I have never used humidity beads. Always been a boveda/KL guy. My question is how long do the beads last compared to Boveda? Yes I understand you can and how to recharge them but how long does that last? Also how many times can you recharge the beads before they just kinda die and dont hold a charge and break into smaller pieces?
Thank you. Considering trying beads in a desktop that likes to dry out bovedas

Depending on the season my HF beads go 1-3 months without a re-charge.

In my desktop, it's about two months before a recharge. My wineador seems to go about 6 months before I give them a recharge.

His question is actually how long are the beads good for until they no longer are usable...as in need to be replaced, not how long before needing a recharge.
Sorry Joel, I have not used beads yet, so I have no idea how long they last before they no longer function. It seems that I've read here and at the old place that they last years, if not indefinitely...?

My HF beads are over 2 years old and stillwork perfectly with no noticeable sign of deterioration. They last about 3-4 months in my coolidor before recharging. When I used them in my desktop it was a little more frequently. I should add that I have 2# of beads in the cooler.

I'm a noob to beads myself.
I got mine about a year ago I guess it was. They still work perfectly. I use mine in a tupperdor though. Got tired of fooling with wooden humidors.

I have some beads in my wineador that are pushing 5 years old. They seem to last forever. They will turn yellow over time but that has no effect on their ability to still get the job done

I've got 4 years on my oldest beads and still going strong. In my wineador they seem to last for 4-6 months before I even have to think about recharging them. In my desktop about 2 months before a recharge.

I'm at 4 years and counting without any apparent issues with my beads.
I've actually used a combo approach - my humidor has Boveda packs in it, and beads. My coolidor has Boveda and KL. They compliment each other pretty well - I don't have to recharge the Boveda very often at all, and the RH stays pretty solid.
