I'd like to expand my horizon

Okay, so with a new site, I figured I should do something new or renew I should say and I'd like to expand my pipe horizon. All I smoked really is Captain Black and a vanilla house blend from a tobacconist in Edmonton (I ran out a long time ago but I could of smoked that vanilla blend for the rest of my days)

So here's my pipe situation, I'm the owner of one, yep that's it, one Jantet bruyère that all it's seen is what I mentioned above. I do know I should have a few pipes for rotation sake and I'm looking around; my heart settling towards Brigham (I'm open to suggestions)

My real question is about blends. Captain Black realy doesn't do it for me anymore and I'd like to know what are the blends I should be bringing my attention to. My staple cigars are AF Short Story, Camacho Criollo, Bolivar RC (cc) and I'm partial to My Father El Centurion lately also a Criollo. My favorite flavor profiles in cigars are the natural tobacco sweetness and wood and I'm in my real happy place when they both combine.

I hope this will give you guys a baseline to work from.

Lane 1Q is a very affordable bulk blend that has a mild vanilla flavor. It is the best selling bulk tobacco in the world (so they claim) and for good reason. It is great stuff. You can get it for a couple dollars an ounce.

With you liking naturally sweet cigars, Virginia blends may be right up your alley. I've got some Red Cake on the way I'm going to put a year or so on and see how it is.

Also don't underestimate a corn cob pipe. They're great.

You have good taste in cigars BTW. The AF SS is one of my favorites as well.

Welcome to this side of the forums! I would suggest snagging a cob or two for a rotation, at least until you decide you want to stick with the pipes. As far as tobacco goes, it sounds like you would enjoy a good Virginia flake. Something like SG 1792 or Full Virginia flake might be right up your alley.

That's the great thing about pipes, you can try other flavor profiles. While I agree it sounds like a Virginia is right in your wheelhouse, you might also consider something completely different like a Frog Morton just to tempt your palette.

From your preference in cigars, I agree with Cool Breeze and Tobias that you might like Virginias. Tobias's suggestion of SG Full Virginia Flake seems bang on, but as a starter, you might want to try a ready rub. I would suggest Rattray's Hal O The Wynd. It is a nice ready Rub with enough strength to satisfy, but not so strong as to overwhelm.

Might I suggest John Pattons Storm Front...Great tobac, reasonably priced, bit of cigar leaf in the blend.
