So I've noticed a few of the online retailers are advertising some of the Christmas blends of pipe tobacco McClelland Holiday Spirit, Christmas cheer, Cornell & Diehl Golden Days of Yore, etc.... I'm wondering what everyone's opinions are on these? I haven't been a pipe smoker very long and wondering if these are more of a cash in on the holiday type thing or are they worth while to grab?

Holiday Spirit is a nice aro. Christmas Cheer is a great straight Virginia. I get some every year to cellar.
I got some Golden Days, but I'm not sure if I should cellar it or not. The label mentions something about aging.

I saw several 100 gram tins of Christmas Cheer on the shelf at my local B&M yesterday.
Of course they get $29 for a 100 gram tin. Of everything, not just the Christmas blends. It's crazy. Their cigar prices are just barely above online prices, yet the tins of pipe tobacco are nearly double.

So are they actually "Christmasy" in flavor and scent or mostly just marketed for christmas?

The Holiday Spirit reminds me of some of the heavy, rich winter desserts, like a rum cake, etc. It is probably marketed as a holiday blend because of that.

Last year Tobias did a split of several Holiday and Christmas blends. Seems most are aros. I'm not a big aro fan but like these. They were good brands, McClelland, Peterson, C&D. I smoked a few bowls of each and put the bags in jars. I'll hit them again during the season. Some people collect these, pickup a can every year to age. Christmas Cookie is on my order someday list.

how likely are the christmas blends to sell out? Thinking I want to order a couple tins but don't want to touch the credit cards until the whole house thing is done. End of October are they still around or usually sold out?

Can't say for sure for some of them but I sure wish I had bought more of the Peterson St. Patrick's Day tobacco when it came out. It sold out fast.
