My “back to reality” stick. Very good, but I need to be honest with myself- I was expecting more… still going to be trying to hunt down the new sizes but wont be willing to pay much more than MSRP. Again, still very good, but the regular Hemingways are just about as good IMO. Only regret is how high my expectations were, the extra $ goes to a good cause

Millesione D'Or ~ Julian Seud & cia. 6.5x44.
Do not have exact burn time but it was over two Hours of pleasure on a fine Warm 79-80 degree Evening. Summer this late in October.

No idea of the blend in this Millesiione D' Or but it's a really fine smoke, great construction with an extremely even burn line.

AF Chateau Fuente Cuban Belicoso Sun Grown

Extremely tasty as always.

Perfect draw, burn was off inspite of multiple corrections,construction was perfect, but wrapper peeled almost completely off and was dry and brittle. Don't really think this was a construction issue though.

Have been having issues with dry, brittle wrappers lately, inspite of being in an airtight Tupperware with more than enough 65%, plump Bovedas for about 6 months.

Great taste, but burn was off badly the entire time in spite of repeated corrections. Wrapper peeled some at the head, and pretty badly at the foot about a third of the way thru.

Draw was easy, but required multiple puffs to get much smoke.

Ashton La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Reserva Divino Box Pressed 6.25x52.
Don Pepin Garcia / My Fathers Cigars. Smoked shortly after a Diplomaticos No2. Both cigars close to the same size, the Divino excellent construction, even burn line, no need to relight or touch up, plenty of smoke, nice retrohales, All in all an excellent cigar and good value for it's price.
The Diplomaticos No2. On another level in all respects... but harder to find,and a tad costlier,worth it tho.
Just My take on two good cigars. And it is really a case of comparing Apples to Oranges.....they're alike but different.

Very good to hear as I used to love opus x's but the couple I tried recently were just way too strong on flavor and nicotine.

Hoping the various ones I have now, all from 2016 except a God of Fire that is 2010, have mellowed out enough for me to actually be able to taste them instead of overwhelming my palate.

Excellent taste.

Cold draw was nonexistent so used my perfecdraw tool. Unfortunately it cracked the wrapper pretty badly, which caused the area around the crack to burn faster than the rest, so burn was very uneven inspite of multiple corrections.

Construction and draw were excellent while smoking

Definitely had some age to it as the cellophane was very yellowed

What's the verdict on that stick G?!Third one I've smoked and I got no complaints. It's a bit on the ass kicking side (it's an AJ after all), but nice flavors and perfect draw on each. Dry flavors for the most part, toasted wood notes, walnuts husk, little pepper, and some cinnamon.

Had a cigar last night for the first time in a couple of weeks.
A Padron 3000 Natural, along with a glass of Famous Grouse on the rocks.
It hit the spot very nicely.

Burn was pretty uneven the whole time and gave up trying to correct it.

Smoked it until the smoke was too hot and was burning my fingers though

Was at the local shop the other day when the owner was opening deliveries and he had these new undercrown boxes with these little things in them. One is San Andreas wrapper, ones CT broadleaf binder and the other is filler leaves. He gave me one of each so figured I'd try them out.

Starts off with a Big Bang of pepper; red and black.
Earthy, minerally, at times almost chalky.
Wood. Initially oak then transitions to cedar.
Floral notes, heightened in last third.
Nuts, cashews.
Faint cinnamon weaves in and out.
Pepper diminishes early during the first third and is nearly absent in middle.
Returns in and out picking up just a bit in last third, but mostly black pepper.
Most disappointing, this burned fast!
Maybe needs a bit more fill.

I'm sure there are decent smokes in the mix, if not purely by accident. It's mostly their marketing I can't stand. There are blenders that rarely or never roll a bad cigar - or roll very few of them; Padron, AJF, Fuente et al. Then there are blenders with more 'blends' than anyone can keep track of and yet constantly rolling out new ones; think Rocky and Gurkha. To me it gives the impression that they don't know what they're doing or don't even care just as long as there are cylindrical brown things on shelves with their bands on them. (I'm not willing to wade thru a mountain of crap just to find a decent smoke in the mix. With the few cigars I smoke, I'd like to actually smoke a decent one, not research a pile of garbage.) Gurkha then takes the extra step by trying to pass themselves off as the most coveted, uber-premium of the premiums and by putting some ridiculous MSRP on practically every stick to try and back that claim up. I call it the 'gilded turd marketing approach'. Having fallen victim to a few gilded turds in my day (other products - not cigars), I have come to resent any company or salesman who markets in this way and simply won't buy any of their products.
