that when the subject line for their email starts with, "Big Savings on Gurkha!" I just hit the delete button.

Wait, did I just start the very first Gurkha Bashing thread on Cigar Bums?

Be nice to Gurkha, just cause the name sounds like a chicken gagging, and IMHO they taste that way too.

I dunno... some of their more recent stuff isn't bad. I rather enjoyed the ghost. I tend to avoid the mass produced online ones though "beast, titan, beauty, widow maker, etc..." just because of construction issues and my personal taste.

I just threw out a large assortment of Ghurkas as well as some "fumas" and other assorted junk I make the mistake of winning at cbid when I started out. About 40 sticks total. They'd been taking up an entire tupperdor. Got a shipment of decent stuff in, didn't want to buy more tupperware, so I tossed 'em. It was a load off my mind.

I've heard you have to be careful which Gurkha you choose. The ones available in B&M are "true" Gurkha and probably better than those found online which are labels that Gurkha has sold.

That being said, after smoking a couple online versions (Beauty and Beast) I haven't even tried any others.

^^^ Too much work. I'm not going to purchase from a company that makes my life more difficult. Plus, at this point Gurkha is a laughingstock to me. I'm not going to smoke a stick that's the butt of jokes.

Wish you and I had got together earlier Ropey,we could have worked something out on those Fumas. No matter, they're 10 for $7 on cbid or something along those lines. They, along with the Gurkhas and a bunch of 5 Vegas, Petrus Ettiquettes, Magellans, RP Cargos and Leoninos are now fertilizing a landfill somewhere.

This is about half of what was tossed:

The Ghost is the only good one besides the Cellar Reserve. The problem is just the ridiculous MSRP they slap on everything to make them "Premium Cigars"

Early on in cigars, I had maybe 3 Gurkhas in my humidor. Smoked one, didn't like it and gave the other 2 away at a 4th of July celebration. The recipients didn't die, so all is well.

Wise move Gurkhas are deserving of the "Smoking is bad" label.

I'm doing well,,,, Just have a lot on the plate. Moved three households , mowing about 15 acres of yards each week and keeping up with my own job of maintence at my BIL cabins. Working on a new house for my wife and and just plain going BALD . I haven't had a chance to light a pipe in two years .My tobacco has started talking to me and it aint good.I helped an old boy clear out his shop building , found his dad's pipes tucked in a jar. Three pipes , a KB&B , a Whitehall , and a no-name. Best pay I got for all the other work.
