I have been predominantly using my Xikar XV cutter ever since I acquired it several months ago. On my most recent cigar, I carelessly cut it off center toward one side of the head.
At first I was like "damn, didn't get it centered".
As I smoked the cigar though, I noticed a definite directional flow of smoke toward the roof of my mouth with a release of additional flavors! I tried rotating the cigar so that the cut was sideways or toward the bottom, but none of them yielded the same flavor detection as when the cigar was oriented so that the off center cut was topside.

I will be trying this again to see if it is a fluke, but I think not.

If you have a V-cutter, give it a try a let us know what you think.

I've v cut like a plus sign and it worked great. In all honesty I've noticed a taste difference with different cuts though.

You have or you haven't noticed a taste difference with different cuts?

As a self-professed V-Cutter Lover, this is one of the reasons I solely use my Xikar XV!

I find that it is so versatile, and indeed, that I can direct the smoke to areas of my mouth and seem to notice more flavors with this cut vs any others...

also, almost all of my V-cuts are off-center, I'm no artist

Sometime maybe I'll work up a video of the straight and punch cut functions. The lighting function is especially good.

Ever try a dickman?

I generally use the Dickman cut on a pyramid cigar...
