Question is that simple. What do you love about cigar smoking/ why do you love cigar smoking.

For me its really simple. I love cigar smoking becuase of the comradery. Meeting new people and having something in common but on the other hand so much not in common with the cigars different people smoke.

Not near as much as I like about pipe smoking...
...but as far as pipe smoking goes, I like the peace and quiet and the flavors and smells of pipes.
I'm not much for comradery (in fact, my auto-correct doesn't even think that's a word) since I'd rather be left alone.

with comradery i dont necessarily mean conversation at a B&M but the brotherhood like on this forum and with bombs and wanting to help each other out.

I enjoy smoking cigars because, first off, it helps relax me at the end of the day. I'm fortunate enough to have an indoor place to smoke, well-ventilated, with plenty of entertainment and a comfortable chair. It's nice to be able to kick back, light up, sip a drink, watch the Pirates or a movie, or play a little Xbox golf. My son just recently got into cigars, so he'll occasionally join me. Funny, when he was younger he didn't want to be seen too often with Dad (even though his friends thought he had the coolest father:stogie:), now he's good with hanging with me for a bit. I am also fortunate to be near a cigar bar that holds monthly tasting events, and have met quite a few friendly folks of all ages (none of whom work in the same business, I hate talking shop after work) there. It's the laid back attitude and camaraderie that makes it special. It's also nice to unwind alone.

I like cigar smoking simply for the relaxation of it. I simply sit back on the deck or by the campfire with a beverage of my choosing and enjoy the smoke with no other distractions. I usually smoke alone or with select close friends...not much for hanging out with strangers in a lounge.

Great thread.

For me, it's that I enjoy every aspect of smoking a good cigar. I love discerning different flavors and expanding my palate. I am also a fan of the physical act of smoking, although I do not smoke cigs. Something about taking a slow draw from a stick, and letting the smoke slowly billow out of my mouth and nose while watching the cigar burn down ever so slightly and evenly is just so relaxing to me.

I also love the fact that having a smoke forces you to just sit down and relax for a couple of hours.

I love the community aspect of cigars. On this forum, you make a lot of friends through passes, bombs and everyday chatter.

The part of the cigar I love is the relaxation and variety. I really enjoy smoking something new and being able to taste the differences between cigars. Also, the fact that it can be just you and a cigar for a time is something special.

Everyone has pretty much already covered it. The relaxation, forcing me to sit and take time out to have a smoke; the camaraderie of it with buddies on the golf course or you Bums here (which starts with cigars and extends into life in general); the wide variety of new sticks to try and as Kevin said above - just the physical act of slowly smoking a good cigar.

And since no one has said it yet, but someone will........ it also provides a little quiet time away from the better half LOL

ha! I think that's the reason why, although my ex hated smoke, she tolerated my cigars.

That last reason stops working when she starts asking you to pick up some for her to try. As of two days ago I now have an infused tupperdor and a small section of a normal tupperdore with her sticks in them.

But, what I enjoy most is the forced relaxation time. It's time away from the rest of the house that I can enjoy and do only what I want to do. I'm not a social person when I smoke, so the only comraderie is from you bums.

It is certainly the relaxation and rest. I also like how it makes watering the lawn for nearly 2 hours in the Texas heat much more enjoyable.

I don't know anyone else who smokes cigars anymore, though I did get a friend to try it. He liked it enough but won't be the type to buy them, which is fine.

I'm a bit too outgoing I've been told and so I can enjoy time with strangers. I don't seek it out but if I'm in the position I do what I can to make the most of it.

True, but if you pick the right lounge, they're only strangers the first time you're there. At least that's the way it was with me.

I don't see that ever happening with SWMBO here, although I actually wouldn't mind it. She will sit outside or take a walk with me if I'm smoking but won't come in my office / cave when I'm smoking inside.

Mostly the time set aside to concentrate on something else that I enjoy.
Hobbies are fun for me, and I tend to go a bit overboard with most of my hobbies.
Hence my study of and joining of the Bum.

I go to BMs every once in a while, but I usually keep to myself and read books or tobacco reviews or Watch Football (Tomorrow night, WooHoo).
I enjoy going out and being around people, but don't do too much actual interaction.
I have also tried to introduce others to the joys of the leaf, but most just join me for a smoke here and there and that's it.

In my Garage/Speakeasy its to have alone time and to get some stuff done. (Clean the garage or pipes or make to do lists).
Its usually an excuse for time away from the everyday.

I like cigars, I like the cello shine.
I like the smell, the band, an they feel so fine.
I dont care if they are big or small.
If they're for sale, I want them all.

I like nub cigars.
I like lancer cigars.
I really like cigars.

I really like the Quroum robusto.
The FUENATE, TAT,an' Uzi too.
I like my Habanos I smoked them all my life.
Box of cubans, a present from my wife.

I like robusto cigars.
I like churchill cigars.
I really like cigars.

Now I dont know why they take Cuban's from us.
Why I can't just smoke 'em without all the fuss.
I dont want to make a secret call.
I just want to have an' smoke 'em all.

I like boxed cigars.
I like rolled cigars.
I really like cigars.

God made the leaves, God made the tree.
God made the animals, an' he even made me.
I like tobacco, an' I even like the smoke.
Maybe it ain't liked by some other folks.

I like that it makes you step back a bit and enjoy your surroundings for a while. Kind of zen/meditative. Not as fast as a cigarette where youre done in no time, it forces you to take the time to puff and consider it.

Nothing more relaxing than sitting back with a good cigar or pipe at the end of a long day watching the sun set. Peaceful. That and the friends made and found in BOTL'S/SOTL'S all over. I've been a member of many forums for all types of hobbies and this is the only place I can honestly say I've made some good friends and felt included. I may smoke my pipe/cigar alone but with all of you at my fingertips I feel as though I'm smoking in good company.

I agree with Steve. I couldn't find the full version but at the end he takes a long draw and slowly blows it out then says, "Yoga. Cigars is yoga."

The wifey and I enjoy going out back after work. I'll make a couple of beverages and grab a cigar, then we'll pick what goodies are ready in the garden. I'll also turn on the Pandora radio and shake my arse a spell so she can get a cheap (bargain basement) thrill.....

In no particular order:

* It makes me relax and slow down for a couple of hours. Catch up on church sermons (I serve a lot lately, and the ministries I serve in don't allow me to catch the sermon), sort some mail, catch up on my Bible reading, it's all good.

* "Meeting" the awesome community of cigar aficionados here!

* Allow me to keep my palate sharp (although lately I don't take tasting notes unless the cigar is really exceptional).
