium-full for the rest.

Burn was stubbornly off, but not to bad so eventually just let it go.

Construction was good with the exception of the wrapper being very thin and a little fragile and just holding it a couple small spots came off.

Perla del Mar Perla G Maduro

Very tasty as always. Had never heard of these until receiving some in a bomb.

First third may be a medium-full, but definitely picks up to a solid full after that.

One of the few full cigars I enjoy.

Excellent draw and construction as always, but the burn kept getting pretty off.

Much better than I was expecting given the general opinions on Gurkhas, but it was pretty decent.

A solid medium

Definitely better than most give these credit for, but certainly not great.

Man O' War Virtue Churchill

A big'un at 7.5x52

Extremely tasty and excellent draw and construction

Wrapper got about a 1" crack at the head when cut for some reason, even though the cutter is sharp and the cut was clean and straight, but that's why I have a half ounce bottle of cigar glue

Burn was continuously off a fair bit, but oh well.

Extremely tasty and perfect draw,burn and construction.

A very nice little smoke.

Being Ligero, and an LFD which most seem to consider to typically full strength smokes, was surprised that the first third was mild, second third medium, then only in the last third picked up to full.

Consistently tasty, well made cigars across all 3 different wrappers I have smoked quite a few of, and still have a handful left of.

Really top notch smokes, especially having a few years age on them making them nice and smooth.

2017 AF Casa Cuba Divine Inspiration

Excellent taste as always with a Casa Cuba. First one with any age.

Very smooth and mellow, a mild-medium turning to a medium in the second half

Perfect draw,burn and construction

Excellent smokes.

Definitely planning to pick up a box of one of the Casa Cubas, depending on what I can find in stock at the time. Very few online sources, plus popularity, and many vitolas are usually out of stock.

May have to bump up my planned box purchase to January while I can still find some decent sized vitolas available.

Diamond Crown Maduro Robusto No.4

Nice thick, rich smoke but very smooth. Had some decent age based on the cellophane.

A good medium-full throughout.

Perfect draw and construction.

Burn tended to get a little off every so often, but not very badly.

Order keeps getting put off as everytime I start getting low on nc singles, I end up getting a flurry of bombs and end up with the tupperdor completely full.

I'm starting to suspect that the members of another forum are spying on my nc singles tupperdor with a hidden camera, lol

Happened to many times to be a coincidence, lol

Any recommendations on the best ones to try first?

It is a Grand Prize by EP Carrillo. Super inexpensive and quite tasty. It isn't the best looking stick in the world but it is nice and mellow and burns beautifully

Man O' War Armada Toro 6 1/2 x 56 as best I can tellYeah, that was the closest I could find too, but it fit loosely in the measuring whole for 54rg, so its definitely no bigger than that. Most likely a 52rg or a 54 that has shrank up some.

Diamond Crown Maduro Robusto No.3

Very tasty with thick, rich, maduro smoke

Perfect draw and construction

Burn got off a few times and needed correction, but that and appearance doesn't really bother me, which is good as this one was pretty veiny, rough, and just not very attractive

Had an underlying hint of that unique aged taste I get from cigars over around 5 years

Have really enjoyed every Crowned Heads I have tried, and I see the Headly Grange show up fairly often so will have to get some with my next nc order to check out.

Order keeps getting put off as everytime I start getting low on nc singles, I end up getting a flurry of bombs and end up with the tupperdor completely full.

I'm starting to suspect that the members of another forum are spying on my nc singles tupperdor with a hidden camera, lol

Happened to many times to be a coincidence, lol

Any recommendations on the best ones to try first?

Their first label was the Four Kicks and and that's a great place to start. Four Kicks, Luminosa and Headley Grange are the milder lines, while La Imperiosa, La Coalicion and Court Reserve are more full. As far as I'm concerned - you can't go wrong with any of them.

I would recommend La Faraona Cigars in Ybor, 1515 E 7th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605. The owner is a delightful woman who rolled in Cuba for 25 years and then came to America.
My favorite lounge is Cigar Castle, 11724 N 56th St, Tampa, FL 33617. It is pricier than some, but their selection of single malt scotches is amazing, as is their cigar selection.

Awesome you are able to go to the Ybor city festival. And great list of other cigar places to visit. Very jealous.

Did you use an app to locate all the places on your list, or just doing Google research?

Would love to visit Ybor city and check out Tampa Sweethearts in person, and hopefully get to tour the Arturo Fuente facility too as I'm a huge fan of both.

Also really want to go to Big Smoke in Las Vegas someday. Seems like it would be a great time. I really enjoyed Las Vegas the one time I went there for vacation. Not a big gambler, but plenty of other stuff to do and loved hanging out at Casa Fuente and going to the Davidoff store, both in the shops at Caesars Palace.

Will have to start saving up instead of always spending all the money I have left after paying rent here at the veterans home. Since I can no longer work and am retired, would really be a shame not to take advantage of the situation and go to both within the next couple years.

Unknown age exactly, but the bomber thought 5 years at least.

My husband just called me out. I had one of these yesterday (but I didn’t take a photo). He looked over at me and said “didn’t you just smoke one of those yesterday?”

I had no idea he had any awareness of what cigar I smoke. I wouldn’t have even thought he could distinguish between cigars.

I definitely trust and put the most stock in "regular people's" comments, reviews and just seeing what gets posted frequently.

Is the Cedrus woody in taste as the name would suggest?

See them come up often, so logic says that they must be pretty good smokes, and woody is probably my favorite flavor to taste in a cigar.

Probably part of why I'm a sucker for tubos with a cedar sleeve, or a cedar wrapped cigar, even though it doesn't really seem to make them more likely to have a woody taste in them, lol

I have very broad tastes in cigars and it's really not very common for me to have one I don't enjoy, most often just didn't enjoy them enough for the price.

Have just recently done my first "full length" reviews. The admin of another forum sent me 11 1997 to 2001 nc's he wanted me to do full reviews on, and have only done 8 so far, so really still fleshing out the best way to do them somewhat. Have enjoyed doing it, and after I post a review, he posts a history of the times for the specific cigar, and info one the cigars in particular.

Has been a pretty enjoyable collaboration.

Turkey Day Evening.
Lost & Found thanksgiving theme robusto 5x50 (I think) there was a football game Cowboys & Raiders pretty sloppy game.
Cigar was an easy smoke very good construction and burn. Better'n I was expecting.

Part two Turkey Day Evening a little later.
Second one ft these Lost & Found *specials. Now after seeing the pix in the earlier post I know it was a Nicaraguan, the Habano wrapper was asll I was sure of when smoking these. Yeah good smokes.

Leaf by Oscar Corojo Lancero

Excellent taste with quite a bit of spiciness the entire length.

Perfect draw,burn and construction and amazing smoke production from such a small rg cigar.

Also being wrapped in a leaf vs cellophane is a pretty cool thing.

Actually saved it in a ziplock bag with a 69% Boveda to use for repairs where the binder is broken/cracked (typically from me using the draw tool on smaller rg cigars and not going in straight and punching through the side)

Maybe, but she doesn’t hassle me about it. She knows it’s something that I deeply enjoy, as with playing guitar, so she’s very supportive.

Doing a little reading, strength and flavor profile seem like a good match of my preferences.

CI says medium strength and earth, leather, toast and coffee taste, and earth and leather I very much enjoy.
