Not pictured but I stopped by a B&M on my route and decided to try a JFR for the first time, usually I shy away from JFR because they tend to be on the larger RG side but I found a Junior and while it wasn’t a Maduro, I decided to give it a go anyway. Wow, great intro to the brand. The Corojo wrapper was subtle but flavorful, the draw was excellent, and the vitola was perfect.

This is the second one out of the box of 10 that I’ve smoked. I smoked the first one the day the box arrived because I’d never had a Te Amo and I was curious about a Mexican Puro. It was ok, definitely had potential though. This one has about a month’s rest on it and while that’s not much time at all, it’s a much more dialed in smoke. Maybe it’s just this particular cigar in the box was rolled better but the flavor is more refined, the draw is much better (the first was too free) and the overall construction is much better. I’m excited to see how these mature with age. A nice little “not so hidden” gem in the budget stick market.

Lately I have been getting their international blends. I like them all.

I always throw a few of the Cuban blends in the flight bag just because they make me feel “a little dirty” when I destroy them Stateside.

Back in the day Te Amo used to be a big deal - have smoked a few of those myself but not in a long time. Glad to hear they are still a solid smoke !

First lancero vitola of the Leaf series, for me. If I'm remembering correctly - these seem to be fuller/bolder than the toro and the maduro is heavier. Can't recall too many vitola differences between sticks, but I believe it is showcased between the vitolas in this line, at least for the Maduro.

Tuesday Evening smoke.
My Father The Judge Grand Robusto Box Pressed Sumatra Wrapped 5x60.
This BIG cigar sent to Me by My Secret Santa Old Smokey, big thanks Steve. I've smoked some of the Garcia's The Judge, but tho at 6x52 they're big cigars, this at 5x60 makes them seem kinda slim, that BP looks like they're two inches wide! Smoking two at once, one stacked atop the other would need Bulldog jaws for sure. These cigars do taste and smoke a bit unlike any other of the Pepin Garcias, the initial kick is something, maybe due to the wrapper and as stated the double binder, I do like Sumatra and the pepper~spice that lets one know it's a My Father cigar. Burntime: One Hour and Eleven Minutes, burnt almost to the nub. Sorry I don't have a solo shot of this one, but expect it is easy to spot in this pix of some of fine smoke Steve sent Me.

I think you will like the Lancero a lot better. I have tried both it and Corona Gorda and I have to force myself not to grab one every week. At least I have a box sleeping atm. All this talk, I need to have one soon, lol!

Running some parts for a while tonight. Going to try a Dog Rocky Patel, Ocean Club. Because I have one... I'm not expecting anything stellar.

This actually wasn't bad for a dog-Rocky. I'm surprised.
The wrapper was fragile - it cracked when I cut the cap with a razor blade and a hunk of wrapper and binder fell off. Not a good start. Who knows, maybe it was damaged at some point.
The draw was pretty open and it burned fast like a pipe full of shag
The majority of the smoke was basic creamy leather with some sweetness. Not at all bad but not all that great...
The final third was where it shined; the burn slowed down, it picked up a nice peppery bite that came and went, there were fleeting notes of root-beer every now and again (believe it or not) and it finished up with a rich tobacco flavor mixed with a very light touch of mint. I smoked it down to about an inch.
The thing actually burned straight without need for touch-ups... all the way down. That hasn't happened with a Rocky in like... forever. Not for me anyway.
This would be a decent smoke for someone looking for a flavorful cigar that won't hammer you with nicotine

Stopped by the B&M to get a couple goodies for the tourney winner and had to get an extra one of these for the Cards home opener. It’s definitely a holiday in St. Louis and for all us fans spread across the US.

I honestly haven’t had many ‘64 or ‘26 Maduros. Usually I go for the Natural. Might have to switch that up in the future. This is unbelievable. Nicely aged but still has quite a bite to it. Y’all can keep your Cuban tobacco, this premo Nicaraguan stuff is all I’ll ever need.

Full bodied. Heavy and rich maduro - maduro fans will love it. Can't remember much else, but I definitely recommend it. I'd pick up another single if I ran into one.

I also searched "Paul Stulac" on here as I was smoking it, and saw you smoked a lot of his stuff. What was good and where'd you get it?

It is well above the cap line but lower than usual. It had a little tighter draw than I wanted to settle with so I tried taking a little more off. Also, I think the angle of the pic is deceiving.

Ezra Zion blending selection yesterday. Have never had a EZ before plus these are unknowns. Dark brown with closed foot construction and burn was better than I expected as they said these aren't a finished product. Had a taste I could not identify, maybe light cedar but it was pleasant. Look forward to trying the rest of the 5ver.

Found a couple sites that have his sticks and the limited one I just had. Do you remember the ones you liked? The Screaming Sun and Phamtom seem to have been held in high regard, and that's probably where I'll start if I can find them.

I can see why you liked him and how popular he was. Didn't know who he was until the LCA sticks became hot and he put this one out. I don't think this one was as popular as the Cookie Monster and others, but I read that those hot sticks were much less than impressive. This one impressed me. The price was more than I liked, but I'm glad I know who he is and I'm hoping he gets a resurgence.

Well, smoke what you like and like what you smoke. At least you gave it a fair try.
Now normally I might insert some comment here to consider the fact that you like Gurkhas, but.......

I'm not sure how this one has eluded me so long but tonight I found it hidden away - not quite where it should have been.
I've still got some corona gorda and robusto but this was my last 42 ring corona and in fact you sent it to me quite a while back
So in happy appreciation I won't mention anything about that and I'll just say thanks for providing this excellent stick

You should invest in a PerfecDraw tool, since getting one, I haven’t had a draw problem since. It’s not a poker that just pushes the filler apart making it even tighter sometimes. It has a “drill” like cutting head, so it’s removing tobacco causing plugs, etc... I was skeptical until I tried it.
