What do you think of the Oliva MB3's?

I was recently gifted a bunch in 3 different vitolas and thought they were pretty good, but a little too strong for me and had a hint of bitterness.

Planning to age them and hopefully mellow them out down into the medium range and hopefully get rid of the bitterness.

Someone on another forum told me that these are supposedly aged 5 years before being sent out and that oliva specifically says that further aging will have no effect.

Can't find anything about this claim anywhere, including Olivas website, about further aging having no effect, which seems impossible to me.

Have you heard this or know anything about aging them?

Didn't notice any sweetness personally, but it was pretty mild, and I don't have the greatest palate unfortunately and don't taste a lot of things that others do

Really wish nc manufacturers would put the date of manufacture on the box like all cc's.

No idea why they don't. Not like it would be difficult, time consuming or add cost.

One of these days when I go to Big Smoke in Vegas, which is very high on my bucket list, I'll try to remember to ask some of them about it.

Maybe we will get lucky and they will be prompted to start doing it, lol.

Unlikely, but I would love an explanation of why they don't.

I have a bunch of Cigars I was bombed with that have an unknown date as the gifter couldn't remember, and that would just be when they bought it

This one and the first one smoked beautifully. Tons of smoke output, great flavor. I wouldn’t actually let them all rest too long… I’d be worried they might lose something over time, a la old Liga Privada.

Also, I’d swear there was some fire-cured tobacco in there. A really interesting blend, for sure.

Right about My preferred ring gauge size for the Corona Gorda size. Can and do smoke some of the stouter cigars, but a well made traditional size Corona just feels 'right' in the hand as well as smoking well.
A 7" to 7.5" Churchill with a ring gauge of 46 to 47~48 is more tha enuff baccy at one time for Me. The 7x70s and bigger are just not for me. I'll pass on the 4x64s too.

Agreed. Running is not fun. Anyone who says it is fun is lying, maybe to me, or maybe to themselves, I'm not sure which one. Going for a run at 4 am is a great way to ensure that my day can only get better from there.

Maybe should call this a late Morning smoke rather than Afternoon, but the cigar was 'nubbed' at two minutes past one PM.
Either way these are very good smokes, tho I'd rather replace most of the (thicker RG) Toros with Lonsdales ~ Panatellas from now.
A 47 Ring Gauge Churchill just feels better than a 50 Ring Gauge Toro for some reason.

Yep, I can’t do it after work, way too hot. This morning, according to my watch it was 77 degrees and 100% humidity but better than 93 degrees and 100% humidity!

Jess and I are celebrating our 6 year wedding anniversary so I figured its the perfect time for a special smoke! This was our cake topper- shows how cool she is haha. Been together 13 years (she was buying me booze since she turned 21 before me haha). Love her to death- she is a real keeper. Sorry to get all gushy…happy Saturday to all!

Update: Absolutely loved this cigar. While I do think its a bit overpriced it is a fantastic smoke. Wasnt quite the religious experience I was hoping for, but I am happy I have 2 more- think I will make it a tradition and have my first aging experiment

Ok, this is a unique one... DTT-EX-38 that Regiampiero bombed me (yes, it was a bomb).

I read the press release about it having some little-knownCosta Rican leaf in it. But its Saka, so idk what to believe.

To me, it comes off as having some aromatic pipe tobacco in it on the pre-light smell test.

Posting yesterday with jrfoxx about cuesta Rey smokes .digging thru humi today and on bottom found cuesta Rey Centro fino #55, must have had 2 to 4 years age . Still good with nice sun grown flavor. Something to be said for the old lines that have been around awhile.

Diamond Crown (CFW) Robusto No.2

Excellent mild-medium strength and great taste.

Decent burn and perfect draw.

Construction-wise, most of the wrapper cracked and peeled off just from normal handling while smoking. Very thin and brittle. Not really a big deal to me though as it still smoked just fine.

We are getting our first taste of fall today, absolutely beautiful out.
Thought it was a perfect day, to finally give one of these sticks a try. A big thank you to WNYTONY for the split, allowing me to try them before getting a full box, or two.
I waited to pot until I was through the first 3rd, to have a general idea of my first impression. So far it is a very tasty smoke, and I’m not disappointed at all. Construction is good, burn is razor sharp, perfect draw to be this close to rott, and you have to love that band.

When it comes time to restock on Fuentes I plan to get the Classic and Signature in the Sungrown, as the Signature was more recent and it was delicious, so I'm sure the Classic will be too.

I love the taste of Sungrown wrapper smokes. Just very tasty. For the Flor de Ybor City (which is rolled by Fuente and are great smokes) sampler I bought, I chose the Sungrown wrapper and they too have been great.

Kevin, nope this cigar stuff is to put it mildly confusing, Garcia/My Father along with some others, A. Fuente for one have oner heck of a lot cigars, Garcia makes more than few for others,like Crowned heads, Aston,Tatuaje.La Imperiosa. etc. The first Garcia igar, as I recall was the Vegas Cubanas that I smoked, way back when He was working out of a small place in Miami, and I was hooked on his cigars right then. Now I smoke more of his stuff than likely all other non Cubans combined.

First live show and I've been a Dead Head ever since. Like getting hooked by the Vegas Cubanas from the "other Garcia'. By the way, Pepin Garcia made some very fine cigars for Nestor Miranda, especially the long thin star of the Miranda show.
The original Murcielago cigars which I liked a lot were made for Epinosa by Pepin Garcia. I've not tried the 'new" Murcielago's tho they're supposedly close to those made by Garcia.
Cigars & Coffee may not be every ones cup of Tea. They have to make do with Tea For the Tillerman.

Part of a trade with jrfoxx Solid smoke! I couldn’t believe how much it smelled like chocolate before lighting- something I normally dont notice. I will say the Flor De Las Antillas i had last week is still my favorite My Father ive had so far. Not putting this one down by any means but that stick really set the MF bar for me. So glad there are a couple fellow Dead Heads in here! I am quite jealous thats u guys have gotten the full experience- i was 7 yrs old when Jerry died. I did see “The Dead” with Warren Haynes (whom I love) which was absolutely phenomenal but I know it wasnt the real thing. The music never dies though and there’s an insane amount of recordings out there so im very grateful for that. Play Dead

Torano Vault blend Do42, six years age. Digging in humi and found this. This was one they made 3 blends from tobacco supposedly found in a vault. Pretty good smoke, might have a few more lurking. Enjoyed toranos, don't know why I got away from them. Haven't smoked one in well, 6 years

You can’t help when your born, but at least your still able to enjoy the music. My wife’s first show was after Jerry Died also, not because of age. I turned her onto them when we got married in 2000. Her first was “The Dead” with Jimmy Herring in the lead spot during the 2003 Sumer Getaway tour. We were only able to catch the Atlanta show. That was the first time I had seen them all together ( obviously minus Jerry and Vince ) since my last Grateful Dead show, which was the 3 night run in Charlotte 95. After those Charlotte shows and Jerry’s death, the only show I went to before the 03 Atlanta show, was RatDog at the HOB in Myrtle Beach SC, in May 2000. The 03 Atlanta show also had Joan Osborn which gave it a somewhat late 70s Donna vibe, plus Herring was very respectful of the part he played. Dylan, opened for them, and Sammy Hagar came out for Loose Lucy, and the JB Goode encore. Then during the Wave That Flag tour in 04 me, my oldest friend/tour buddy went and caught Charlotte and Raleigh August 17/18. Warren was in the lead spot this time, as with Herring, Warren was very respectful of the part he played. We even took my friends little brother since he was getting into them, all three of the shows (from both those tours ) were fun, energetic, and had outstanding set lists. It did hurt not to see Jerry, the spirit of the Grateful Dead was present though and I’m glad to have seen them. Shortly after my health started to seriously decline, so my show days are unfortunately over it would appear.

Anyhow, try not to get to hung up on not having seen Jerry ( yes I realize that’s easy for me to say ) Between the Dead Archive and tons of other LP, CD, DVD sources, the magic is still there and always will be.

We’ll I liked it also, even 1 day after being delivered. I could tell they need some rest to really shine like most other Warped sticks. But I did enjoy it very much. The construction was great, draw was top notch, as was the razor sharp burn line. I felt it was medium body, and a nice flavor profile.

Interested in Tony’s thoughts on it, but I’m sure he’ll make us wait till Wednesday. Lol!

That's a beautiful looking cigar how did it smoke?It was a nice looking cigar. V-cut and it seemed like a decent draw, but once lit it was like sucking walnuts through a pig's ass. Had to pinch and roll it a lot. Eventually it came out good near the pic. Not much typical oscuro, but more heavy and dark syrup-y. Had to toss early due to kids, but I've got a couple more. Hoping they're not all like that. Got it and the others back in Jan for $1/ea off Cigarbid so it should've been more than well rested.
